In a SECRET ballot reaching highest point of hypocrisy imaginable, Saudi Arabia has been voted onto the UN Commission on the Status of Women, a body which claims to be dedicated to the “promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women”.
It is said that the UK, Belgium and Sweden were among five EU nations which voted for the Kingdom.
Has the UN reached its sell-by date?

Its not the UN thats the problem its the countries involved. And the countries arent going anywhere. Do you think the countries that voted for Saudi Arabia will stop doing crooked deals because the UN isnt around?
The UN does a lot of good and one of the worst criticisms to level at it is that it doesnt do more. But removing it entirely means all the benefit is gone. Replacing wont do any good because its the national governments that corrupt it and they'll do the same with or without a UN. |

It's interesting that your brain would register this as proof the UN had no credibility as opppsed to say the second gulf war, the rwandan genocide or the Second Italo-Ethiopian War if we trace it's history properly. |

It's interesting that your brain registers that the UN stopped the Rwandan genocide when UN 'peacekeepers' knowing it was taking place did nothing to stop it. And of course Dutch 'Peace keepers' ran away before the Srebrenica massacre. You clearly haven't traced its history properly.
Your approval of Saudi Arabia's presence on the Woman's Human Rights Committee is duly noted. And which Saudi Swingers clubs would you recommend? |

The UN deserves no credit for the end of the rwandan genocide at all. The UN has more deaths, sexual assaults and refugees on it's hands than any dictator alive today, albiet due to incompetence rather than design. So yes it is obsolete but it was long obsolete before Saudi Arabia got put on any committee. |

It's long been in need of a bit of reform, or at the very least a bit more backbone - but to say that it has fallen only due to SA's appointment within it is a fallacy. |

A bucket with a hole in it can be fixed. A chocolate teapot is never going to do the job its designed for. |
