immigrant deportation "Get them Out"

The Trump administration has issued tough guidelines to widen the net for deporting illegal immigrants from the US, and speed up their removal.

Undocumented immigrants arrested for traffic violations or shop-lifting will be targeted along with those convicted of more serious crimes.

The memos do not alter US immigration laws, but take a much tougher approach towards enforcing existing measures.

There are an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the US.

.

the Trump administration essentially will "prioritise" the deportation of almost all undocumented immigrants, everywhere

.

Under the new guidance, agents can expedite deportations for undocumented immigrants who are unable to prove they have been in the country for more than two years, located anywhere in the US

.

Mr Kelly's memo also includes instructions to enforce an existing provision of the US Immigration and Nationality Act that allows authorities to send some people caught illegally at the border back to Mexico, regardless of where they are from.

**It is unclear whether the US has authority to force Mexico to accept foreigners**but we don't want to know or worry about that small point, the main thing is "Get them Out"

should the UK also follow this way of thought

Mexico does sound okay, then again so does France

Would any of us accept that if our neighbours had squatting going on that they could expell them and we would have to take them in our homes..?

Surely repatriation is to the country of the persons birth, who pays for that is another debate..

Mexico will in all likelihood say no to none Mexicans..

indeed

And would Mexico have to prove they were "non Mexican"

guess it opens a can of worms

If they are stopping them "at the border" then it isn't a case of sending them back to Mexico...as they are already IN Mexico.

Maybe it will prompt Mexico to sort its southern border out.

Call me naive...but isn't that why countries have borders and border checks....to ensure those entering are doing so legally?

The rules for deporting illegal immigrants from USA have been in place for years..(most countries have similar rules...including the UK).....Trump seems to be the first president to actually be enforcing them...as he promised to do.

Surely the biggest news here is..."politician keeps electoral promise!"

Should we do the same? Every now and then a case makes the news...then the human rights lawyers get involved....seven years down the line the authorities loose the case because the individual has developed an attachment to a stray cat (this did actually happen in a real case!).

Genuine refugees are one thing...illegal immigrants another story!

"It is funny: Peoples who complain about foreigners are from Lesley, Crewe and places I never heard of in my life; I wonder if there are foreigners where you live... Probably the hard working ones in the Chinese take away you may have.

It leads me to believe that you entertain your gloomy days watching Jeremy Kyle and Britain First videos whilst claiming benefits from tax payers, many of them professional and well educated foreigners.

"

Maybe you should lead your beliefs elsewhere, there are 4 different nationalities in my family and I spend half my life in my home in Spain. At my expense not the taxpayer. A typical ignorant post.

The UK government is far to soft on illegal Immigration. People who are found to be here illegally should be deported to country of origin immediately, no questions asked. They have no right to be here.

Thumbs up to Trump for doing this its about time, Trump actually has a backbone unlike the spineless Obama before him.

If the people working at the Chinese takeaway are here legally then great, no problem. If they are here illegally they should be deported. What is wrong with that?

That's what you think and you're allowed to think that. But the Spanish kingdom may think differently after brextit and study ways to make you leave the Spanish kingdom as you are now studying ways for foreigners to leave the UK.

Oh odd. Never mind then. Just very strange that you countered a comment wondering what might happen if Spain were to deport Brits after Brexit and you seemed to imply it didn't apply to you. Which would imply you don't travel there in a UK passport. I guess it was the standard "answer a different question" tactic. Or mis-comprehension.

Why are you so certain they would be there legally still? I mean, the UK govt isn't even sure which EU citizens would be legally here or not after Brexit. Why do you feel so sure Spain wouldn't behave in the same way a UK and deport UK citizens if the UK did the same to it's citizens?

Or is this a case of Brits in Spain are expats and not immigrants?

Right, that is exactly my point. Spain will decide who is there legally just as the UK will. So what crystal ball do you have that makes you so sure that you will still be 'legal' there? I mean, I'm hoping you will be, to be sure. Just as I'm hoping that the UK govt don't boot out all the EU nationals here. But the comment was what happens if Spain do decide to boot Brits out? And your response was "whatever, I'm not illegal". So either you have some crystal ball to predict the future, or you just don't care what your future is in Spain.... which is perfectly fine, just seems odd as you seem to have quite an investment in the place.

