Anyone else noticed in all the little videos May is sending out at the moment [*]. She seems to always be talking about 'protecting' or 'safeguarding'. e.g. 'I will protect your schools come Brexit' etc.
Has she just completely given up even pretending that Brexit is going to be a positive outcome? Wasn't the whole spiel from the Leave campaign that we will be freer, more prosperous, etc?
They seem to have abandoned any pretence that that is true, and lowered that bar to what seems to be 'We'll ensure we don't fuck anything up more than it already is'.
Is is just a case of just subtly re-calibrating people's expectations of Brexit on the Leave side so that when we are inevitably not any better off outside the EU they can just say 'See, we told you we wouldn't make it any worse'. Of course ignoring all the time and money spent on the pointless exercise.

No, we all know that. But she's not even pretending that post-Brexit will be any better for people. Considering she is banging on about Brexit the whole time in order to distract people from Tories lack of any policies that anyone will like, you would have thought she might be trying to hold on to the Leave voter's vote.

If May actually believes that then why doesn't she say so in her videos? Why is she just banging on about 'protecting' what people have now come brexit?

To be fair, we give a lot of aid to a lot of countries, so I'm not going to hold that one against her. Plenty of other things she got so badly wrong last night.

The other theory, that came to me the other day is that we know that the government have been in talks with US companies, and they will deliberatley bail out of a Brexit deal and sell healthcare etc to the yanks. |

it occured to me today that when all hospitals are funded through madantory private health care insurance, how will the government cope with the emergency care needed in the aftermath of a cataclysmic event? |

Perhaps. I mean we already sold our Blood services to Mitt Romney's company a few years back.
One of the biggest winners on the 'dementia tax' will be the finance companies that design and sell the equity release products. And one of the biggest of those is Legal & General, who May's husband is executive of their major shareholder. So they might do well out of that directly.

i was thinking more about the current climate where the majority of folks display such discompassion as to willingly relegate the disadvantaged to a life of misery.... how will they feel when the treatment they have payed for through their mandatory insurance (stealth tax) is cancelled in order to treat people who have been involved in a catastrophic incident. |

-Matt" As Legal and General are a massive Financial Services organisation any income from business such as this would be be comparatively insignificant . In any event the risks associated with policies of this nature would be difficult to assess. Is there any evidence that Legal and General wish to actively market such a product or is this simply speculation? |

Anyone picked up on what a pile of garbage they all are?
According to May she is strong and stable and she is the only person who can negotiate a good deal with the EU for the UK. I have been waiting for someone to rip into her but it seems no one in the media or press is willing too. And I have to say I am surprised that Fabio or one of our other regulars has not realised we all ready have an example of Mrs May's 'bloody woman' style and seen it's results...
Remember her first action when she was first selected to be PM after caMoron pissed off?
She had deep worries about national security because of Chinese involvment, so she cancelled Hinkley Point C. but not until after the Chinese president had flown in to break ground although she had had weeks/months to make her mind up and tell the Chinese. When asked why she had acted in such a poor maner she replied 'it was her style'.
Then President Hollande told her some home truths about EDF and how much power is imported from France to the UK daily and suddenly Hinkley C was not cancelled just put on hold while Mrs May personally examined the contracts. Then the Chinese President Xi Jinping made a public statement about how if the contract did not go forward then China would not be willing to trade the UK and would be imposing trade tariffs on UK goods entering China...
3 weeks after the 'Bloody Woman' had stuck her ore in to prove how strong and stable she was not only was the struck but the Chinese had full access to all the UK's nuclear technology, but also had a guaranteed minimum price for all electricity generated for 30 or 40 years that means every home in the UK will pay a levy on their power to subsidise and add to the profits of EDF (French state owned electricity supplier) and the Chinese government! And so the style and effectiveness of the government was set and has continued without let up. Out she comes all fire and brimstone and as soon as she is challenged it's U turn and run time.
So my question is simple:
Regardless of politics,do all you pro May pro Conservative 'shes the one for us' crowd really think Mrs May and the rag tag misbegotten bunch of subservient yes men (and BoJo) really are the dream team they claim to be?

There we go...
As soon as they are faced with the truth they all go deaf blind and dumb...
Nothing quite like sticking your fingers in your ears ignoring everything you see and hear and voting for your own destruction...
One would thing that the brexiteers would be up in arms over how May has been handling brexit after all she and the tories have now managed to delay brexit by a year. Apparently needing to call this election because of all the political opposition they have faced...
What opposition? Would that be Labour saying that they would not oppose the will of the people and helping the brexit bill pass unchanged?
You would think that the kippers would notice this and be looking to boot out the lying tories, but no, they are all cheering Ms May on!
Guess there is real truth in the sayings 'You get the government you deserve' and 'Be careful what you wish for, you might get it!'!!! |

Indeed, I've questioned it on here before. If you are a leave voter why are you not angry about the complete balls up May is making of this process? She was making a balls-up of Brexit and now making a balls-up of the election. You would have thought the Tories would have learnt by now not to try and call a vote on something to appease people. If it backfires twice in a row, I really don't see how people can continue to support her.

It's 4 Million....out of 13 Billion.

So do you also expect Abbott to have the correct figures, and a higher level of detail, about policing? Or Corbyn the on the day of launching his children's policies? Or Cable to at least know how many public sector workers are affected by the 1% pay cap in the UK? |

Best description I've seen yet of the ludicrousy of May's 'hard Brexit':
"Her decision to interpret this as licence for a hard Brexit is as outrageous as if the Remainers had won a narrow victory and immediately decided to join the euro, the Schengen travel area and an EU army, declaring that no discussion was needed because this was the people’s will."
Imagine the shit-storm from the Leavers on here if the above had happened?

The home office sent about 100 letters "in error" to eu citizens living in the uk, telling them they had to leave or be liable for "detention". I bet they feel very welcomed and you can wonder if the home office had the plans to send it, but not this early. |
