I read a recall depends if he is convicted or given a suspended sentence, after any appeal process.

I think so plus if he's barred from parliament for in excess of ten days sitting..

In any case he is suspended from the party, so if not convicted or suspended and labour did not apply the 10 day rule as you state then he would be an independent M.P.

Saying what I said before from the live court reporting things are not looking good for him, his offence carries up to 16 weeks in prison

His going to jail (mouth hits floor)

Judge is considering how long due to the M.P being a medium risk to the public if he reoffended.

Looks like he is one of us after all.

"Criminal record, fine and community service

The judge told him he is a medium risk if he were to reoffend so a prison sentence is his punishment just waiting to hear how long.

If I had done what Reeves had done it would be the sack.

Oh yeah.. the recall is coming! Interesting to see if they can mobilise… and it will the first test of new conservative vs reform… will they split the vote so labour win?

He doesn't really have to face a recall unless 10% of his area vote for it.

So if a recall isn't triggered by the vote he could stand as an independent.

In theory.

How did he get an appeal so quickly? Why isn’t he jailed for a physical assault yet there have been people put in jail recently for much less serious crimes!

This is clearly a case of Liebour putting pressure on the judiciary and getting their man off. Also, they are terrified that reform would win a by-election.

This country is being run like some sort of tin pot dictatorship.

For all of you who voted Labour, I hope you are proud of the shower of shite in Governement are actually just laughing at us all.

RIP (once) Great Britain

He's not a labour MP, they suspended him and he's an independent..

For the record I think he should still be behind bars but that's the judicial system..

To be fair if there was more room he might be still locked up that is.

Let him do his community service.

Hope for a by election.

How did he get to appeal so quickly?

You need to understand that the first appeal from a Magistrates Court hearing is to the Crown Court whether for sentencing, refusal of bail or any other relevant ruling.

These first stage appeals are often held within a couple of working days of the appeal being lodged, court capacity depending (often in gaps when juries are sent out for deliberations on other cases, or when trials conclude more speedily than envisaged).

I am unhappy that he was released because I am vindictive towards most politicians of either 'side' but the law is the law and there was nothing untoward in the timing of this reconsideration.