After brextit, the Spanish kingdom will likely be discontent with the amount of British immigrants in their territory; more than One Million... I see many Brit tabloids complaining about 800.000 polish expats which is less than 1.000.000; also consider the UK has roughly 65 million inhabitants whereas the Spanish kingdom has 47 million. In other words, British immigration are in a bigger percentage in Spain than polish in the UK.

-Matt

what don't you get? The UK will decide who is here legally as you say and Spain will do the same. Or do you think that nobody will be able to live abroad legally, or by whatever laws/criteria are brought in?

Brits in Spain are ex pats and immigrants in the same way as a Spaniard in the UK would be an ex pat to a Spaniard. Why do you try to be divisive?

-Matt

After brextit, the Spanish kingdom will likely be discontent with the amount of British immigrants in their territory; more than One Million... I see many Brit tabloids complaining about 800.000 polish expats which is less than 1.000.000; also consider the UK has roughly 65 million inhabitants whereas the Spanish kingdom has 47 million. In other words, British immigration are in a bigger percentage in Spain than polish in the UK.

"

you really think so? The Spanish would take more Brits if they could, you obviously have no idea of the situation and the economy there

Maybe you should lead your beliefs elsewhere, there are 4 different nationalities in my family and I spend half my life in my home in Spain. At my expense not the taxpayer. A typical ignorant post.

Interesting... what makes immigrants so good for their economy? As opposed to our economy, where they are perceived (despite evidence to the contrary) to be bad?

Do the Spanish themselves feel the same way? And it is just Brits they love? What about other EU nationalities, e.g. Polish, Germans, Romanians, etc?

I have no crystal ball but why would they kick someone out who does nothing but contribute to their economy, through spending and taxes? And yes I pay tax there even though I don't reside/work there. It's called a non resident wealth tax, so if they want to give that up, fine, I'll just invest back in the UK

Economy problems in Spain and 1.000.000 plus British immigrants: You unconsciously implied a direct relation between the two. Therefore, Taking more brits would only help to worsen the economic problems Spain already has, which makes sense to me considering the average age of the British immigration in Spain.

No idea, but I would say the same about the EU passport-holding, UK-residing colleague of mine. She has a company here, a house here, and probably pays more tax than the median person even takes home in the UK. Yet she is still uncertain of her future here post-Brexit.

completely wrong. Without them they would collapse altogether. People who emigrate to Spain generally take their money there to invest in properties and businesses and blimey, even spend their pensions there. They don't go to work in the factories or wherever, taking work from the locals and depressing wages

OK, right, so when you say "The Spanish would take more Brits if they could" what you actually meant was "The Spanish would take more rich people if they could". Fine, so how do you think they will decide who stays and goes? Would it be like Malta where you can get residency if you invest above a certain amount of money there? I mean, I'd imagine there are a lot of UK retirees in Spain, would they contribute enough to stay?

There is talk of one way of 'taking back control of our borders' would be to only allow in EU citizens who already have a job offer here. Clearly that approach doesn't work with retirees in Spain.

Or is this a case of Brits in Spain are expats and not immigrants?

-Matt

what don't you get? The UK will decide who is here legally as you say and Spain will do the same. Or do you think that nobody will be able to live abroad legally, or by whatever laws/criteria are brought in?

Brits in Spain are ex pats and immigrants in the same way as a Spaniard in the UK would be an ex pat to a Spaniard. Why do you try to be divisive?

-Matt

After brextit, the Spanish kingdom will likely be discontent with the amount of British immigrants in their territory; more than One Million... I see many Brit tabloids complaining about 800.000 polish expats which is less than 1.000.000; also consider the UK has roughly 65 million inhabitants whereas the Spanish kingdom has 47 million. In other words, British immigration are in a bigger percentage in Spain than polish in the UK.

you really think so? The Spanish would take more Brits if they could, you obviously have no idea of the situation and the economy there

-Matt

no, mainly the ones with money. Go into any estate agents near the coasts and they will all have and English and Russian speaker

Maybe you should lead your beliefs elsewhere, there are 4 different nationalities in my family and I spend half my life in my home in Spain. At my expense not the taxpayer. A typical ignorant post.

Oh you are part of the 1+ million Brits in Spain?... Wonder if Spain will deport a lot of Brits to Gibraltar after brextit: Dont think Gibraltar will cope, Oh well.

