War crimes prosecutors say Tony Blair will not be investigated over Chilcot's Iraq war report, but British soldiers could be. What do you think of the news? |

of course he wont be prosecuted. None of them ever are. As a side note over 80 were just killed by an isis isil cia daech taliban al quaeeda suicide bomber in baghdad. And the iraq forces only just regained control of fallujah after 2.5 years of occupation. Keep voting for these scum bags |

There was never any chance of Blair being charged with war crimes, he did not commit any.
He lied to get the parliament and the country to back him. That is not a crime, maybe it should be but as it is what all politicians do I cant see them making it illegal.
As for soldiers being investigated that was bound to happen because The Nurenburg War Crimes Tribunal established that all soldiers are responsible for their actions and 'following orders' is not an acceptable defence. |

Not a Blair fan but feel no PM should be done for war crimes.
Thatcher warned of Sadaam Hussain when she was PM when he used chemical weapons on the people of Iran. |

He repealed the treason laws then committed treason. He participated in the starting of a massive campaign of death and destruction, the results of which we feel to this day on an almost daily basis. He stood up and lied to Parliament to get their agreement, and he knew he was lying when he did it.
How this man is not in prison is beyond me. |

I stand by my original statement. He lied, he may have been repeating others lies, he may not have know he was lying at the time, but his claims were false and that is the definition of lying.
I did not say he deliberately lied as I do not know that and doubt I ever will. |

Would you like to explain how he committed treason?

Absolutely, in 1994 he visited Iriq and made a public speech where he addressed Saddam, in it he said:
"I can honestly tell you that there was not a single person to whom I told I was coming to Iraq and hoping to meet with yourself who did not wish me to convey their heartfelt, fraternal greetings and support"
He finished the speech with:
"Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigably"
In those 2 statements he committed High Treason.
In 2003 he said Blair:
"lied to the British Air Force and Navy, when they said the battle of Iraq would be very quick and easy. They attacked Iraq like wolves" and added that "the best thing British troops can do is to refuse to obey illegal orders."
Those orders were not illegal and therefore that statement was an 'incitement to disaffection and mutiny' which is also an act of treason.
Now I have justified my statement about Galloway can someone please do the same with the statement about Blair showing the act and the criminal offence that is committed? |

Blair lied to the British people. That is not a crime its what politicians do and Blair was the best at telling lies with a smiling face.
However he also misled Parliament and he did it to secure a vote to go to war. Now THAT is serious and is Contempt of Parliament. He can be impeached and tried at the Bar of the House. Although he is now a 'Stranger' and not a 'Member' of the House.
If the House decides it WAS misled and that was a factor in the House voting to go to war then the war becomes illegal with all sorts of ramifications for many people. And the coffin following legal scum will make a fortune as will thousands of Iraquis. It will make Brexit look like a walk in the park... This is serious shit so expect a whitewash and closing of Establishment ranks .... |

I stand by my original statement. He lied, he may have been repeating others lies, he may not have know he was lying at the time, but his claims were false and that is the definition of lying.
I did not say he deliberately lied as I do not know that and doubt I ever will. "
Bill O'Reily and Michael Moore spent about 15 minutes going round in circles on that point and it wasn't interesting then! My understanding of a lie is that there has to be intent to deceive. Some of this claims were no doubt false. |

In the UK, the Prime Minister alone has the power to declare war on another country. In the case of the Iraq war, Blair put it to parliament and parliament supported the decision. So the war in Iraq was not in itself a war crime.
Did some individuals or groups of individual British soldiers, sailors, airmen or marines commit war crimes whilst they were there? I hope not, and I don't believe any evidence has come to light to prove that it has. There has already been a separate inquiry into that.

How long did it take to get the Hillsborough inquiry to find the truth? If the same standards that found the police culpable were applied to blair then he would be found guilty of misleading the uk and sending hundreds of soldiers to their death and thousands of civilians and of course the mess left behind led to the formation of isis |
