Not that the sex of a candidate should matter but after some 24 years of men I think it will be a good change. I just happen to think Leadsome will be the fresher more in-tune Prime Minister.
As I posted before how about this come November:
HM Queen Elizabeth
President Clinton
Prime Minister May / Leadsom
Chancellor Merkel
4 very powerful and influential ladies. |

"But as I say, sterling has really not moved since the prime minister announced the starting gun for the referendum. So my best expectation, with my 30 years of financial experience, is that there will not be an economic impact"

After brown got the pm position a large percentage of the country (mainly tories) wanted a general election called as they didn't vote for brown to lead us. Well many didn't vote for either of these two so again a general should be called for. |

No need for that, there was a referendum to 'take back control' from 'unelected bureaucrats', in the UK if we don't want them we have the choice to vote them out...oh |

So apart from Sterling being lower against the Dollar (which has as many benefits as dis-benefits), the FTSE being at a 10 month high and climbing, Government Bonds being in huge demand and no one, apart from those who forget Project Fear is dead, saying they are leaving that quotation is wrong. But not as you infer .... |

We are barely a year from our last general election in which the Prime Minister said he would stand down before the next one. So the Tories are doing now what they, and the electorate, knew they would be doing only 2 years earlier. We elect MPs who elect a leader who is asked by Her Maj. to form a Government if they can command a majority. Nothing has changed.
We also now have Fixed Term Parliaments of 5 years and so 'just calling an election' as PMs used to be able to do to their benefit is no longer an option.
And yes if we do not like what the new PM does in the next 4 years we can kick her out. |

Leadsom lacks the experience.

Agreed that may has more experience and does not bumble around when questioned LoL.

The choices are down to two.
One has only been an MP for six years and has very little political experience and NONE on a big stage. The other has been around a while and conducted herself diligently and as best she can in some very high profile positions.
Neither may be ideal but I dont think that we have ever had an ideal or perfect Prime Minister. We wont this time either, but better that the PM is the best that is available. |

Yeah its the fact that 'her best' is what I called 'below average' and the fact that she does it in high profile positions makes it even worse.
Do people ever learn to check achievements rather than taking scripted speeches at face value! |

Not sure the expression 'tongue tied' applies to Leadsom in this detailed and very probing interview by the anti-Brexit BBC this week:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36736091
Or here. And note how she bats away the Labour tactic of interrupting:
https://youtu.be/mIO75EbPWE0
Either lady has what it takes but in different ways. But as Harold Macmillan observed it will be "Events, dear boy, events" that will decide if the winner becomes a great Prime Minister. |

The obvious problem is that the only female prime minister we've had was so awesome and loved by every inch of the country that people assume any woman would be just as good.
I guess we need to get through a few failures to show that it's what's between your ears that matters and not what's between your legs. |

"some fucking choice!!!! ..... it's like being asked if would you rather mr burke or mr hare as your undertaker"
Either woman will run rings round that clown Corbyn make no mistake.
....and when we look at Labour what do we find? A hypocrite who preached Brexit to get elected and then told everyone to Remain while being hated by every Labour MP shit scared they are seeing unemployment in a few years. And their alternative? Angela Eagle ..... A woman with a razor like tongue who can crack brilliant jokes but absolutely no clue about what is good for this country.
UKIP Mk II must be rubbing their hands at the prospect of hoovering up all those Labour seats in the North and Midlands. And by 2020 the SNP will have imploded Scotland into bankruptcy as the bills for their Socialist Nirvana come rolling in and the Jocks keep their wallets shut. |

did you care to check the prior background of Blair & Cameron before they became prime minister!!!
Have you considered how well each government has done in the last few decades including what some consider illegal wars;
So is all this Westminster governmental experience vital???? I think not
Leadsom will do well as PM, very well
Look at the UK right now with all its so called Westminster experience |

Are you 'man4you' re-incarnated? Its just you have this knack of getting all riled up over something that wasn't actually said like he does. Where did I say you were a Labour supporter? I didn't. I was comparing the situation in Labour to the one you offered about the Tories. In other words the choice is actually worse.
And what IS this obsession with chalk? Am I missing some new fetish or is it only an ex schoolteacher thing?

I think Andrea Leadsome will win the Tory leadership contest. The simple reason is the same reason Jeremy won the Labour contest so surprisingly. Her message is not complex, it does not require any kind of self-awareness or critical thinking and above all else it is comfortable to a vocal part of the her party which has been told to pipe down for their own good for years.
The public (at least in England) will be then be faced with such a stark choice of extremes that comparatively few people either want or need.
It's all such a fucking mess.

I'd rather not have May. She didn't want to leave the EU so her position is the same as Cameron's.
In that, to go forward convincingly, we need someone who believes in getting it done properly. Not someone whose heart isn't in it. |
