Big kick off over Hungary holding migrants in detention centres while their claims are being processed.
The UN charter on refugees. The EU Dublin accord both say refugees should seek asylum in the first safe country. (Given that these refugees/migrants (probably a mixture of both) have already passed through a few other countries including Serbia.
Is it the right thing to do? or should they let them spread out and roam freely throughout Europe with no further checks (as Hungary is in Shengen and there would be no further border checks.? |

I think the big problem was that the EU has made efforts to ensure that we all tried to live as one country but didnt know what to do during the migrant crises and looked uncoordinated, this came on top of wide scale Islamic terrorisim and wide scale Islamic refugees, Muslims unfortunately have been the worst effected by Islamic terrorisim so we sort of had a double edge sword.
I believe people should be free to choose who they live with in society, who am i to tell an Islamic country that they should take in Christians and allow them to build church's and follow there cultural beliefs!.
The same would obviously apply to Christian Hungary.
I think people should just get along in life regardless but i realise others wont agree with me |

It's extraordinary how a country which defends its borders and carries out identity and background checks on 'migrants' is deemed to have a controversial policy!? Many lives have been ended prematurely in other EU countries because customs, border staff and other civil servants have let political correctness trump effective controls and policing. |

I presume 'political correctness' is your lazy name for 'policies I disagree with, which mostly have to do with treating fellow humans with respect'?

No, it's my accurate term for lazy PC civil servants who for example rather than do their jobs in identifying and doing background checks automatically believe a 30 year old when he tells them he's 15. And as you're such an exemplary humanitarian how many 15 year old refugees are you currently fostering? |

Ahh ok, cool. I thought you were implying it was a EU problem, not one with national civil servants.
And nice diversion, but I'm not fostering any 15 year old refugees.

Hungary?... You meant Orban: He is corrupt and in need of smog screens, as many as he can. The "migration crisis" suits him very well to the purpose of hiding his incapacities as state man; Hungarians can tell you more. |

"Hungary probably hasn't forgotten the last mass muslim migration to their country, 150 years of occupation, they're about as popular as russians."
Ahh....the Ottoman Empire.....that bastion of Islamic culture....that butchered millions of Christians? That one? |

Where is the "big kick off”? All countries have immigration detention centre, the UK is no different. As long as they are appropriately sheltered, fed and clothed I see no issue with keeping them in a detention centre whilst they are being processed. If they are subsequently given refugee status I hope that other European countries, as well as other countries around the world, share the burden and offer sanctuary to them. |

I cannot imagine the heartbreak for some of the 15year olds.
Knowing that by accepting refugee status,
Would mean they may never see their grandchildren again.

"Are we somehow trying to suggest that Hungary hasn't changed politically and culturally since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire? "
Culturally no. Still very much a Christian country....and still very suspicious of muslims as the Ottomans only got out of power there after the First World War.
They are detaining and processing them according to UN and EU protocol. Genuine refugees can then apply to other countries should they wish. Economic migrants can be sent back....I thought that's how it is supposed to work? |

Is it me or are we going off topic. The OP and articles are all about the conditions of the camps while they wait for processing...
Which is different from the fear of islamisation and the ottoman empire.
Claiming asylum or refugees are not a new concept. They've been about for many decades (official process). What kind of conditions should they be held during the asylum process? |

Well the OP was claiming that it was "kicking off" because of the camps existed, not because of the conditions in them. I can only assume that he was unaware that every country has them and has for years |

On your second point. Not sure on your angle. You know they can claim asylum from the first safe country they arrive in. It means they can fly to the UK and claim for it in the UK. Or leave to another country and apply for asylum in the UK.
Serbia is not part of the Dublin accord and the restrictions were lifted for the crisis last year. It is only valid for EU members. |

Iran has had Afghan refugee camps since the 1970s |

Personally I think they should be kept in accommodation which would be rated as 4* after all many of these economic migrants have struggled for ages. And it would be only fair to allow them some decent comfort with Irish Linen bed sheets, a pool gym sauna and solarium whilst they await onward processing to the lands of milk and honey |

My point is let them stay in the regions they originate from and the religion and culture they understand and appreciate |
