I believe that type 2 is treatable with diet etc and type 1 requires insulin for treatment, but I'll happily leave it to fellow sufferers to elaborate further. |

loss of feeling and pain (nerve damage)
foot problems
vision loss and blindness
miscarriage and stillbirth
problems with your kidneys

This was proposed by the Salk Institute in November 2015. They found something that had similar symptoms in an old, emaciated mouse that was missing a key hormone.
Since then there have been no further findings and no possible link to humans.
The proposal has since been firmly rubbished ......
the type four referred to by previous posters was a piss take and has no basis in fact.
