Totally correct......but sadly it has been forever thus. Heads of state protect other heads of state....just in case anything happens to drop them in the shit.
It's the ultimate old boys club! |

It makes sense. You don't want your diplomats or statesmen being arrested on potentially trumped up charges whenever they go to another country so everyone agrees to diplomatic immunity.
Of course, when someone is abusing that privilege their nation is supposed to recall them and strip them of their diplomatic immunity, but this isn't always the case. The Turkish embassy in the states had a recent incident where their security assaulted American citizens protesting their shitty state, and nothing came of it.
Nothing is perfect, I guess. |

There are different levels of diplomatic immunity that range from total immunity to extremely limited to in the course of duties within a diplomatic compound or in a registered diplomatic vehicle or while transporting items covered by the diplomatic bag convention. Heads of State and their immediate families and those officially traveling with them are normally granted full diplomatic immunity.
Lets just hope the whole world now list Mrs Mugabe as 'persona non grata'. |

"And of course they can still be PNG'd (Persona non grata) no longer welcome in the host country. Regardless of diplomatic status they must then be recalled home. "
That won't happen with Comrade Grace. Zuma has stolen millions as has Bob Mugabe. Bob Mugabe is also responsible for the murder of thousands of his subjects. Neither mean really worries about laws. |

Mugabe wasn't a communist, he was a nationalist so you don't need the comrade comment... All totalitarian regimes work on the leader being God like be they communist or fascist... And sometimes just plain old Tony Blair like. |

Actually Comrade is the title used in Zimbabwe by the ruling party ZANU(pf) and very often state media. |

I know you're not a fan of Tony Blair and neither am I a fellow traveler of his but to compare him with any Mugabe or any other totalitarian leader detracts more from your valid arguments than it adds, IMPO |
