Why Saudi Arabia? Thought he'd go back to Scotland or Britain. UK first.

First stop Saudi, forget the oil and arms deals (that's not why he has gone there). He feels right at home surrounded with like minded people. They also know how to treat women and how to deal with opposition. If only the Donald had the power to publicly execute any who opposed him, it would be great, amazing, oh so great, the greatest...

Apart from the $100bn and a total sum of deals worth $300bn!

I think a visit to Satan's spiritual home by anyone is a betrayal of western culture and traditions.

Might be, but paradoxically its also not liked by the a lot of the followers of the "religion of peace"

Besides the mentioned deals that will bring promised jobs to the US industry , it also serves a purpose not usually mentioned !

The need for this arms deal has been there for a while , so why was it not signed before ?

What does Saudi Arabia , Israel and the Trump Admin have in common ?

All three are against the Obama`s disastrous middle East policy , and specially the Nuclear Agreement with Iran !

And in this case ... they are right !

The Iran deal is awfull !

I would not be surprised if any future action against Iran by Israel would have the full support and participation of Saudi Arabia !

Love the marketing. Get rid of extremism, oh by the way buy our arms.

And it seems I wasn't the only one !

Even the lame stream media have been.... strangely quiet on the subject !

1- No head scarves for either his wife or daughter !

I don't remember any previous foreign female politician or wife of one , ever doing that before !

It shows balls not bowing down to a country that demeans women so much !

2- The speech was good ! very close to the line ... but not stepping on it !

And lets face it , he was walking a very tight rope , considering Israel is next , and he just sold a truck load of goodies to Saudi Arabia !

Well done Donald !

Saudi extremists (Sunni) are against Iranian extremists (Shia).

The Iranians are supporting Hezbola in Jordan and Palestine....against the Israelis.

Of course you would be Tony...

It is what you have been told is best for us by the far right media.

Of course the fact that ISIS, Al Queda, Boko Haram and all the other international terrorist groups are Salafists funded by and run from the wahhabi, Salafist homeland (Saudi Arabia) who see Iran (the Shea homeland) as the fist enemy, even greater than the 'Great Devil' and the 'Little Devil' (that's USA and UK) makes no difference to you. Because although you hint at being a 'warrior patriot' what you really are is a right wing zombie killer.

Shame really, once I though you were the real deal and when it boiled down to it your loyalty was to your country not a right wing political philosophy.

We'll have to put that one down to a dig at the opposition. Why I believe even St Obama has made several disparaging remarks about Trump. And as far as consistency is concerned Trump said he would put America first. As much as I hate the Saudis and all they stand for with a $350bn deal under his belt that's exactly what he's done!

I am also well aware of what the Saudis stand for, but these days I suppose I have become very pragmatic and even cynical when it comes to politics and international affairs ! And while generally on the right, I find that applying left and right labels is a bit limiting these days!

Seems according to Trump he left the Middle East to visit Israel...

solved all the Middle East problems with one speech in Saudi...

Whoever wrote his speech showed no understanding of the Middle East, not of the differences between Sunni and Shia, and their motivations.

Not surprising I guess as the Trump administration got rid of the top level of international experts in the State Department, so there is no expert advice.

He did ( as usual) read it pretty badly - he has difficulty reading ; hence why his speech writers use short words and sentences.

Didn't exactly cover himself in glory in Israel either; and the Israelis are still pretty pissed off about him blowing one of their deep intelligence operations. As Netanyahu alluded to in his speech ( though the comment probably went right over Trumo's head)

The best part for me was seeing Steve Bannon looking decidedly uncomfortable as Trump praised Islam. Trump will definitely have upset his supporters with that softening of usual rhetoric.

I work in Saudi and we were all incredulous that he blamed Iran for ISIS etc. ISIS are Sunni, so ideologically opposed to Shia Iran. Guess where the Sunni group funding comes from!

That is why I asked Tony the difference. Is going against an opposition of ISIS going to help us? It may create new enemies.

Depends on how you define conflict !

But a wall is a barrier that can serve many purposes ! Conflict is just one of them !Remember the Berlin wall ?

In the states it can help limit illegal immigration , and drug trafficking !

So what is wrong with that ?

