In N.Ireland sovereignty rests with the people
.1 Status of Northern Ireland.
It is hereby declared that Northern Ireland in its entirety remains part of the United Kingdom and shall not cease to be so without the consent of a majority of the people of Northern Ireland.
Now Supreme Court could rule that United Kingdom cannot leave the European Union without the consent of the people of Northern Ireland.
As for Scotland the Lord Advocate has written a Legislative Consent Motion by the Scottish Parliament is required before Parliament passes any Act which claims to make an Article 50 decision.
It could get very messy! |

Don't get your hopes up if you are a remainer the referendum was UK wide all 4 countries voted knowing a majority either way would stand and the government would act on the result.
Every household got a leaflet telling us what we were voting for so no one has any excuses for not knowing. |

Yeah true it is messy the now but i think it will get worse
Plus when you add in David Davis comments about paying to stay in the single market is very strange as what would be the point in brexit we already have single market access. The UK government i.e Tories dont have a clue on what they are doing.
Am shocked people still the Tories should be the government not met a single target since 2010 borrowed more and more adding to the Trillions in debt and people wonder why Scotland wants to leave the UK. |

It already is a mess made so by a bitter, self-obsessed, fucktard remoaner of Guyanese descent and three half-wits in the High Court.
No one contests the results of a general election or bi-election and the same principle should apply to a referendum otherwise we do not have democracy. |

Why are you shocked? All you have to do is look at this countries history. It is full of forelock tugging fools who will sell their mothers and children if they think it will help them get one up on their neighbours.
Remember 'greed is good'! Of course that's only true for the super rich and their enablers but don't worry your pretty heads about that just remember when you cast your vote your going to get £350 million a week to spend on what you want rather than have Brussels tell you what to spend it on...
Well actually that is not quite true and by the way there will be no cuts to subsidies given to super rich land owners...
But that is all to complicated for you prols to understand...
Just remember brexit means BREXIT!

It could get very messy!" The situation is actually very straight forward . Every eligible voter had the opportunity to pass a vote and the result was to leave .
It could hardly be simplier unless you are saying that votes were miscounted . |

It was not a leave vote in Scotland or N.Ireland though and this is suppose to an equal partnership in the UK.
So the devolved parliament's should be able to get a voice in this seen as they voted to remain. |

Like everyone else we all have to abide by the majority vote, 1.2 million Scots voted to leave they may well have tipped the balance so not ALL Scotland voted to remain. |

Oi, pull your knickers out of your arse crack and stop strangling your bollocks. If you actually read around it rather than acting in anger you'll find that one of the high court judges was in favour of Brexit. The fact that he is intervening on this surely must lend an argument that British law is acting on behalf of a significant section of the populace. |

If those countries decide to leave the UK, fine. It won't get them into the EU though. |

Oh, I see, my 'learned friend' aka Fab's finest keyboard warrior...and that would be why the government of the day is appealing the decision and is currently hamstrung in the Article 50 process!?
And are you aware that one out of three does not constitute a majority (another useless product of the Blair/New Labour education system)! |

Nice classy argument there mate!
Showing true intelligence and an understanding of the situation.
Get a grip man! And then explain why, as presmpumably someone who voted to leave so as to "restore" sovereignty to this country, why aren't you campaigning for parliament to vote on this? Surely you understand, as such a advocate of democracy, how it works in britain don't you? You know, the sovereignty lies with parliament not the people? So, you'd be getting what you voted for, british sovereignty. |

David Davis said paying a fee to access the single market is an option. Doesn't mean it's going to happen. It's just one option among many options that the government has to look at for the negotiations. Another option is that we don't pay a single penny to the EU. |

Does Scotland want to leave the UK? I seem to recall the SNP lost a referendum not so long ago on that very issue. Polls also say now if Nicola Sturgeon called another referendum she would lose again. |

Brexit will still happen either by Royal Perogative or by vote in Parliament the end result will still be the same. We are leaving the EU, Remainers like Gina Miller just need to move on and accept the EU referendum result. |

The case is not finished yet. There is an appeal to be heard at the Supreme court this week, so the high Court decision could be thrown out and overruled. |

I accept the referendum result. I wish it wasn't what it was, but there you go.
What I don't accept is the result being used to justify the trampling of our parliamentary democracy. I don't accept the result being used to fuel hatred towards EU citizens in this country. I don't accept the result being used as an excuse for the growing hatred towards non-EU citizens in this country. I don't accept the blinkered view of some leave supporters who with every new piece of information coming out about the cost of this process and what it is going to cost us for years to come just responding with 'leave won, get over it'.

The Conservatives have a majority in Parliament and will be whipped into voting for article 50 if it comes to a vote in Parliament. They will also get support in the vote from parties like the DUP in Northern Ireland who support Brexit and it's a fair bet Douglas Carswell ukip MP will vote for article 50, lol.
The Labour party have said they will not block Brexit in a vote in Parliament (mainly because many of the constituencies they control voted for leave, so they don't want to alienate those voters by blocking Brexit). The only parties who openly want to block Brexit by vote in Parliament are the Lib dems (with 9 MP's) and the SNP. |

Forgive me if I am wrong here, but I never claimed a majority of the judges were pro-brexit, just that simply one was. When judges work as a team very rarely do they utilise 'mob rule' democracy to make decisions. Instead everyone contributes and compromises are make, if they can't be, the team breaks apart. Therefore, whilst I accept there might be hidden intentions amongst at least one of the judges to keep us in, the other is likely to want to drag us out...
I choose to accept the narrative put on the table that they are looking to ensure brexit is thorough, calm and inclusive, not an act of mob rule which puts people and their businesses at risk - not to mention consumer value.
I trust that the courts and parliament will not use this as a chance to ignore the will of the people, because I trust our parliament and law institutions. Maybe I am a bit naive? But it's also in their interest, if that is how it works out then the already grave trust issue between the people and politicians will deepen, and I would not like to see where that leads. |

