The Ministry of Defence says it has "absolute confidence" in the UK's nuclear weapons system despite reports of a malfunction during a test

The Sunday Times says an unarmed Trident missile fired from submarine HMS Vengeance near the Florida coast veered off course towards the US
.
The Trident II D5 missile, was intended to be fired 5,600 miles (9,012 km) to a sea target off the west coast of Africa
sadly, it veered off course (the wrong way)
.
four replacement submarines at a current estimated cost of £31bn may be well needed sooner rather than later.

do we all agree we need nuclear defence?

they did say a full investigation was carried out, then full maintenance inspection and now back in service
still
it wont belong until our £36 billion new subs are built and in service |

Im with the doors on this.
scrap the whole nuclear defense thing.
we dont need it and even if we did no one (ofcsane moral mind anyway) would push the button to retaliate and doom many millions of innocents just to get revenge on the crazy person in charge that pressed button against us.
put the money to better use in other services like health or education. |

Nobody who's sane will ever launch a nuclear attack..... And the insane ones don't give a shit if we can launch one back.

Assured mutual destruction only works to prevent wars if it's "mutual" , that's why we got close in Cuba because having them very close allows tactical advantage, now ask yourself what Russia is panicking about?.
The UN has agreed a policy of non proliferation that means not going in any other country's that there already in, not who owns them?.

Assured destruction may have kept the peace for 80 years but they sure as hell have been trying to find away around that for most of that too |
