Sweden’s ‘Feminist Foreign Policy’

Not only does the Swedish government tell us it is the world’s first feminist government, on its website it also says it has a ‘Feminist foreign policy’!? So I wondered what this feminist foreign policy looked like in practice?
Ignoring an appeal from a female Iranian human rights activist on the hijab, ignoring the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran openly discriminates in over forty different ways against women (including barring them from studying science and technology subjects), ignoring the fact that Iran has the death penalty and practices torture (including rape), last week a predominantly female delegation from Sweden dressed up as slaves, put on their best, exceptionally grim faces and flew to Tehran to do business with the fascist state, business which apparently included improved relations in… science and technology!

It's an ideology, not a state of being. Our governments switch from one ideology to another. The only way it works if you stay in power long enough. Look at dictatorships. |

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has banned chess players brother and sister from any upcoming tournament due to the former's playing with an Israeli representative and the latter's not wearing hijab.
Dorsa Derakhshani, an 18-year-old member of the Iranian Women's National Chess Team and the sixth world champion in under-18 games, was expelled from the national team for not covering her hair in the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival, which was held in late January and early February 2017, Iranian media quoted Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh, head of Iran's Chess Federation, as saying.
Her 15-year-old brother, Borna Darakhshani was also expelled from the national team because of playing with an Israeli counterpart.
"The first step in dealing with them would be to deprive them from playing in Iran, and they won't have a chance to be in the national team,” Pahlevanzadeh said.
He also said the issue is a matter of “national interest” and the Chess Federation will deal with the siblings in the “severest way possible.”"

Oh. And beeteedubs, Montreal is on EST which leaves it five hours behind GMT, (and four on occasion, DST is weird) not six. |