The fact that he is intervening on this surely must lend an argument that British law is acting on behalf of a significant section of the populace.
But it's also in their interest, if that is how it works out then the already grave trust issue between the people and politicians will deepen, and I would not like to see where that leads."
Judges do not work as a team. They give their own interpretations of the law. And they try their very best not to be influenced by their political persuasions. They try to base their decisions on the law. |

If they don't I'll be shocked
You are forgetting one thing the Scottish parliament could have a veto on brexit and in Holyrood their is a pro EU / indy majority |

The vote on article 50 will be in Westminster in the House of Commons (if the government lose its appeal to use Royal Perogative at the Supreme court). Holyrood won't be able to block Brexit/article 50 if it gets approval in the House of Commons in westminster. Same with the House of Lords if the House of Lords oppose it, they can be over ruled by the House of Commons. |

It already is a mess made so by a bitter, self-obsessed, fucktard remoaner of Guyanese descent and three half-wits in the High Court.
No one contests the results of a general election or bi-election and the same principle should apply to a referendum otherwise we do not have democracy.
A valiant attempt, but I fear that we are well past the stage that facts or reason are going to sway some people. They are so enraged with their own racism and homophobia that they believe whatever twaddle The Sun has told them to believe.

However Brexit will impact on devolved matters, therefore the Sewel convention applies and the devolved parliament will have to consent, before Westminster can legislate on the issue.

Because the bill that was passed into law to enable the referendum said it was not legally binding, but was a consultation.
It does not matter how many people (no mater their qualifications) refuse to accept this it is what the law says and that is that. |

The government were very clear though, that they would carry out the result of the Referendum and enact the will of the people. You'd have to be naive in the extreme to think the government would only see it as a consultation and never act on it. |

I don't need to, but i will explain the law to you as you clearly have no understanding of it.
In the UK we have a thing called the Sovereignty of Parliament, this means that in all things Parliament has the ultimate say unless Parliament cedes that power to another place (and if parliament does cede power to another place it can take it back at any time).
The 2016 EU Referendum Act did not cede power to the British people, therefore the referendum was nothing more than an extremely expensive and divisive consultation.
Of course there will be lawyers who will claim that it is legally binding, of course the fact that they get paid for arguing the legality or otherwise of things regardless of the law providing they can find someone willing to fight the case will have nothing to do with their opinion. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

Parliament voted by a majority of 6 to 1 for the referendum, and it is the government who governs the country. |

What part of Parliament needs to cede power to another place for power to be ceded to another place is beyond your comprehension?
Parliament DID NOT cede power to the British people therefore power was not ceded!
There is no requirement on Parliament to say they are not ceding power to others.
It really is quite simple regardless of your (or my) or the governments approval.
Tomorrow you will hear the Supreme Court say the same. |

Now apart from the fact the hearing is due to last 4 days and the verdict won't be delivered until the new year, the governments case is that Parliament did cede authority to the people. How can you assume to know better? |

Even with article 50 triggered it will likely take years to untangle our membership, before that time the EU will in all probability have reformed with regards to movement and work visas, the Two year rule has never been tested before and as such we and the rest of the EU is sailing in uncharted waters. |

Before the Referendum, I said that the truth was it had no constitutional standing because Parliament was sovereign, I seem to remember you were one of many who said I did not know what I was talking about. Before the referendum I said that leaving the EU would not save us any money, all it would do would be give up our place at the bargaining/begging table, you said I did not know what I was talking about there too. Seems I was correct on both of those counts, want to put some money behind your assertion that I am wrong again...
By the way just because the government have found some verbose lawyers who will spend 4 days bending a courts ears and the court have said it will not announce its decision until the New Year does not mean the result is not a foregone conclusion. |

Are you really hoping that Europe collapses into total chaos? How do you think that you will personally benefit from this? Would it make you happy seeing foreigners begging and/or fighting with each other???
It seems to be common amongst Brexiters that they have furious wanking sessions dreaming of a total collapse of a number of European economies. I just struggle to understand what people could find so exciting about economic chaos on our doorstop even if by some incredible fluke it were not to affect us - which it most certainly would.
Is it some kind of masochistic trait to wish purgatory and poverty on your neighbour whilst yourself wallowing in opulence and drinking champagne? |

Right, it's all the EU's fault.
Nothing to do with the tories transferring the nations wealth from the majority to their super rich mates.
Nothing to do with US owned multi national corporations not paying taxes on their profits since the tories deregulated the markets.
Nothing to do with criminally corrupt US banks defrauding the world banking system.
Nothing to do with criminally corrupt British banks deliberately and fraudulently bankrupting businesses in order to increase bonus payments to corrupt traders and executives who were criminally manipulating markets and selling useless insurances for personal gain.
Nothing to do with an ideology driven policy of stripping publicly owned social housing from the market and transferring it to the private market while restricting the building of new houses.
Convenient how none of the above had anything to do with our present troubles.
As you say it's all the EU's fault. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

The banks etc that I am talking about operate out of London because London is the unregulated market the tories set up to allow corrupt bankers and traders to sell their worthless shite into the EU!
As I said those London banks you are talking about supported the Remain campaign and wanted Britain to stay in the EU. They were on the same side as you if you supported Remain. "
Aren't they the banks that Farage used to work in? |
