Ken Clark is the man.

Unless you are a fringe looney, Ken is one of the best politicians our country has ever seen and is respected on both sides of the house. He's a left wing Tory if you like.

He's dropped a bit of a clanger by be going off on one in sky news studio when he didn't realise he was being film, it's hilarious;

On Gove: "he was so wild, I think with Michael as prime minister we'd go to war with three countries at once"

"He did us all a favour with Boris, the idea of Boris as Prime minister is ridiculous"

On Theresa May: "so long as she understands that she's not going to be able to deliver on some of the extremely stupid things she's been saying"

"Theresa is a bloody difficult woman but you and I worked for Margaret Thatcher"

"She's too narrow, she's been in the home office too long... she doesn't know much about foreign affairs"

Finally some truth comes out the mouth of a politician!

If he was younger this would be. It's so refreshing to hear a politician talk like a normal human bring rather than a sat nav.

Cambridge

"She's not one of the mindless, tiny band of lunatics, who think we can have a sort of glorious economic future outside the single market." (talking about Leadsom)

Was my favourite quote.

And if alcohol is what is needed to get politicians to talk normally then I'll fund the house of commons bar.

If I have to listen to Michael fucking Gove talk anymore I'm emigrating. He sounds like the love child of a sat nav and the bride of chucky.

Because whilst most voters are cretins who vote for whoever mummy and daddy told them were the goodies, there are actually a bunch of voters in the middle who swing and those are the ones who decide elections. Ken appeals to those people.

Hmm you might find a load of teachers from the 80's disagreeing with you there! If memory serves, he was pretty hated when he was education minister! !

He's an old school conservative with a small c.

His demeanour of taking the bus, wearing crappy clothes, smoking cigars and liking a pint is appealing.... However on many points he talks alot of sense!!.

Unless your an anti tobacco campaigner.... In which case you'll hate him with a passion

I like Ken Clark, in the past he would have been described as having bottom. I don't believe his comments were a gaff, I am sure that both he and Malcolm Rifkind knew they were being recorded and were firing a warning shot across the bows of those seeking the PMs job and letting them know that the old guard have the ammunition and will to bring any of them down if they do not start putting the country first.