Economy problems in Spain and 1.000.000 plus British immigrants: You unconsciously implied a direct relation between the two. Therefore, Taking more brits would only help to worsen the economic problems Spain already has, which makes sense to me considering the average age of the British immigration in Spain.

completely wrong. Without them they would collapse altogether. People who emigrate to Spain generally take their money there to invest in properties and businesses and blimey, even spend their pensions there. They don't go to work in the factories or wherever, taking work from the locals and depressing wages"

Many polish and other EU migrants do exactly the same in the UK; is that bad for your economy? Also consider they are much younger on average, not the case of British migration in Spain.

Unlike workers, who don't spend anything into the economy? I mean, you've already touched on the 'lump of labour fallacy', and as we know, immigration doesn't depress wages. So I'm still failing to see why immigrants are so much more beneficial to Spain than the UK.

I think at the end of the day, immigration is no better/worse for Spain than it is the UK. And that any strange notion you have based on that that Spain wouldn't act in the same way as the UK in terms of if the UK decides to kick EU immigrants out is purely speculation. We just don't know.

So in conclusion, and getting back to the point... we don't know what Spain will do with the 1M+ UK immigrants there after brexit. And your current UK passport will not necessarily have any more automatic rights on that after brexit, than what a Spanish passport will have in the UK after brexit.

No immigration does not depress wages. As you say, we could go round and round on this. Or just read studies done on it. Worst I've seen is one several years old saying something like a 10% increase in immigrant workers would depress wages by 0.3%. That has since been superseded by studies that show that actually there is no real effect.

And then to your second claim. No, I don't think *all immigration* is good. However I don't see how anyone can define what is or isn't 'good' immigration. So on that basis, I don't think we should restrict immigration artificially based on what passport someone has. We already restrict based upon criminal records, and I think that is sufficient (although seems our implementation might not always be up to scratch on that).

One of the critical issues for the ageing ex pat community in France and Spain will be access to healthcare. At the moment the EHIC is worth its weight in gold for retirees and if/when that goes, the risk to many retirees may be just to high.

There is a very real possibility of hundreds of thousands of pensioners having to return to the UK because they cannot get medical insurance at any kind of reasonable premium after having just one minor medical incident.

The reason that there are not as many British retirees in Florida (for example) as in Spain is that the EHIC is valid for all medical conditions, even pre-existing ones, whereas private medical insurers will either not insure pre-existing conditions or will charge a significant loading factor to the premium.

Loss of the EHIC will be catastrophic for hundreds of thousands of pensioners who currently live in Europe.

Not to worry though, they can sell their houses in Spain and France at a loss and come back to the UK care system that will be in much better shape with the extra £350 million a week it will get from Brexit.

I don't see any changes to EHIC no matter what Brexit we end up with. The Europeans and the British have too much to lose over it.

Here is more info on the EHIC http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559 ...Brits are risking to lose it after brextit. Hope you understand that you're shooting yourselves with this decision and hope you don't call Europeans vindictive when studying ways for dealing with an older than average British migration, in countries like Spain.

The EHIC card is only a Government backed medical insurance card.

Each government agrees to pay the medical costs of their citizens in another country, providing that citizen has a valid EHIC card.

I would have thought (don't laugh) that negotiations over this ought to be straightforward and quick.

So, are you saying that the EHIC card is independent of our EU membership and that our govt could still 'pay privately' and honour it even if we left the EU?

Interesting thought... so would it come out of our NHS budget? Would it be a reciprocal agreement? The Vote Leave TV adverts made a big thing about the pressure our NHS is under from EU migrants and that when we leave that our doctor's waiting rooms will all be lovely and empty and no waiting. How does that fit with this?

It is an EU scheme and yes, it would have to be reciprocal to work, that goes without saying.

I suppose that someone will do the sums, as someone would obviously pay more and it would never be a perfect balance.

I did see sometime back, that some Spanish hospitals were asking for credit cards in arrival, irrespective if you held an EHIC card.

it is not independant of EU membership but how hard would it be to put a system in place/keep things as they are? Some none EU countries already have a reciprocal agreement with EU countries. Why so negative about everything?

Oh, not being negative about it... just curious what people's thoughts on it as a system would be. As, obviously our govt (ie us taxpayers) would need to pay for it if it is not reciprocal. And if it is reciprocal, then those that voted to leave because they feel their doctor's surgeries and A&Es are busy due to EU immigrants (as opposed to chronic government underfunding, mismanagement and fuck-ups) would be up in arms as they voted to leave the EU, not leave-the-EU-but-still-have-holiday-health-insurance.

It won't be too long before health insurance becomes more or less compulsory.

I don't travel anywhere without it, and always keep my EHIC card upto date.

