Prime Minister May

Another highlight today of a poor judgement call made by the Prime Minister.

She appears to make illadvised comments and demonstrates poor judgement whilst making speeches that are devoid of tangible content.

Brexit aside... Is this the best we can do for the job of Prime Minister? She does not really instil confidence does she?

It is not just that though is it? Her performance on Andrew Marr was cringeworthy. She could (and should) have taken a firm line and instil confidence instead of weaving and drifting and being evasive. It is not the first time.

On Marr's programme she came across as wishy washy, should have just said of course I knew and such matters are not for the public domain..

Put a percentage next to it . Then we'll see a more insightful pattern.

Happy to agree with that. However I do wish BBC interviewers would allow the interviewee the courtesy of answering the questions. They ask a question, and before the first sentence is out, they are butting in.

TM should have said that she did know. She'll know better next time.

Churchill was unpopular in 1945 and he'd just steered the country to victory in a world war!

Fortunately being the PM isn't about winning popularity contests.

Politics is like football people are only happy when it's going thier way but one as soon as they don't they start complaining.

Do you really think any of the other parties or politicians would do any better ?

That is a very good question! We observed that the US had a choice of two bad candidates for President and yet we are hardly swimming in politicians that carry a Prime Ministerial aire about them.

In my lifetime there have only been two Prime Ministers who really presented themselves with authority and decisiveness. Thatcher and Blair.

Unfortunately, May is pretty much second rate.

She also does not believe in debate or discussion, and is noticeably poor at debating.

She has form from this from her time as Home Secretary.

She can't "!think on her feet", either.

Blair, for all his faults, was good at dodging and weaving, and giving good answers.

May is visibly panicked when she gets a difficult question.

Nite that she hardy ever allows questions after her speeches ( which are rare anyway; she avoids debate as much as possible in parliament too.

She also micromanages her ministers , instead of laying down clear overall parameters for them to follow.

She also can't handle several things at once.

Hence you get either ministers who can't say anything because they haven't been given an exact script, or lise cannons like Boris who has avoided getting a script, but doesn't know the actual " line to take ".

I feel she will crash and burn in about 18 months, when the complexity of BREXIT, on top of the complexity of the day to day business of the normal running if the country overwhelms her.

This is a little harsh on TM, she has inherited a tea cup full of shit and is being expected to turn it into wine.

As for who else I would rather have party wise:

Jeremy corbyn : The bloke would turn this country into the socialist party within two years and we would be back to the 1970's with the unions running the place.

Tim Farron: or tim nice but dim. Wouldn't trust him to run a coffee shop. I admire his kind of independent thinking but has no respect for what the people want and lets be fair Libdems are never going to be electable.

ukip: There is not enough time to say how much as a party they disgust me.

Greens ect... : never going to happen one point agendas not enough reality on the world

Not a fan of TM but cannot see another viable option. I just hope she turns into Thatcher when it comes to negotiation rather than Cameron.

Sadly at the moment YES look at the alternatives. It's like all these people shouting for a general election let's be honest choose between the Tories and what? She'd walk straight back into No. 10.

Teresa May is so far in front of Corbyn even allowing for a large margin of error she'd still easily beat Corbyn.

I'd also rate her above Jeremy Corbyn, Tim Farrell, Nigel Farage or Paul Nuttall. In fact the only politicians of note who come anywhere near Teresa May, and it sticks in my gut to say it, are Chuka Umunna, Hillary Ben & (God forgive me) Nicola Sturgeon.

That's probably the only reason why the Conservatives are still way ahead in the poles. We need a decent leader of the opposition now, more than ever, but all we've got is useless Jeremy who's always been a BREXITer at heart anyway.

Theresa May just wiped the floor with Jeremy Corbyn at PMQT.

Wrong footed him over Brexit, then used a quote from Labour mayor Sadiq Khan to finish him off whilst he was still floundering.

Again, you may be correct.

But it seems obvious to me that JC is playing a very clever game. He is sitting quietly by, every so often asking barbed questions that illicit viperous replies but cause added turmoil in the government, eventually forcing government U turns (the latest today being that Ms May will publish a white paper giving details of the governments negotiating position). I will admit that at times he looks out of his depth, but his position has not changed a single degree in his time in charge of Labour, however the Tories cant say that and I think come the next election he will just start reeling off the U turns he has forced on the government and suddenly the penny will drop...

Only a fool interrupts an enemy when they are making fatal mistakes!

Now I could be wrong, JC may not have learnt his Sun Tzu and he may just be a bumbling idiot who is getting by on pure luck. But I doubt that.

The white paper is not a victory for Corbyn. Teresa May has done it in part because of the Supreme court ruling yesterday and her own Tory Remain MP rebels putting pressure on her to produce a white paper.

Really?

I seem to remember him saying that he was not a total fan of the EU but on balance he thought staying in was the better of the options, around 70% in favour of the EU I recall.

And since the out vote his position has been tell me what type of the many types of out is being envisaged and I'll tell you if I support it.

Now maybe that is too difficult for you to understand but I have no problem rubbing my 2 brain cells together to get a spark of understanding as to what his position is.

The important thing is not whether it's a U-turn or not but whether we get what we want, which is democratic and parliamentary control of BRRXIT and the process by which it is achieved. It's no good Corbyn playing some sort of deeply strategic came in the hope he might win an election in 2020 (I don't believe he is or will). Labour needs to make clear its position on BREXIT and start being a truly effective opposition now, not in 4 years time when all the important decisions that will effect everyone's lives for the next 30 to 50 years or more will have already been made.

I can't see the British people voting on mass to make someone the next PM who seems so ineffectual in the far easier role of Leader of the Official Opposition.
