Scot Nat's Dilema

Scot Nat's have, as other parties, released a few snippets from their manifesto.

One such includes calls for increased subsidies for gas and oil companies and to fund further exploration int these fossil fuels.

At the same time, in order to govern in Scotland, and to shove the independence agenda down everyone's throats, they have to form an alliance with the Green Party.

Anyone else find this amusing?

With a budget deficit over double that of the rest of the UK, then they are desperate to raise revenue without being seen to raise taxes or cut services.

A glut of oil, leading to a massive price cut in the market price, will kill independence.

One of the contributors to this, is the huge fracking industry in the US.

Well so much for reducing the carbon footprint just what we want more oil and more gas to burn

North sea oil has historically been of benefit to the treasury, however last year it was a net loss of around £200-300m. No party should be considering extra subsidies.

This is probably about the fact their support is dropping in the North East and it's being done in the hope of trying to get votes from people working in the oil industry rather than any actual well thought out policy.

North sea oil is about to cost us billions in decommisioning costs, it's no longer a resource that brings in income.

Also, the Greens will do as the SNP tell them. They may make the odd noise against their policies but ultimately they will do as their told.
