Not Practical to investigate all crime

Mr Simmons said the new Crime Assessment Policy was "empowering our officers" to judge whether it was proportionate to investigate some offences such as shoplifting, car crime and criminal damage..

But don't panic.

We are not talking about things like homicide, kid@nap, sexual offences or hate crime...
.

But don't worry if you have the money you can move to a gated community where G4S gives 24 hour security cover (and soon to have police powers of arrest). After all we are all in it together...  |

"Several family and friends have been burgled recently. Brings it home and unfortunately not enough police and not harsh enough deterrents."
Or resources from central government to tackle crime...after all they have been cutting back with the austerity cuts for 7 years now....and it will get worst |

They haven't been investigating certain types of crime for 20 years.
For example, in 1999 my shed was broken into, 2 bikes and all my tools stolen. In Derby.
In 2002, my car was broken into, the drivers door window smashed. In Manchester.
Then in 2006, in Stoke, my car was stolen (worth about 10K).
Each time, during the phone call to the police to report the crimes, I was given the crime number to tell the insurance company. Not once were they investigated, not once did a policeman (or policewoman) come to see me or take a statement.
All before austerity.
Sounds like all they're doing is formalising what they've been doing for 20 years. |

Hate crime is very vague, beating people up, name calling, poor taste jokes?.
Still it's good to know the police consider all of the above in the same bracket as murder and r@pe |

Well I blame police and crime commissioners. If we didn't have someone on a fat cat salary commissioning all this crime in the first place, the police would have a lot more time on their hands. |

Maybe they're grading the likliehood of there being any line of enquiry to follow up.
Do you want the police officer to turn up to complain to them or to turn up as there's a line of enquiry ?
Austerity has hit but there's only so much can be done in certain situations? |

You're blaming it on austerity, and those bastard Tories, I pointed out it's been going on for 20 years, or more.
At no point have I condoned the police position on what crimes they do or do not investigate. |

What is crime,these days I am confused about this one.To me breaking into someone's home is crime,shouting abuse at someone in the street is not.
I do believe,however,we need many more police especially beat coppers,traffic police etc.
It is to easy to drive d*unk out there as unless the driver has an accident all he may get is a speeding ticket off a camara.
More money is needed by the police and easier laws for them to enforce so it is worthwhile investigating crime. |
