BoJo has foreign secretary.....
remember not quite as big as was because the brexit element is taken out....
basically he becomes chief diplomat... in a way he doesn't really shape foreign policy his underlings do, but as a flamboyant figurehead its going to be interesting.... |

"David Davis as Brexit."
she looks to be quite a smart cookie. easy one for Jezza to take on.... so on the one hand pleased that we look to be having a credible government put in place, on the other disappointed that we are not going to have an effective opposite them. come on JC a new face can re-invigorate a party, not just kill it! & don't blame your cabinet, you've had more in 10 months than most do in 10 years... |

Leadership is a spirit you imbue in your team, i have a feeling she has more character than we perhaps gave her credit for. But perhaps surprisingly she has grabbed the cabinet by the scruff of the neck and brought in some much needed changes. I feel that Labour has a higher mountain to climb now. |

I think it's easier to lead other ministers when you have a good track record as a minister, call me crazy |

"David Davis as Brexit.
He's currently suing the uk government for non compliance with EU law, at the European court!!
I found it amusing when I saw that.

Yes Minister/Prime Minister has nothing on modern politics.

Well I was actually talking about Corbyn but I actually think yes minister should be mandatory viewing in schools as the perfect way to educate people on what politics is really about |

No real surprise that she is getting rid of people that she would not want to work with, after all if we could all chose who we had to sit in the same room with for hours at a time and trust them to work the way you want to then you would do! |

Personally, I have put some people I would rather not spend any time with but they were the right people for the jobs.

Not so many ladies as expected?
I think PM May is playing a very shrewd game. All the 'Brexit' tasks are with 'Brexiters' she is now bomb proof if it goes pear shaped but will take the credit when it goes well as it will. BoJo, Davies, Fox and May are a pretty good bunch to have against the tossers in the EU who are already making very different noises than just a week ago.
And who did May call first? Mrs Merkel. Second? Mr Hollande. Not sure Obama has had a call yet but who cares as he interfered in our politics and got told to sod off. Its Hillary she needs to speak to.
And Mrs Merkel has set up a separate team of EU member state ministers much to the annoyance of the EU Commission who are now feeling the chill wind of reality and being 'found out'. |

The Germans will do what suits them no matter what the rest of the EU says or wants |

Indeed and why Messrs Fox and Davies will be making damn sure we play them off against the EU elite. The Germans know where their interests lie and it is in continued profit from UK trade ... and bingo we have a trad deal on mutually agreeable terms. |

Which is pretty much what I said long before the referendum result.
Schulz, Juncker and, albeit to a lesser extent, Tusk were all making noises about how difficult they would make it for Britain to leave.
As I said at the time, calmer more level headed people will put them in their place when reality kicks in.
The executives in Munich, Stuttgart, Ingolstadt, and Wolfsburg (among others) will tell Merkel which way to jump and she will kick the EU in the same direction.
Project fear is working very well but on the other side of the channel. |

At least bojo's appointment has shown the world the new PM has got a sense of humour..
Newspapers and politicians around the world have been reacting to Boris Johnson's appointment as UK foreign secretary.
Many were surprised, citing his history of faux pas including insulting the president of Turkey and commenting on the US president's ancestry.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said in a radio interview Mr Johnson was a liar with "his back against the wall".
One EU source told the BBC: "Everyone in the European Parliament thinks it's a bad joke and that the Brits have lost it."

This is true and would never count on anything, but what you can count on is the Germans and the French doing what is best for them no matter how much pressure the EU committee try to tell them they cannot do this or that.
Tell the French farmers that they cannot sell wine or cheese to the uk at a favourable price and see what happens.

The fact out of some 22 appointments (of which Remainers are in the vast majority - 7 Brexiters vs 16 Remain) you only selected Boris for comment.
That makes the point that for all his 'faux pas' he is known around the world. And as one Yank ex diplomat said on Channel 4 'who remembers Philip Hammond'? Boris knows and is on good terms with most leaders and movers and shakers around the world from two terms as London Mayor and the fact he delivered a magnificent Olympics. He is a great Team leader and given the EU facing task is now with Davies he and Fox can crack on and make us a truly global trading nation again.
Interesting the French were shouting 'You can't negotiate any Trade Deals until you leave the EU' ... They just don't get it at all. |
