ONS figures just out show average UK workers productivity has fallen again! Apparently per man-hour we are producing about 26% less than equivalent German workers!

I bet that if you check over the last 10/20/30/40 years, year on year German industry has invested much more on updating production technology than British industry. |

Of course they work harder, everything is written in German! German is a much harder language. If I had to translate all my work into German, it would take me at least 26% longer. |

Nothing to do with anything else then, just workers?
Management and investment cultures, people under worse conditions - travel, education, health, government etc etc. Context is all, before you can determine any meaning. |

Exactly the argument I wished to provoke. All I did was quote the headlines the way they are so often reported in the media.....without the background.
Some good points raised on here....I'll step back and let it continue. |

But if you are paid for 9 hours...but only working for six...in between city and toilet breaks....that's got to pull your productivity down.... |