It still staggers me the amount of people that visit the UK in the belief that our Health Service is free, and don't have any insurance whatsoever.

As with most Brexiters, you continue the train of thought that all Brexit discussions are going to be a piece of cake because the UK will deservedly get what everything that we want because anything that is not in favour of the UK is stupid and unnecessarily punitive.

Why not take a more pragmatic view. Spain exports mainly young, healthy people to the UK and these people are unlikely to cost the Spanish very much in health care costs in any kind of reciprocal arrangement. On the other hand, the Costa's are full of ageing Brits and there is already a hugely negative perception in Spain that British pensioners are bed blocking and draining the Spanish healthcare system to the detriment of the Spanish.

Just exactly what motivation would there be in Spain to retain a reciprocal agreement considering their own financial situation as well as the political situation in Spain? Do you think that they should retain something that the Spanish themselves perceive to be unfair and which is perceived to be ruining their own healthcare system - just so Brits can think it i all fair and right?

Illegal immigrants are breaking the law. Clue is in the name, key word 'illegal'.

Whose law?

See the irony yet?

Everybody's law. If something is illegal then that stands universally. How can you say something that is illegal is legal? Try to make sense if you'd like a response. Many thanks. "

Everyone's law?

I'm relatively sure that the first Europeans in the USA were not interested in the laws of the people who already lived there. They had their own laws which were directory contradictory...

I don't understand your argument? The reciprocal agreement means that for any treatment a Brit recieves in Spain the money is claimed back from the NHS and vice versa so it costs the Spanish nothing and I've never come across any negative perceptions from the Spanish or accusations of bed blocking. In fact the three hospitals I've visited in Spain have been half empty. Maybe thats why so many of their nurses move abroad, to find work

"The Trump administration has issued tough guidelines to widen the net for deporting illegal immigrants from the US, and speed up their removal.

The social security number was valid. Everyone makes the assumption that you can't be illegal because you are British ....so no-one checks. I have a really good pension to claim and can get my when my kids are of age to sponsor me in. Ultimately its a crazy law because I left despite having kids who were US citizens ... not sure what their rights were in that situation.

My father was in a similar position (although I wasn't born in the US). But I remember him singing Sting's "Englishman in New York" a lot lol. Before NY we lived in Virginia and I remember there was something crazy like having to pay 'property tax' on a car. I remember him ranting about the absurdity of it. But apparently that was normal there. US tax is weird.

So as you sit there in the UK you think that everyone who comes to the UK should have Health Insurance so that the NHS is not paying for "health tourists."

Why would the Spanish not want to do the same? Who wants or needs to be bothered with a ton of administration and aggravation if it doesn't really benefit you?

In my opinion, the Spanish would quite rightly discard the buearocracy of any kind of reciprocal health card arrangement and just insist on Health Insurance because that would be far easier for them to administer and it would not detrimentally affect young Spanish people who travelled to the UK because their premiums would be relatively small. It would also be beneficial politically because the Spanish can hand on heart say - no more British health tourists stealing from us.

But I thought that this was the cynical sub plot to make the whole family leave? One arrest and anything from 3-6 deportations m. Maximum efficiency. The US you see is a caring society and would not break up a family. Making the whole family go, prevents the issue of breaking up families.

Maybe you should lead your beliefs elsewhere, there are 4 different nationalities in my family and I spend half my life in my home in Spain. At my expense not the taxpayer. A typical ignorant post.

Oh you are part of the 1+ million Brits in Spain?... Wonder if Spain will deport a lot of Brits to Gibraltar after brextit: Dont think Gibraltar will cope, Oh well.

wherever I am I'm not illegal mate, keep up

So, you enter Spain on a non-UK passport?

-Matt

no, a UK passport. Why, is that illegal?

-Matt

and why would they deport Brits after Brexit if they are there legally?

Why are you so certain they would be there legally still? I mean, the UK govt isn't even sure which EU citizens would be legally here or not after Brexit. Why do you feel so sure Spain wouldn't behave in the same way a UK and deport UK citizens if the UK did the same to it's citizens?

Or is this a case of Brits in Spain are expats and not immigrants?

-Matt

what don't you get? The UK will decide who is here legally as you say and Spain will do the same. Or do you think that nobody will be able to live abroad legally, or by whatever laws/criteria are brought in?

Brits in Spain are ex pats and immigrants in the same way as a Spaniard in the UK would be an ex pat to a Spaniard. Why do you try to be divisive?

