I don't think Jezza will step down!

But if/when he does, I like Starmer for it. Smart chap with a lot of credibility.

So thinking for a moment about the number of people who didn't vote Labour because of JC, with a different leader, the Labour party could well have won.

"So thinking for a moment about the number of people who didn't vote Labour because of JC, with a different leader, the Labour party could well have won."

But they didn't.

To be fair to him, he seems to have fought an effective campaign and has increased the number of Labour seats.

Following Labours victory in 1997, they've lost seats in every election since, so some might argue that he has done well

Can you imagine the result in October's rematch if the PLP, Scottish Labour and the backstabbers can all pull in the same direction from the start?

Alternatively he's got 90 seats less than Tony Blairs worst performance so some would say that his far left agenda has failed. Not exactly up against a heavyweight in Theresa May was he!

It was because of him and his policies that they did this well not in spite of him. He is marmite in same way as Bojo.

I still think that was contrived between boris and Gove who suddenly realised fuck!!!

I think they both didn't want it and boris is a bit toxic within his own party so took a swerve..

Cameron stepping down was something neither of them expected..

Mind you boris likes a bit of stabbing himself..

Corbyn refused to step down after taking a thrashing at the last election, managed to cling on through a leadership challenge and went on to take the conservatives majority in yesterday's election.

There's less chance of him stepping down now than there ever was.

May should go though, but who would replace her... Not Boris pleeeeeeeeease.

Could be right. There is an abscence of quality at the top of both parties. Can't wait until Dan Jarvis or David Milliband are labour leader and we actually have some proper opposition.

Either of them would be a problem for the Tories but the latter for some would have baggage maybe..

Have to say that despite a really vitriolic personal campaign against Corbyn by some of tie media and some on the right he stayed above it all and stuck to his role..

That has been interesting ..

And i think it turned some away from the Tories so they will have to look at how they do things going forward..

The government of the last 2 years has been awful by anyones standards, only made tolerable by the even worse performance of the opposition. Even die hard tories are not going to be impressed with the attempted national insurance rise and most business owners do not want a hard brexit. The conservatives needed something to clip their wings, kind of ironic it turned out to be a snap election that they called.

I think conservatives are at a critical point like labour were in 2015. The leader has to go, are they going to try and force someone on the electorate that the party backers want or are they going to offer what the electorate want. In the former case we can expect a lot of hung parliments for the foreseeable future.

If May goes, and it looks more likely by the hour but not definite yet, who will take over. Bojo would be a move further towards a hard BREXIT and not what the people have actually voted for.

Maybe Hammond would be a step in the right direction and would definitely be an indication of a more economically pragmatic approach towards BREXIT.
