Farage and Banks want their one and only MP thrown out of the party. Is this good political strategy? They have shown again and again how hard it is to get elected to Westminster, is ir wise to throw out the one man you've got there?

Apparently they are annoyed he blocked a knighthood for Farage.

How odd they are so desperate for this, considering they billed themselves as anti establishment.

Yet another falsehood the fucking liars peddled.

Actually he didn't block the knighthood, but was asked to intervene when the knighthood was refused - which he did do and was knocked back again.

As stated above there is nothing "new" about these politicians just out for themselves-like ALL the rest.

Also Farage would have had to quit as an MEP and lose his salary - which we are all paying for. Probably it would have had some effect on his pension too!

Where does it say that a knighthood bars you from being an MEP.?

It's a crying shame they received more votes than the SNP, yet are treated like a political irrelevance.

"It's a crying shame they received more votes than the SNP, yet are treated like a political irrelevance."

Poverty is a crying shame, famine is a crying shame. UKIP's inevitable decline into political irrelevance is to be expected, smugly enjoyed yet most likely be responded to with a resounding "meh"

Farage is just butthurt because Carswell said Farage should instead be given an OBE for “services to headline writers”.

It was if he went into the Lords that he would have had to step down as an MEP, not the knighthood.

I believe that it was a peerage that would have meant having to resign his MEP post

Where did I say that? I've not commented on this thread before this post. Besides the UK did get the memo because Ukip won the MEP elections in 2014.

In a few years time they will be despised and most people who voted Leave will be embarrassed and/or angry at the way they were taken in.

That's what happens when you are capable of critical thinking for whatever reason.

This leave voter wont be angry, and certainly wasn't taken in, as I longed for withdrawal from EU a long time ago

In what way do you think that leave voters were taken in ?

On a simplistic basis everyone had all the information necessary to make their decision and voted accordingly .

Which would any rational person want to eat restrict out number of trading partners by remaining in the EU. We are probably lucky that we decided to leave before it collapsed completely .

It's impossible to work out the infighting going on in UKIP.

Leaders coming and going. MEPs brawling. Local party activists resigning.

UKIP have achieved what they wanted with May out Brexiting them to ensure her political position.

They don't serve a purpose anymore. It's like being unemployed. Too much time and you go off the rails until you can refocus. What's to refocus on?

The quality of the debate was appalling and the amount of misinformation put out was disgraceful.

However, leaving that aside, and taking into account the information was there, what that really shows is the shocking ability to adequately employ logic and critical thinking by the leave voters. Frankly it is so embarrassing it is offensive.

Yes if he is not a good MP for them it is a good policy,,other parties should follow suit.

Corbyn should sack all the MP's that want him out,May should sack all MP's that do not follow her on Brexit, have an election and shut the Remainers up for good.

I thought that every household received a pamphlet and we were constantly warned of the dire consequences of leaving to the extent that some voters who might have voted to leave actually voted Remain .

Due to these warnings I nearly voted to remain but decided that it would be immoral to vote for selfish reasons and self interest.

Luckily I realised that paying more into the EU than we get out was pointless and consequently came to my senses and vote to leave .

This vote did not require logic or critical thinking.

It was, and is, perfectly fine to have made a purely emotional argument and decide on that basis alone.

It is also perfectly acceptable to hope for the best and have faith in a positive or neutral economic outcome in the medium to long term.

Some people accept the complete uncertainty but prefer that to being in the EU. Again, fair enough.

What is disingenuous is to try to make a logical argument for leaving being positive. The data to back that up does not exist either socially or economically. Assertions and quoting politicians "pledges" and "promises" is not that. This is further underlined by the inability and refusal to respond directly to difficult questions.

The vote did not require logic and critical thinking? Of course it fucking REQUIRED it. It might not have got it, not always the fault of the voter, but it required it.

What an utterly stupid thing to say.

The thing that took us out of the dark ages, actually the thing that raised us above the other primates, was the development of our brains. Human progress has rested on our use of logic and reason. It has relied on the employment of the scientific method. It is that which has led to all our greatest advances.

I welcome the admission that leave voters decision wasn't based on the use of a working brain but while brexiters want to take our country back, the rest of us want to continue taking the country forwards.

The only way we could have an election now would be for May to call a vote of no confidence in herself. Whilst that may ultimately be a tactic she employs, I do think she'd find it hard to swallow.

She would. She is showing a fair bit of arrogance since she came to power.

The other thing is that the opposition are in no position to contest an election at the moment, so they would need to deny her a 2/3 majority by voting that they had confidence in the government.

Difficult to say.

Had Labour won the last election we wouldn't have had the divisive referendum and the calamitous, all consuming distraction brexit provides from all the other issues. We also wouldn't have had to put up with a further 2 tyears of Osbornes ruinous fiscal policy. Eventually most Labour policies have been quietly ushered in anyway.

That is not what you asked, though.

With Corbyn, I'm sorry to say he does not appear to have any great issue or hurry with Brexit. His focus is on just about everything else.

I think this demonstrates poor leadership and a fair degree of incompetence in understanding the major issue facing the country today. As an opposition leader he is found extremely wanting up to this moment. I fear he would be equally wanting if he was PM and I also feel there is a lack of ability in the front bench of the opposition. That is also true of the front bench of the government, though Hammond and May have generally been competent enough in many respects.

However, because Corbyn is far more concerned about other things, such as the NHS and social care, wages, the self employed, schools and the railways I think these areas would receive the attention they require while brexit would probabaly amble along. He'd take his time, scrap this ridiculous self imposed 31 March Article 50 deadline and all in all brexit would be left until the next election when the Party's would be able to offer their own manifesto based on a better idea of what it would mean to leave the EU.