It will have no effect on drug trafficking. The war on drugs is over and drugs won.I think ive read also most immigrants to the usa fly in and over stay.I might be wrong.

Historically, walls have always proved more than useless; and in many cases have proved to exacerbate the problem they were supposed to solve.

Great Wall of China ;

Hadrians wall

Maginot line ( a form of wall)

Berlin Wall and East/West Germany fence.

To name a few. All totally porous, and all easily circumvented. And all " fell", not because of force, but simply because they actually did nothing.

And a wall cannot work at all unless every inch of it is patrolled and surveyed every second of every day 24/7/365.

You are only correct about the Maginot line !

All the others served their purpose , for a time ....then became ineffective or obsolete !

But that it he benefit of a physical wall ! History proves that they will come down when their purpose in not met any more!

My problem is mental barriers or walls .... unfortunately those are not as easy to bring down ....

There was a very interesting program on the radio the other day about the Great Hedge of India... that I'd never heard of. the Brits build a great big hedge along india to enforce the 'salt tax'. Oh and got the Indians to pay for it. In the end it turned out to be ineffectual as it just resulted in bribery and corruption.

I'm l laughing but it may be true.

You are actually missing the fact that the wall in the west bank in Israel worked !

Or is that a convenient lapse ?

But the Israel Palestine conflict is real. Mexico and usa is not a real conflict... or is it?

Depends on how you define conflict !

But a wall is a barrier that can serve many purposes ! Conflict is just one of them !Remember the Berlin wall ?

In the states it can help limit illegal immigration , and drug trafficking !

So what is wrong with that ?

Historically, walls have always proved more than useless; and in many cases have proved to exacerbate the problem they were supposed to solve.

Great Wall of China ;

Hadrians wall

Maginot line ( a form of wall)

Berlin Wall and East/West Germany fence.

To name a few. All totally porous, and all easily circumvented. And all " fell", not because of force, but simply because they actually did nothing.

And a wall cannot work at all unless every inch of it is patrolled and surveyed every second of every day 24/7/365.

mmm..... seems to me your "mental" wall is working very well !

You keep avoiding to acknowledge walls that worked , but coming up with ones that didn't !

The only mental barrier i see is the illusion of control that a wall gives you.

Bob .... tell that to those who were kept in the socialist paradise that was the DDR ! More precisely ... tell that to Berliners !

Or tell that to the North Koreans !

No wall or barriers there ..right ?

It all an illusion !

The Western Wall is a retaining wall. I believe you are talking about the Israeli West Bank Barrier, or Apartheid Wall, depending on which side you're standing on. As far as I know, Trump didn't visit this wall.

London and France

The Berlin Wall and the east west German border fence leaked like a sieve; people crossed at will via all sorts of routes.

The Great wall of China never did anything at all. It marked à boundary, people crossed it at will. It was symbolically " defeated" once, by attackers, in one place; and no one bothered to attack it again, but just crossed it.

Walls just do not work. The Israeli Wall doesn't work either. Despite billions of dollars of surveillance technology, remote weapons, and patrols.

Good of you to acknowledge you mistake for once !

But you are still confused about the sequence ... so lets recap :

You wrote :

"Apparently his visit to Israel and to the Western wall was actually just field research. He is also visiting the great wall of china and Hadrian's wall before deciding on his final plan for his Mexico wall"

So you mentioned his visit to the western wall , and suggested he might visit two others !

After Iamsterdam responded ;

"Apparently his visit to Israel and to the Western wall was actually just field research. He is also visiting the great wall of china and Hadrian's wall before deciding on his final plan for his Mexico wall"

I'm l laughing but it may be true."

I responded by suggesting another wall IN THE AREA that did work, as another example to add to your suggestion of Hadrian s wall , and the great wall of China , both of which did work too !

Do you get it now ?

Your historical view is very flawed in respect to the firs two examples!

The decline in attacks after it was built negates your assumption in the Israeli case !

It was very revealing to see how subservient Trump was with Putin...

No 'power' handshake but palm up giving Putin total dominance and of course the 'it's an honor to be here' comment, and of course no pushing Putin out of the way because he is the pres.

What a cowardly bully shit he is.
