UKIP Councillor

Cambridge

I was talking to a county councillor last night, and she was telling me about how a small group of looked after children gave a presentation to the children and young persons social care committee that she sits on. They had come from some really difficult backgrounds, and it can be really hard for adults to speak in public, let alone kids (they were the ripe old age of 14). At the end of their presentation they asked if anyone had any questions. A UKIP Councillor put his hand up and asked "When are you going to start giving back to society, because all you have done so far is take, take, take."

UKIP has wankers in the party capable of asking crass questions as do Labour Conservative Lib Democrats Greens and others. That means even even mentioning UKIP doesn't add anything to the story

Having seen that documentary about UKIP, and having listened to their representatives, I have no faith in their intelligence or emotional stability.

Having said that, I was on the bus today and it was full of students. Not one of them offered their seat to an elderly lady.

Does that mean all students are selfish shits?

Agreed, though I'd say the proportion of those who would make such remarks is markedly higher. Just an observation.

As I've seen through my undergrad, masters and PhD years, some sadly are selfish and greedy shits. Literally heard young people on the bus say that an early start justifies holding onto any seat on a bus no matter what.

I think it speaks to the values of the party if that is something that their elected members would say to vulnerable children.

"So when are they paying back?"

As a Green party supporter you are not allowed to say that.

yes. They forced the government into a referendum and paved the way for a brighter future for the UK and the whole of Europe. Well, maybe not the whole, the Germans might suffer a bit but who gives a fuck about that

the voters did that. Lots of people upset about the result, but hey, that's democracy for you.

Same here, I'm not a fan as such but they got the result the people were looking for and for that they should be applauded and politicians who try to go against the will of the people really don't understand the danger they are creating.

It won't change what result? The amount spent on children's social care in the county?

I was just surprised by the story, if you're not surprised, then you must have had a lower opinion of UKIP than I did. I was surprised that they would publicly humiliate vulnerable children, if you are not surprised and think that is not an unusual thing for an elected member of the party to do, then it says a lot about the party, doesn't it?

Did the county councillor not challenge the UKIP councillor? Or anybody else for that matter? If not, then shame on them.

No, it says something about the person making the comments. In much the same way as hanging oneself from a wardrobe door with an orange in your mouth or accepting cash and favours from rich persons doesn't reflect the views and mandates of other parties.
