She doesn't own Buck house it's held in trust by Crown estates.
So maybe Crown estates should pay for the re furb.Although I do believe it is publicly funded, so yes we will be picking up the tab
On a personal note I do not believe the public should pay for the re furb just like I do not think the public should pay for royal weddings.

the public shouldnt be paying for anything royal , if they want a wedding then let them do what the rest of us do , pay for it themselves
" if they have an urge to stay in rented accom then there are a few places in glasgow i wouldnt mind putting them in but i am not sure they would be too keen |

So using that analogy should not the Royal family get to keep the countless millions that that are generated by the very bieng of the Royal estates?
Tourists don't go to London just to shop
Ther come to see the pomp and ceremony |

"If we pay for it , the palace should be fully open to the public !!!
It would bring in millions !
I think the Queen spends more time at Windsor anyway "
If you lived in a tied house would you allow others in to look round ? |

"It already belongs to her...
And the cost to the nation of the Monarchy (privy purse) is little compared to what the nation gets in return."
It belongs to the crown estates but I agree the income she brings in is huge compared to the cost |

I take it you know the history of the Crown Estates. Maybe you would like to explain to others how the Crown Estates came into being and what would happen to the Crown Estates should parliament decide to revoke the Crown settlement that is the Privy Purse and how much that would cost the the Exchequer. |

IIRC The crown estate "profit" goes to the government the queen gets a % tofund her role and her maj pays the equivalent amount of tax on her income after paying for all the mionr royals .
Three hundred years ago the monarch paid all the costs of running the country from the income of thecrown estate tax was raised to pay for wars, then parliament started spending lots for "our" benefit and taxed us forthe privilage ,can we go back to the old ways please |

You do realise if we go back to the old system the Crown Estates revert to the Monarchy...
2015/16 the Crown Estate raised £304.1 million for the exchequer, in return the exchequer paid the Crown £40.1 million in the privy purse settlement.
That would mean returning to the old system would cost the country £264 million a year at last years rates. Do those who begrudge the Monarchy its settlement still think we get a bad deal? |

It didn't go to the Falklands because it was not big enough or stable enough to be able to cope with the South Atlantic in mid winter. |
