Great to see Brexit getting watered down yet again, with the tories proposing years and years for further customs union. If it keeps on like this, Brexit is soon going to be a synonym for homeopathy! |

The whole idea is a ridiculous farce designed to postpone the economic hit until after the next general election. Fact is we have an adjustment period. We are 6 months into it and I am still waiting to see any of the new agencies we will need come 29/3/19 being set up, acquiring premises, hiring and training staff or the putting into place the regulatory framework to ensure a smooth passage out of the EU. On the 29/3/19 we go from having the luxury of not needing things like a national drugs standards or atomic safety regulatory agency (because (those hated) Brussels bureaucrats took care of it for the whole EU) to requiring our own. This is well known, so where are the appointments of Agency heads? Where is the calm but visible building of a replacement infrastructure for the institutions now being supplied for free from Brussels (remember we got nothing for the money we sent to the EU, boJo and Nige said so).
What a bunch of myopic tossers this government is. They could not organise a pissup in a brewery even if given a crib sheet! |

"What does the EU blueprint say for member states wishing to leave?"
do you mean Article 50?
its pretty clear that it states a 2 year period which when it was written into EU law or whatever it is possibly looked sufficient or so short a time that it was part of the deterrent for member states wanting to leave..
Sort of looks like we had no plan in place and when May was being strong and stable in providing firm leadership in implementing A50 when she said she would that she hadn't done her homework on the levels and complexity of what need to be negotiated..
Cake and eat it was my first thought last night and that the EU would say no way but they have held back on a definitive response thus far..
Either its a fudge, or it suits all sides especially the business community..
probably annoy the fuck out of the die hard we don't really know nor care what is involved just leave lot..
Eu head negotiator has just said its a fantasy whilst they still have yet to sort out the issue's of EU and UK citizens, NI/Eire border and the divorce bill..
note he hasn't said its a none starter if those are sorted.. |

Nice attempt at Remain spin but anyone with half a brain can see what a load of nonsense your post is. There has been talk of a transitional period upon leaving the EU for ages now so this story really is nothing new, it's old news.
As for 'years and years' of further customs union it'll be 2 to 3 years max which the government has confirmed and then we leave the customs union AND the single market at the end of the transition. This is a victory for Brexiters in the cabinet and Philip Hammond had to concede in a joint newspaper article with Liam Fox at the weekend we will be leaving the single market AND the customs union at the end of the 2 to 3 year transition period. |

We are not staying in the customs union though. We are leaving the customs union at the end of the 2 to 3 year transition, that is the big win for Brexit. I just saw the Brexit secretary David Davis on sky news he couldn't have been clearer he said, "Staying in the customs union will be part of a TIME LIMITED deal". We already know the time limit will be no more than 2 to 3 years and then we are fully out. |

I wonder what Cenatur's hero, Mr Farage, thinks about it:
"There's no doubt that during this transitional period, the free movement of people will continue, the European Court of Justice will go on having judgements over British business and, of course, we'll go on paying a membership fee." |

Which will all end when the transition period is over. This is provided the EU agrees to a transition? People like Farage and Liam Fox don't want any transition and the transition is more of a compromise to placate Remoaners in the cabinet like Philip Hammond. If the EU don't agree to a transition then we will be fully out in March 2019 anyway which is what many hard Brexiters want. |

Let's make it clear it's Remainers who want a transition period, people like Philip Hammond. The EU don't sound too enthusiastic about it on today's news so if the EU reject a transition we will be fully out of the single market and the customs union in March 2019 which is what many hard Brexiters really want. This Govt is doing nothing other than kicking a problem into the long grass and leaving the real fick up for someone else to deal with after the next election.

The most recent poll by academics at the London School of Economics (LSE) and Oxford university showed that 7 out of 10 voters now accept Brexit, so yeah based on that poll Brexit is hugely popular. |

Firstly, "accept brexit" is very different to "hugely popular". I presume that you accept you will die one day, but are not exactly thrilled about it.
Secondly, how many times have you attacked polls as being unreliable? I think you have done so on multiple occassions. |

Juncker is there to negotiate the best deal for the EU - not us. He is just doing his job. I really do not understand why people think the EU have to be nice to us when we have said we want to leave their club!
I agree on this but, he could be a little more dignified about it and not be a petulant pompous twit about it. "
He is being neither pompous or a twit. Please refer to UK team Brexit for examples of pompousness, twittery (and cluelessness).

I am a staunch EU supporter and profoundly dislike Junker. However, I never understood why people got so fixated on this glorified civil servant? Sure, he comes across as arrogant, but he's not there for life and his powers are actually rather limited (unless, of course, you're an avid Daily Mail/Sun/Express reader).
Has any of the dedicated Junker haters given a thought as to how BoJo and his Hitler comments came across in Europe? How the security thread in Theresa May's Art 50 notification was perceived? And yet, I don't see an incessant campaign on the continent against those people. Strange. |

"The whole idea is a ridiculous farce designed to postpone the economic hit until after the next general election.
Incompetent and lacking in accountability. And yet, for some, they're still having wet dreams. |