OK, so what skills do elderly British retiring to the Costa-Del-Sunshine bring with them?

I'm no actually saying they don't bring value to the local economy. I'm being devils advocate here as there seems to often be this odd double standard in the UK that we are fine for our elderly to be immigrants (sorry, 'expats') in another country, but we don't like anyone coming to the UK as an immigrant. There have been calls to make sure we only bring in the "right" immigrants. My point is that how do we define "right". If we say that we only allow in those of working age with jobs, then are we happy for other EU countries to boot out our citizens that don't match the same criteria? I'm not saying the necessarily would, but to assume that they wouldn't judge us by the same standards is a pretty entitled view.

"One of the critical issues for the ageing ex pat community in France and Spain will be access to healthcare.

Not to worry though, they can sell their houses in Spain and France at a loss and come back to the UK care system that will be in much better shape with the extra £350 million a week it will get from Brexit."

Surly if you move abroad to say Spain full time the NHS Ehic shouldn't cover you anymore anyway especially once it's out of date as its a resident based health care system.

Could it be the vast majority of expats don't declare to their old UK doctor that they no longer live in the UK to mislead the NHS into believing they still qualify for NHS payment?

Interesting... what makes immigrants so good for their economy? As opposed to our economy, where they are perceived (despite evidence to the contrary) to be bad?

Do the Spanish themselves feel the same way? And it is just Brits they love? What about other EU nationalities, e.g. Polish, Germans, Romanians, etc?

-Matt

Immigrants are not perceived to be bad; too many immigrants and immigrants without needed skills are perceived as unwanted.

-Matt"

Ok I agree they may not have skills but have money instead. It would have been more accurate for me to have said immediate value rather than skills.

Right, exactly. So would be apply the same rules for immigrants here? You can come here if you have a certain amount of money? How much money? Considering the current govt is suggesting that EU citizens in the UK should be deported if they earn less than £35,000... which is above what your average nurse, teacher, etc earns... clearly our government are rubbish at setting suitable thresholds.

And remember these elderly heading to the sun are retired, so perhaps don't have an income, but maybe living off savings. So, what would we do if we were to use that as a measure? Would we require the inspection of people's bank balances? What if my savings are in shares? or property? etc? How do you envisage the government implementing a suitable mechanism for assessing someones 'immediate value'?

I thought for a while that uk (London, Surrey and Brighton, that's how I perceived the uk) was a modern and open minded country; I am somehow tempted to still consider London as the capitol of the world. But before the brextit vote and after I understood that there is a problem with racism in my beloved uk; I ignore it was there, i know now it is a trend. I can not at all and by no means justify their racist arguments, and if it is not a racist argument (they now talk of right immigrants, but after 2 years they will target all immigrants; and after 4 it will be the dark Brits that were born in the uk and so on) then it is the "taking back control of our country", as if they control it... Or "the people's mandate", ignoring on purpose that 17M decided to leave whilst 16M decided to remain, in a CONSULTATIVE referemdum that tells the world you are a polarized and partly confused mass (blame your tv, tabloids and politicians for the confusion; blame the Putin regime if you want and also the Europeans for supporting your democracy funding ukip).

My dear Europeans from uk: You have been and are being conned by your politicians and led to embrace an alternative that will make you poorer in the coming ten years; you will then notice how happy you were... Your kids will be then (if they are not now - 70% of the under 25 voted to remain) considering migrating to a modern and liberal place in the world.

Yes, you can find racism if you look, as you can find most types of intolerance but if you really feel that way, then perhaps you are living in the wrong country.

Then it must be a north/south thing! There is no racial tension where I live. And we have plenty of reason to have it here.

My community has been.told to stop being too kind to Syrian migrants, my Polish employee loves this country and the opportunities that it affords him and the Portuguese are always willing to stop and talk.

Our community is open and tolerant, we have enough problems without letting any elements of racism creep in.

Can I have some of whatever you are on!

The UK is the most inclusive and tolerant country that I've been to, and that includes Canada!

Yes, you can find racism if you look, as you can find most types of intolerance but if you really feel that way, then perhaps you are living in the wrong country. Your off ya head mate.My mixed race children would laugh at what you just said. There's plenty of racism you dont need to look for it. It finds you just walkind down the street.

Then it must be a north/south thing! There is no racial tension where I live. And we have plenty of reason to have it here.

you really think so? The Spanish would take more Brits if they could, you obviously have no idea of the situation and the economy there

-Matt

It's fairly simple. They go there for the sunshine and the cheap way of living. Nothing sinister about it (unless you are one that worry about having their collar felt)

Why do you think they are sinister?

