" Makes me sick, the BBC, sky , and Itv, totally biased......educate yourselves sheep, we've got 6 weeks to turn this around. "
Can you clarify whether they are biased to the left or right, or for or against BREXIT, because, while many on here think they are biased most can't seem to agree on which way. Maybe an example would help also so we can make our own minds up. |

I'm guessing that by lumping the BBC and Sky together(!) the OP is suggesting a right leaning. As it would be very hard to see Sky as a liberal haven... |

"So please tell us which of the media is none biased? Keen to know as I don't see the BBC taking any sides "
The BBC historically tends to show bias to the government of the day. Effectively it's paymaster.
They also over play being unbiased, giving equal airtime to differing views, even when there is overwhelming evidence against one side. |

Can someone clarify that point for me please? So the license fee goes to the government, who then pass money onto the BBC? So surely if the money went straight to them, would that not give them independence and more credibility? Am I over simplifying and missing something here? |

I won't hold my breath.

Some complain that it's too left, or too right, but but maybe it's too up or too down? Huh, ever thought of that?;-) |

I stopped watching Main stream media years ago and get most of my news online.
When the fake news meme started and a list of fake news websites was published most of the places I get my news was on the list.
It didn't stop me from getting my news from those sources though.

everyone seems to expect the media whichever brand to take the side they belive is right.
I don't really see the BBC taking one or the other they sit on the fence which is where they should be.
Just because they are none comercial everyone says they represent the government.
itv chanel 4 ect comercial news and so will take the side of the biggest sponcer.

Only if they were able to set the value of the licence fee. That's the stick they are beaten with.
Sky etc. are always putting pressure on government to try and reduce the competition of the BBC. |

I think the most valuable thing it to be aware that news sources will have a slant in some way or another. Either intentional or not. And that best bet is to read a variety of sources and questions what you read. If someone is quoted as saying something in the paper or on a news website, that seems odd or sensational, look for the source and see the context of what they said and see if you come to the same conclusion or not.

The only way is to go on a low media diet. No TV, no Facebook... You'll find yourself with a totally different outlook to others who are in a constant state of panic about the world |

" Makes me sick, the BBC, sky , and Itv, totally biased......educate yourselves sheep, we've got 6 weeks to turn this around. "
Certainly agree with the first bit though the second part has echoes of Flash Gordon ("14 hours to save the earth..."!)
On a more serious note I watched a series of enlightening films on YouTube by neutral investigative reporter Tim Pool and others from Rebel Media who went to Sweden to investigate Trump's "last night in Sweden" comment.
On his departure Pool received a laughable comment on the Swedish Public Radio (SR) website from Ann Törnkvist who said that American journalist Tim Pool is a threat to democracy.
According to Törnkvist, the problem is not that Pool needed to leave Rinkeby or that a photographer from the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter was recently beaten by about 15 people in the same area. The threat, according to Törnkvist, is that foreign journalists visit socially troubled areas!?
Well Törnkvist can relax, as smug foreign journalists of course never felt the need to investigate Trump's comments as they already 'knew' that Sweden was a perfect multicultural melting pot and that of course there was no terrorism in Sweden...something which of course they still 'know' as they compile reports on beanbags in their home countries. Meanwhile in the real world Swedish postmen now boycott Rinkeby because it's too dangerous to deliver mail there! |

they must be doing something right if they are getting accused of bias from both sides.....
sometimes i think you don't know how well the uk companies do news coverage...
because when you see what the american companies do (msnbc... fox news) and then the likes of RT on top of that.... people in other countries would love coverage the way for example BBC News 24 does....
there is a reason for example why fox news has been for the last 10 years been fighting to keep sky news off US cable and satelite systems...

I'd broadly agree with this. They end up giving a lot of space to some frankly rather stupid ideas in the name of being unbiased, which itself is a bias. I also find their entire notion of a balanced debate to be flawed, they seem to believe that a guy with a chip on each shoulder is well balanced. Therefore sensible views tend to get drown out and the BBC seems to love repeating endless debates in a very academic sense.
Overall, public sector workers are more likely to vote labour than conservative and 55% of public sector workers belong to a trade union compared to just 14% of the private sector. You can see a breakdown here of the readership of the different newspapers and how they voted: https://yougov.co.uk/news/2015/06/08/general-election-2015-how-britain-really-voted/
