I rather like Angry McAngryFace.
(Sub's names are supposed to begin with the letter A, so Sinky McSinky is probably out).
Adjacent might be quite nice, as you never know when it might be alongside you.
But yes calling it a name of a battle which was a terrible defeat for the French could be considered insensitive in the same way the Americans could name a sub "Hiroshima" and they sail/dock it around Japan. Both terrible losses of life and nothing to beat one's chest about anymore.

Definitely NOT in the same way. Over half a millennium passed before WWII. Wars changed. There weren't subs in 1415. Death toll differences. and there are survivors of WWII.

"Grant Shapps opinion on changing the name of HMS Agincourt to HMS Achilles for fear of offending the French.
Should Waterloo station have a name change for the same reason?"
Well the wokeys have been blathering on about Trafalgar Square for years. |

Maybe the Turks will be offended by Achilles. Troy and all that.
Oh and the Trojan leader was called Paris so maybe the French will be pissed as well.
Then again it was Paris who actually killed Achilles so maybe they will be happy.
Confused? you will be. |

"This would be such a Tom thread !
It's all over the news
OK. I give up. WTF is Tom?
Essex Tom, a former poster known for his satirical threads. The French were a popular target of his concerns."
And snakes..
And sharks..

I personally don't see the problem, Agincourt obviously wasnt a naval battle so what was the point in the name in the first place. I do think it could have been called HMS Trafalgar though, which was the name of a submarine until relatively recently. |

I think it has to start with A.
In that case, HMS Alarm would do - but you have to shout it like you're in 'Das Boot'. 🙂 |

"Apparently, it was down to King Charles. It is his submarine, he gets to say how it's named. It's the Royal Navy, after all. 🙂"
I read that too but wonder how many in France would actually know about agingcourt and the ones that do, will they really care |
