USA manipulates public opinion

Of course it is a given, the USA and all countries to some extent manipulate media for their ends. It is called propaganda, we have overt propaganda departments in every branch of government both national and local and in every government agency, no doubt we also have covert propaganda departments too. |

Would that actually be necessary?...I mean aren't some Muslims doing a great job of that already for free? |

Bit like when the leaders of the green party open their mouths and embarrass themselves on the subject of economics. Detracts from the good things they do on the environment. That's an analogy by the way. |

The media have been doing this for years by simply not reporting the whole story of the wears involvement in the Middle East; from installing the Shar in a democratic and secular Iran because it wanted the oil rights to allowing Saudi Arabia to spread its brand of oppressive Islam across the region.
As for Afganistan now that is a very complicated story |

The US government (Pentagon) is reported as paying more than $500 million to a UK company, Bell Pottinger, to make fake Al Qaeda videos purporting to be news footage in order to distort public opinion and win a psychological war.
We, the public are constantly manipulated by news broadcasts purporting to be truth and it pays to always check sources of any information we are fed.
Moral- nothing is fair in war. |

So basically the US went to war in Iraq and paid a PR company to create media that help justify the war. The media company probably made up shit during the process.

I have looked it up and the story seems to be that they creates videos that would be passed through terrorist networks so that those networks could be mapped and tracked. |

propaganda is legal on citizens, just about everything the news says is twisted or just made up.
fact they spent half billion at time they have few trillion to account for makes it all the more funny. must of been some film set |

It was 5 contracts over a period of several years. The DOD has an annual budget of ~$650bn so it can fund this kind of thing without too much trouble |
