"Thats a good point if this was a muslim guy his relatives would be in custody being questioned there and abroad. Theres a video on youtube of two friends doing an experiment to see the different reactions of the police of a white guy openly carrying an assault rifle and black guy.The white guy is asked politley if he has a permit and doesn't even provide it and gets in the face of the officer. The black guy finds himself faced down surrounded by guns pointing at him even when he tries to produce the permit. Both had permits.One almost got shot.  | |||

He hasn't got children, his girlfriend was located in Japan and questioned, his brother in Florida and his mother was questioned, his neighbours have been questioned, incidentally his girlfriend is Malaysian and still found innocent of any assistance... I guess that in the US it is accepted that political assassination is an acceptable risk those in office are willing to take in order to keep their unfettered 2nd amendment rights. These are not acts of God, they are not earthquakes, or volcano eruptions or anything like that. If the political will to change things was there, they could change them. However, most of America accepts that this is the price they have to pay for their relationship with guns. They accept mass shootings like this, as well as much more numerous incidents such as children accidentally shooting themselves, their friends, their siblings, their parents etc. They accept a much higher homicide rate, much higher suicide rate, (12.6 per 100k compared to 7.4 per 100k for the UK). | |||

To be fair, I doubt the police use the main armament, however can you imagine the cost of keeping it running, keeping people trained to operate it, transporting the thing about for photo ops etc. If they did use the main armament, then the costs would be astronomical for a police force. Firing it, training on it, having forward observers directing fire, worrying about collateral damage, danger close range, fire discipline, hiring ranges to train on etc. Obviously having those capabilities is a necessary requirement for the military, but no need for local law enforcement. | |||

It would not surprise me to find that he targeted that concert it was full of happy people sharing a joyous experience.
