"lots of brits are pretty embarrassing when abroad"
True, but it misrepresents our culture. Skews the continental view of us. I admit I was too a d*unk, but haven't been d*unk in 4 years after moving here. |

Seen plenty of Germans pissed up in beer kellers in various European cities. They have beer festivals in Germany and Belgium. |

When we've travelled abroad, we've always found that people from the UK are abusive when d*unk, but people from continental Europe are really friendly.
The last time we were in Paris, we met a Polish guy in a bar, who was living in Germany but working in France, and wanted to learn English.
We spent two hours having a great conversation, in various languages, while he kept buying us drinks and refusing to let us buy him one.
It's just us Brits who are twats! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Well it's perception. The Dutch can drink a lot. They just drink from the night until 5am. So on the first train in the morning resembles some British city centres at 6pm. I blame the last orders. |

Personally I think a lot of the western european nations have a heavy drinking culture - but it tends to be the 'laddish/bloke' or younger demographics who take it over the line from d*unk merriment to abuse and endanger themselves and potentially others. Though apparently people between 21 and 30 are increasingly more likely to be tea total now... :P
There is probably a stereotype as well, just because Brits are so numerous - there are a lot of us, and the pre-arranged clubbing holiday industry is well established here. |

Bollocks I swear none of you ever get out, tonight I've chatted to a polish guy and a Slovakian couple both very friendly along with all the British people.
Bit of ribbing going on, I told him he sounds south African because he's been here to long and he told me I sound like I'm from Staffordshire!... Turns out he's from southern Poland which combined with 20 years in Herefordshire leads to a very weird accent.
Anyhow what we all agreed on is Muslims are cunts .
But quietly where nobody heard us!....I mean it's not like we're racists ![](/icons/s/twisted.gif) |
