We have a free school locally. It now has over 1 hundred pupils. All the funding is paid for by schools wanting to get rid of under performing pupils. The fee's are above that of a normal school so impacts on school budgets. This company appears to filter the money through other companies so the school makes no profits on paper.

Opinions please.

the free school is called real education info from companies house.

Free schools are paid for directly from the Department for Education, not from other schools wanting to get rid of pupils.

What's an "underperforming pupil" in layman's terms?

A pupil that does,nt learn as fast as the rest of the class or in some cases a disruptive child. But there could be lots of other examples too.

It makes a big difference why they are that way. Some pupils are just bored shitless by the rigid school environment whilst others have a chaotic home life. If you look at the schools with the worst GCSE results, the key problem there is that the kids often don't speak English fluently!

This school takes in ONLY those with issues.MY issue is how they filter monies off into other companies owned by the directors under the services umbrella . They also seem to have a charity arm that only deals with themselves .

If you have a concern about the financial set up of the school then perhaps the Department for Education would be the best place to raise these concerns? They can then investigate and make a decision if any impropriety has occurred. 3 managers of a free school were recently sent to prison for fraud, so it does happen. But I think the DfE are much better placed than we are to make such a discovery.

the website is quite informative,i particularly like the parents view" In our case, my son was out of school and in a care home, because of complex behavioral difficulties and stress and anxiety relating to his experience of education".... Made me chuckle
