"What is wrong with being friendly to the rich?"
Nothing, but most have not made their fortunes in this country by creating a successful business. Many are billionaires and mult-millionaires are basically using the UK to launder money they have siphoned out of their own country. Often those countries are impoverished and the person was a high-ranking government official who robbed his own people blind. |

So shouldn't people make more effort to distinguish between people that have created wealth for others vrs people that have basically stolen wealth, rather than lump them into one unfriendly category?
Most swingers would be pissed off to be lumped in with paedophiles under a category of 'deviants', would they not? |

"Is the UK a tax haven? The tories are friendly to and favour the rich. But is it a good image to project globally? "
Can you give me some statistics that would indicate that a billionare in the UK would pay less than or a similar amount of tax to a billionare in the Cayman islands, Panama, Bermuda, Mauritius, Bahamas, Barbados? |

The Panama papers leak last year showed that some of the rich here move their wealth out of the UK to other places to avoid paying tax in the UK. |

But if the UK was a tax haven they'd be moving their money in, not out |

Exactly, currently there are better places than the UK the rich can put their money if they want to avoid tax. |

The article was mischief making and directed firmly at those who felt that a Leave vote would be sticking it to the "elites" who allegedly prospered at the expense of everyone else.
The so called "elites" won't suffer and the stories about ordinary people suffering because of Brexit are on the train track, already heading our way.
This is what journalists do - they find stories and contradictions and they publish them. |

The UK isn't a tax haven, however London is a draw for many rich people. Property investment, especially in London is very lucrative. The stability of our financial institutions, as well as our legal and political systems is also a big draw. All this doesn't mean that the rich are all necessarily residents of the UK for tax purposes though. |

Of course all this will change once we've left the EU won't it |
