It seems that officers is getting "braver" and it was a case that only come out through social media, that stojan was from the former yugoslavia, he left there before war broke out in 1991 and he have lived in london ever since.
Last thursday he was detained by immigration officials in a detention centre in dorset, the local mp, keir starmer intervened and he said he was concerned the way he was detained and the fact that the proposal was to remove him before he had time to take legal advice or to make representation, at the bare minimum it must be right to make representation and have the opportunity to consult an solicitor.
He have got lots of support now and even gary linekar, john snow and others tweeted about it.
He is now released for 2 weeks to get it sorted or to get kicked out.
Former yogoslavia doesnt exist anymore, it is now serbia, he have no country to go back to, only his elderly mother lives there, so they dont know what to do, is democracy being taken away slowly? |

"So he's lived here for over 26 years and not had time to take legal advice?" He have lived here legally and payed tax like everyone else, there was no reason for them to take him, it will be on the news tonight.

"Was there something missing from the start of the OP? Missing in what way?"
Maybe I'm just reading it funny, I thought maybe you had copied and pasted and missed out a sentence or two at the start. |

The quoted text made it sound like he was here illegally and had only just been caught up by immigration. |

I have had a similar case. You have to have a British parent, born or neutralised. Or they have to have a good reason to be a British resident. When I had to renew my passport they said I wasn't British because both my parents were not British when I was born.
In the end I renewed it in the country with no problem. It's also beuaricracy at it's worse. My parents and I had British passports which went through all the checks when we first applied for it. |

Sounds right to me, but I don't know the ins and outs of this particular case. |

I thought that with this title the thread was going to be about cabinet members including the PM flying around the world to find countries to trade with us with crap human rights records like the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
