Is this the same Austria that a few on here were saying its nailed on that the right winger would get elected and (i hope one of our fellow posters never took a bet on it)haha for them to leave the EU...oh my looks like there hopes are dashed....now they maybe will have to wait and pin there hopes on Italy  |

Just saw an article about the right wing movement. The stats are not as high as we think they are. But next elections will tell us.

I'm actually shocked, I thought that austria would go right.
Glad they didn't go right though. Nice to see an independent ex-green politician making gains. Even if it is just mainly a ceremonial role. |

Well, it seems they probably did. Except in Austria, they listened to what he had to say and rightly decided the correct response to his racism was to stick two fingers in his racist direction.
It's just a shame he doesn't receive that reaction more often here. |

Well Anders Mahdalik knows who Farage is, and Mahdalik is an FPO member of Vienna City Council. And he was commenting on the reaction to Farage's comments about Hofer to the Austrian press on Friday. And Mahdalik is claiming it had a negative effect on the FPO campaign result.
Farage may be one of the most ignorant and racist human beings on the planet, but like it or not, people still hear his opinions, unfortunately. |

Exit polls for the Italian referendum don't look good for Renzi and the EU. Looks like Renzi has lost and he has lost by quite a big margin if the exit polls are correct. |

I know what you're saying but this vote was about constitutional change, not about the EU. Most pro EU Italians voted against Renzi because they didn't want the change to the constitution that he put forward. For this reason this vote cannot be used as a barometer as to wether the Italians would vote to leave the EU. Like Renzi the next leader will be non elected.

fascist? When conceding defeat and saying that he accepts the result, will work for the good of the country and that the voter is always right, he came across as a far better person and ddcent more honourable politician than many of the Liberal/Left fascists in this country |

We all need to hope that these results make those at the top in the EU realise they have gone against the wishes of the majority of the people of europe and say we need to change back to a trading block and less political entity. If they dont then more extreme views may rise and that is in no ones interest |

I think it's a stark contrast from his reaction to defeat which he accepted gracefully compared to the many Remain MP's here in the UK who refuse to accept the result of the EU referendum and continually throw their toys out of their prams because they can't get their own way. |

You do know that he said that the EU needs more unity. He also blamed Herr Farage for disruptive interference by saying that he was planning an EU referendum, which he wasn't. |

It is all eu's fault, it doesnt have to be a crisis, a great leader changes the law with the times, but merkel dont realise this, sweden will be next as sd will win.
EU will be judged hard on history..... it could of been a paradise. |