-Matt

There is nothing sinister about people from all over Europe wanting to retire to Spain. They do it for the sunshine and the cheap way of living.

If people want to come to the UK to retire, then i'll be happy to see them. The grey pound is always welcome.

OK, just confused why you said there was nothing sinister about it, when no-one had mentioned anything about is being sinister.

I fully appreciate why people might want to go sit int he sun and cheap living... [looks out the window at grey skies and lashing winds of Bristol today].... sounds like a nice plan!

I'm also more than happy for people to come retire to the UK too.

"The Trump administration has issued tough guidelines to widen the net for deporting illegal immigrants from the US, and speed up their removal.

**It is unclear whether the US has authority to force Mexico to accept foreigners**but we don't want to know or worry about that small point, the main thing is "Get them Out"

should the UK also follow this way of thought

they will need to get help.... because most big cities and most blue states will not give people up for deportation unless it is a jailable offence.... a felony rather than a misdeminor...

obama got a wrap for not deporting people... he was actually known as the deporter in chief as he deported more people then the last 5 presidents did combined....

so for example... a parking violation is not a jailable offence...

imagine for example deporting someone from the uk who had lived he for say more than 10 years... only to be in trouble for no paying their tv licence....

you are going to have problems because families are going to be ripped apart where parents cant stay but kids who were born there can...."

If they are here illegally then they have no nat insurance number etc. So are paying no taxes, presumably working in the "black economy" ( no offence). That in itself is illegal..... so many people here missing the point completely!

It leads me to believe that you entertain your gloomy days watching Jeremy Kyle and Britain First videos whilst claiming benefits from tax payers, many of them professional and well educated foreigners.

That's what you think and you're allowed to think that. But the Spanish kingdom may think differently after brextit and study ways to make you leave the Spanish kingdom as you are now studying ways for foreigners to leave the UK.

If someone was an illegal immigrants I'd have hoped they weren't able to get a uk driving licence or tv licence at all. (I apologize for being pedantic as I realise what you were saying.) Personally I disagree with you and think all illegal immigrants should be deported.

You say "breaking the law is breaking the law" so thought I'd see what you views on an appropriate punishment would be for some of the illegal things that we might encounter in this lifestyle. Seeing as producing porn with squirting in is illegal, as technically owning things like the James Bond DVD in which he get whacked in the nuts with a knotted rope, what punishment do you think appropriate?

Interesting response. Assuming I give your spelling/grammar/typo the benefit of the doubt it sounds like you are calling me a criminal. Although, with such a non-sequitur, I'm not entirely sure. Care to elaborate? Or is this the equivalent of the playground retort of 'so's your face!'?

I take it you support law breakers & criminals

So is someone who gets a parking ticket a criminal?

If so... I may be a butcher in your eyes .. I know, worst of the worst

Heaven forbid if I forgot to pay my tv license.... or didn't pick up my pets poo.... deport them all!!!!!!

Breaking the Law, is breaking the Law full stop. You pay the penalty depending upon the crime committed.

small crime small penalty

illegal immigrant - deportation

fairly simple to follow

You do live in a simple world, alas reality is more complex. I'd love to hear what punishment you think appropriate for someone who sells porn with a squirter in it.

-Matt

what concerns me is "what goes on in that small mind of yours" to think up such things

Typical its always Matt with a voice of reason.

Honestly, I was watching Trevor Noah who did this quite humourous skit on immigration. He mentioned, if anyone should be pissed off in the United States about immigrants it should be Native Americans.

Made me think about this, if we apply the same logic to the United Kingdom, if anyone who should be really pissed off about immigration should be the ancient britons ( brittonics, picts and goidelic) Which am I am sorry but none of us are, the anglo saxon and celts which we now consider native british have only been here since 1500 years ago, then 1000 years ago we got the normans.

We could class those people as illegal immigrants, so in retropect, the ultimate logic is that we all immigrants.

Really the ultimate illegal immigrant were the British, took a ship landed somewhere and claimed it, 2/3rd of the globe was under its rule. Really and trully it could be claimed that migration to the UK was bound to happen because, people in the old empire wanted to what britain was like, they were told about it, why not settle there?

Cannot call it "Great" Britain AND not expect people to come, if it was labelled "Meh" Britain I think there would be less people coming here.

Victim of our own PR. Dammit!
