I thought of this for a while, would a country prosper more if it would be govern by a business man instead of a politician? I reckon yes as a business man have a different mind set than a politician. |

No.....because he would have major conflicts of interest, as will be noticed in the States when Trump makes changes to their economy which favours business. |

The trouble is with being totally motivated by profit is that some things wouldn't get done because there is no financial return and therefore no economic sense and no incentive for a business minded government to do anything. Take old people - why have social services and stuff to help them? It costs more than they paid in through taxes so fuck 'em.
Not a very nice scenario.....
I'm a firm believer in a compassionate society and form of government and if it helps people but makes no economic sense then so be it. |

Saying there will be a conflict of interest holds true to politicians everywhere. Lobbyists get new legislation to benefit the companies they represent. A successful businessman always recognises the importance of people and will act in their interest as they dont need the money. Also do away with a lot of beurocracy. |

They will be in it for profit, which is already happening all over the world. The biggest corporations hold the power and treat it's workers despicably. It makes ones heart sad to see them getting away with slavery and abuse, whilst earning billions. |

"Haha it is already the case !
Finance rules countries. That is right too, maibe the difference is how they spend it and improve things."
Depends on the business man or woman . If you run like Google it's less hierarchical. As long as you make money you can do whatever you like. Or maybe more a fat cat business with less ethics. |

Trump is a business man. He started life as a millionaire and became a billionaire by use of corporate bankruptcy to enrich himself. Of course in the process he stripped 10's if not 100's of thousands of people of their livelyhoods and savings, but it did put him in a position where he could buy the most powerful job in the world.
I would asy he has not got off to a great start (for the majority of people on the planet. We have a man called 'mad dog' about take control of the most powerful military machine in the world. Climate change denier Scott Pruitt as Environmental Protection Agency Administrator. In the roll of Small Business Administration Administrator he has appointed WWE CEO Linda McMahon. As Commerce Secretary he has merchant banker Wilbur Ross. As Treasury Secretary he has picked the hedge fund manager Steven Mnuchin. As Health and Human Services Secretary he has picked Tom Price, MD the pro life, anti abortion, anti gay, anti affordable health care campaigner.
The list goes on, but to my mind a picture is emerging of an administration that is being built with one object in mind... To do on a global scale what Trump has been doing all his life, prociding over firesales for his personal enrichment.
The next 4 years will be interesting. I just wonder is it the USA he intends to asset strip and bankrupt or is it Europe and SE Asia?
My money is on Europe and SE Asia. |

The point of the state is to provide the services that the market does not provide appropriately. National security, a fair judiciary, universal education, health-care, some level of social safety net.
Not a business persons skill set. Selflesness
Trump hasn't thought about being President at all so he's just picking lots of people just like him. No lobbyists needed. The government already knows everything and doesn't need any other opinions |

It should be run like a not for profit social enterprise
But the whole setup is flawed.... They can't even do their jobs as they are continuously embroiled in tip for that competition for popular opinion and their vision is never more than 4 years |

The East India company ran big chunks of India for a while. One of the richest countries in the worst the time.
Taxes up, cash crops instead of good, no grain stores allowed and speculation on the food left.
Drought then famine. 2-10 million dead.
Yay! |

If you to make as much profit as possible then yes.
.
.
However if you want a country left to live in after you've finished work I'd suggest you keep them as far away as possible from government |
