I think that the Brexit impact papers and his comments about them being “excruciatingly detailed” might not actually be true.
I also think that his performance overall is not living up to scrutiny. |

According to the BBC all the pornographic material found on his computer was of a legal nature.
The mis-use of public time and resources is being investigated. Serious in its own right , but not in the same category as the posts above. |

Actually - it might encourage TM to invite Keir Starmer to become Brexit Secretary and prove to the country that this is for all of our collective benefit and not ideology. |

Something isn't right.
These allegations go back to 2008 when he was the Conservative immigration spokesman. Why wasn't he charged or disciplined then?
He had embarrassed the Labour government with a series of leaks about illegal immigration and other issues.
Police then raided his Parliamentary office as part of an inquiry into how he got his hands on confidential documents.
His office computer was seized and he was detained for nine hours.
If they had something on him they would've done it then. But no charges were brought against the Damian Green or civil servant who passed unauthorised material to Mr Green, although the official was sacked.
I'm going to wait just a little bit longer before giving my verdict. |

A nonce is a person convicted of a sexual offence, especially against a child.
I can't recall it being used once in any of the recent sexual harassment inquiries or allegations. Please feel free to correct me if you have.

The stuff on his computer isn't illegal. The information was released by the officer involved at the time. That officer is now being investigated for releasing irrelevant info. Not criminal.
It's embarrasing / wrong / sackable because he had mainstream porn on a work computer. But as you say 9 years old story."

But this guy is part of a government thats introducing stricter legalisation for porn sites...a bit like this one...a bit hypocritical of him or not ? "
The stricter legislation you refer to means age verification of all pornographic content to prevent minors viewing online material.
As Damian Green was over 18 in 2008 it isn't hypocritical. |

WTF!
MP has thousands of porn photos on his House of Commons PC in 2008 and not only is he not sacked but he gets to stand for reelection 3 times when anyone other than an MP would have been fired on the spot and escorted off their employers premises!
And your concerned with police probity! Take your head out of your arse, the thing you should be outraged about is that it has taken a retired police officer nearly 10 years to make this public and that the Tories are still trying to cover it up!
Our lawmakers should be held to a higher moral standard than the rest of us not a lower one! And our police should expose wrongdoing by the rich and powerful not cover it up! |

Age verification of all pornographic content will be mandatory from April 2018. But there are still a lot of grey areas
Plans to force all pornographic websites behind an age-verification wall will be formally announced by the government on Monday. Critics of the plan have hit back, saying it will "fundamentally change the internet" both in the UK and oversees.
In a statement, Matt Hancock, the minister of state for digital and culture, said the pornography block would be "fully in place" by April 2018. Today, parliament will appoint a regulator who will draw up guidelines as to how the legislation will be enforced.
Jerry Barnett, founder of campaign group Sex & Censorship, said the legislation would “fundamentally change the internet in the UK and possibly globally”. For the first time, he added, the government would have the power to block websites, en-masse, without court orders. “This is a first in a democracy,” he continued. “Although this appears to be just about protecting children from porn, it isn't. It will block any site that doesn't comply with strict UK content rules.”

I think the main point is we have a senior MP in the cabinet whose parliamentary laptop had porn on it (allegedly).
Ok he is a human being, and we have all watched porn, BUT we are not in his position and it shows poor judgement at a time when judgement is so important. Would anyone be so stupid to use a work laptop to view porn - if they do then they deserve what happens to them! |

Offshore every person has a "smart Badge" to log on at any pc.
If a plant upset occurs, it is very easy to rush out to fix the plant without removing your card, leaving the pc open.
.
when this happens, some will sit down, go into the persons Email and send some very nasty Emails to his boss, happens all the time, as does down loading porn, then reporting the guy for having porn on computer
.
but then guys who work offshore are a different breed |

Sorry to have shocked you but actually I am concerned about police probity. So should all of us.
The police didn't pursue the matter at the time nor did they tell Mr Green about it. Because it wasn't illegal and had nothing to do with the case they were investigating.
The retired officer in question has said he can't be sure it was Damian Green who accessed the pornography.
Did it get covered up by the Tories as you claim? I don't know. I'm not going to join in the mob to hang him until I see more evidence.
As for expecting lawmakers to have higher moral standards it depends on the baseline you start from. |

I haven't missed the story. I answered your question.
Having pornographic materiel [sp] on your work computer in 2008 has nothing to do with the legislation.
Harvey Weinstein has nothing to do with the legislation.
An ongoing police investigation has nothing to do with this legislation.
Whether a police office [sp] who originally investigated him believe's [sp] it in the public's interest to know has nothing to do with this legislation.

Even then you'd expect some sort of content filtering on the PC itself or on the network perimeter to block porn etc.
These filters are put in place to protect the company/institution and the employee. If you know porn is going to be blocked and reported you don't access it.
I'm surprised it took an unrelated police investigation to (allegedly) discover this had happened when it should've been prevented from ever happening in the first place.

