Should the Tories release the legal cost of challenging the high court decision ?
Up here in Scotland in FMQ's the Tories have the cheek to ask if it was worth while spending £130,000 on legal fee's yet the Tories in Westminster are refusing to tell us what they spent on legal fee's |

But that's just typical of the Tories double standards.
Of course they should admit how much it cost? |

Well we know that they have to pick up all the legal costs of those who won + the court fees + their own costs...
So I am guessing that the bill will run into millions, barristers don't come cheap and as the court and case rises in importance so do their fees. Of course number of barristers getting in on the action also goes up.
But don't worry the government have very deep pockets, ours! |

Funny that Remainers moan about this yet they were happy for David Cameron and the government to waste £9 million quid of British taxpayers money on the pro EU one sided propaganda leaflets that were sent out to every house in the UK during the referendum. People voting Leave didn't want this blatant waste of money being spent in their name on these leaflets yet 'all' of us had to pay for it through our taxes. |

i wasn't and said so on here about it, equally that May challenged the High Court ruling was in my opinion more about her ego than actually winning it in the Supreme Court..
Centaur, what are your views on the actual amount spent on challenging the High Courts ruling..?

It's legitimate government business, and it's an important constitutional judgement.
I'm sure it was expensive, but it's just the price of doing business.
For such an important constitutional issue, it's right that it was taken the the supreme court. |

Funny that as i wasnt happy with Cameron wasted money on those leaflets here.
If the Tories are gonna moan about other governments on spenting money on court cases then hide away what they spent on their own case speaks volumes. |

During the EU referendum campaign plenty of Remainers on here posted to say they were happy with the taxpayer funded government leaflets. Now some people are not happy about the government spending taxpayers money fighting the Brexit court cases. Truth is there will always be a proportion of the population who are not happy about how their tax money is being spent by government. |

Both were proper government business, I dont have a problem with either. But I do agree, that there will always be a proportion of the population who aren't happy, we would all cut the cake a different way. |

What? You have a very selective false memory on this. The Remainers on here and out there in the real world largely condemned that leaflet as a bad use of public funds.
Maybe you should change your stuck record and do something that will make this exit from the EU have a successful outcome for us all instead of perpetuating a division that is harmful to this country.

No selective memory at all, there WERE remainers on here who during the referendum openly rubbed Leavers faces in it over those leaflets being sent out.
As for your other point about perpetuating division surely that falls on the Remainers who refuse to accept the referendum result, epitomised by people like Tony Blair and Peter Mandelson calling for the people to 'rise up' against Brexit. The referendum is over, Leave won, I just want to get on with Brexit now and move forward but 8 months after the vote the government still hasn't triggered article 50 yet. |

You do know your messiah Farage stated just before the referendum that if Remain won by a narrow margain like 52 to 48 % ironically, then he would fight to have another referendum.

Do you actually believe Farage would've got another referendum if Leave lost? I think the term 'snowball's chance in hell' sums it up. If Leave lost then it would've been brushed under the carpet for another 40 years. |

I didn't say he would get one, he said he'd basically fight tooth and nail to get another one. Not much unlike what Blair is doing.
Now if the narrow margain result had been reversed you'd be all for Farage doing that but not when Leave won with its narrow margain |
