I don't think it will change much.Jerusalem is claimed by everyone.Every Arab already knows Israel sees it as its capital. So what if a fat orange American agrees with the Israeli government. Some protest no doubt. |

Actually it changes everything because it legitimises the move of Israels capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and in so doing gives US backing for the incorporation of part of the occupied into the state of Israel. Of course it also increases the vulnerability of all US embassy staff in Israel. (Part of the reason for the siting of the US embassy in Tel Aviv was its proximity and access to the Med thus allowing for easy evacuation and fast military reinforcement if it came under siege. |

As it shows that the US under Trump has no interest in a two state solution, I'd suggest you think harder before you post next time. |

Seeing as the entire world is run by a very few members of one family, it's not really a mystery why a business man entirely reliant on their favour would seek to do this.

Jesus fucking Christ.....
This is a 'damage done' moment. Even if you have the next President go completely back on it there is no way that the takeaway from that move will be anything other than "America can't be trusted to maintain a stance on this complex conflict."
Also, going back on it will only rile up those who wish to perpetuate the conflict from the Israeli side.
*slow clap*
But sure, try and spin it an no big deal.

Being the cynic I am I have to say I think Trump has played a blinder on this (just not sure America will enjoy paying the price). In one short speech and with a flourish of his pen he has managed to restart the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Of course in doing so he has also managed to ensure that every violent pro Palestinian group in the world and every Salafist Islamic jihadist group in the world will now redouble their efforts to harm Americans and American interests anywhere globally but especially in the USA. So in one move Trump has ensured that he will soon be able to justify his Islamophobic bigotry and may even have set in motion a train of events that will justify him removing Muller, shutting down all investigations into him and his family ties to Russia and their decades of systematic tax fraud and international money laundering for Russian gangsters (including Putin and his mates).
Looking at things from Trumps point of view this may well be his best work yet. For the world, I would say it is not so good...
But it is the type of thing many gangsters do when they find that their past is catching up on them and there is nowhere to hide. |

Typical replies from many in Dismay.
.
This will all blow over in years to come and it will be accepted,
the World will follow suit, soon other countries will also establish Embassies In Jerusalem and it will be accepted as Israel's.
Israel needs room to grow and expand. except it.
(as its going to happen regardless). |

Do you realise that the Israeli Palestinian problem has not over in 71 years and over that time has supplied the reason for and then been the catalyst for international terrorism? Do you also understand that the growth in Salafism and modern day fundamentalist jihadism can also trace its roots back to the Israeli Palestinian conflict? Do you further understand that the most volatile flash-points is Jerusalem? And that is is such a sensitive subject that even tho the state of Israel has move the Knesset and much of its government there the internationally recognised capital is Tel Aviv because of all the international problems recognising Jerusalem as the capital will cause? |

Many share your sentiments, but if the USA were any other country in the world it would be classed as a failing state because of the levels of violence, police and political corruption. But we can agree on one thing, much of the land is stunning. Shame Trump is determined to desecrate and contaminate as much of it as he possibly can while he remains in office. |

Israel needs room to grow and expand? Except (accept?) it?
Israel just needs some Lebensraum, or living space right? Perfectly reasonable.
I'm sure you accept (or maybe except) England also needs some Lebensraum too, and wouldn't mind if we too a bit of Scotland, right? Edinburgh should do nicely. It's ok, you guys can keep the highlands. There's plenty of space there, someone's already cleared it for you |

Now is a good time to go west. I am a regular visitor and I can tell you that the last 12 months I have never seen queues as short at immigration. Immigration queues at Philadelphia, JFK and Miami have simply evaporated.
I have no idea why this last year in the previous six has seen such a change, it is almost as if a significant number of recreational visitors are just not bothering to go at the moment. Can’t think why. |

That is truly hilarious. Incoming tourist numbers to the USA outmumber “immigrant” arrivals by a factor of at least 100:1 probably much more. Tourist numbers amount to 70-80 million a year and new immigrants are about 1 million a year of which 600,000 are already settled there. |

You said both immigrant numbers and tourist numbers (although you also called them recreational visitors) were down in your post. Trump voters will be pleased to hear immigration numbers are down. Some Trump voters may also be pleased to hear tourist numbers (or recreational visitors) are also down. Surely this was part of the appeal to them of voting for Trump to see the numbers of people coming into the country (for what ever reason) fall. |

So Trump made this announcement and then signed a 6 month deferral just like every US president has been signing 6 month deferrals for the last 23 years...
So to be clear Trump has made another loudmouthed non-announcement, but this time the result is Palestinians dead and injured in violent clashes with the Israeli Defence Forces in Gaza and the occupied territories. No doubt there will be Israeli casualties too. |

The lost control of it for 2000 years.Trump is a tiny irrelevant chapter in this beautiful cities history.Jerusalem has been destroyed at least twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured and recaptured 44 times. Its well worth a visit. |