The other side of that though, is parliamentarians need to be able to access and see all sorts of stuff for legitimate reasons. If online porn is being legislated they need to be able to see the real world. So, on that basis, I'd say no blocks.
That 'research' doesn't include wanking all day for months on end though |

Valid point. But in 2008 I doubt he would have been researching for this current legislation. |

No, 'someone' in the office was cracking one off.

Theres a valid reason why this ex copper has brought it up though...Green has accused his boss Bob Quick of lying....
The ex coppers quote Neil Lewis who btw is A former Scotland Yard detective who specialised in examining digital devices for evidence
Lewis said he was motivated to come forward when he heard Green denying claims by his superior Quick.
“His outright denial of that was quite amazing followed by his criticism of Bob Quick,” Lewis said.'
Green is also being investigated into alleged inappropriate behaviour towards Kate Maltby...for someone who asked whats Harvey Weinstein got to do with it....its this...all these allegations came out once Harvey got busted
Kate Maltby's quote
'Angered by the incident, Maltby said she had no further contact with Green until he sent her a text message a year later saying he had “admired [her] in a corset” and inviting her for a drink.'
As for the incial investigation they thought the guy had broke the official secrets act and came across all this porn on an official government laptop
And all this information i have posted is available on the open web.

when this happens, some will sit down, go into the persons Email and send some very nasty Emails to his boss, happens all the time, as does down loading porn, then reporting the guy for having porn on computer
.
but then guys who work offshore are a different breed
Even then you'd expect some sort of content filtering on the PC itself or on the network perimeter to block porn etc.
These filters are put in place to protect the company/institution and the employee. If you know porn is going to be blocked and reported you don't access it.
I'm surprised it took an unrelated police investigation to (allegedly) discover this had happened when it should've been prevented from ever happening in the first place.
"
Agreed there are filters to block porn offshore, you cant even log onto the UK lottery offshore due to filters |

And did you see the bit where Neil Lewis said he couldn't say it was Damian Green accessing the pornography?"
This is from the BBC News article:
Lewis, who retired from the Metropolitan Police in2014, said although "you can't put fingers on a keyboard", a number of factors meant that he was sure it was Mr Green, the MP for Ashford, Kent, whowas accessing the pornographic material.
His analysis of the way the computer had been used left the former detective constable in "no doubt whatsoever" that it was Mr Green, who was then an opposition immigration spokesman but is now the first secretary of state.
"The computer was in Mr Green's office, on his desk, logged in, his account, his name," said Mr Lewis, whoat the time was working as a computer forensics examiner for SO15, the counter-terrorism command.
"In between browsing pornography, he was sendingemails from his account, his personal account, reading documents... it was ridiculous to suggest anybody else could have done it."
So he says its ridiculous to suggest someone else did it. Are you suggesting that? |

It’s based on the balance of probabilities.
I don’t have a picture of him looking at porn
But I can see him sending an email 30 seconds before. And after.
But I guess it’s believable he could have popped out for a minute. Leaving his computer unlocked.
And for this to happen repeatedly. |

Is it all good sport for those with purely party political motives? Yes.
Would I cae under other circumstances? No. |

I'm not suggesting anything.
The point I am making is that Neil Lewis is unable to say he was sure it was Damian Green who was accessing that pornography.
If he had enough evidence he would have said he was sure it was Damian Green.
Feel free to jump to a conclusion on what you've read and seen. As I said before I'm going to wait before giving my verdict. If that means I'm stupid then so be it!

The people under investigation in this case should be the police officers involved . We have one former office whose wife ran a private hire business and anothè office who appears to be guilty of theft by retaining notes made during a confidential investigation.
Maybe if we terminated the pension payments of these officers it might make them behave in a more respnsible manner in future . They have no interest in fighting crime otherwise they would not be commenting on an issue such as this.
An MP is judged on what they achieve , not on what they use their for . |

you lost the plot?
what does the business activities of someones spouse have to do with this, its totally unrelated..
you also need to do some of your infamous 'research' too..
theft?
oh yes and also take a minute to look at the conditions relating to an employees workplace pension scheme..

I'd add that it is also inappropriate for information in a police investigation to be released when there was no illegal activity and not pertinent to that investigation.
That is what prevents police fishing exercises. It's an important principle because everyone has petty but embarrassing secrets that the police should not be free to use as leverage. |

The 2 former police offices look like they might be charged with releasing this information....which actually could be a good or bad thing on how you look at it when and if it gets to court |

"Indeed. So much for police confidentiality.
As for expecting lawmakers to have higher moral standards it depends on the baseline you start from."
Sorry Scrabble, but they did discuss it with Green and his lawyers at the time, and again in 2013. He was found to be lying when he said they didn't, and that he hasn't known anything about it. |

"The people under investigation in this case should be the police officers involved .
No Pat, Cabinet Ministers are judged on their ability to tell the truth. |

"Indeed. So much for police confidentiality.
Sorry Scrabble, but they did discuss it with Green and his lawyers at the time, and again in 2013. He was found to be lying when he said they didn't, and that he hasn't known anything about it."
Thank you for pointing this out.
As I said before, I wanted to see more evidence. Sorry if that is a problem! |
