Trump now say he will place an emergency 25% tariff on all Colombian goods… rising to 50% tariff if they do not comply

The repatriation flights are already being criticised for the way they are treated people
Brazil are warning they will not take any more flights unless conditions improve, so have Honduras…..Venezuela as well as Colombia have said they will not take any flights |

I think the world needs to grow a backbone and tell him to fuck off when he comes calling. If you roll over straight away then he will come back again and again and again - bully’s always do. Take the hit with tariffs because they are coming anyway and at least retain some bargaining chips for later. |

It's usual to see deportees cuffed on flights - I've seen it myself on long haul flights (usually the back rows of the aircraft). The reasons are pretty obvious. Yes, they should have access to water and toilets consistent with their needs. Very much doubt these were withheld tbh. As for their rights, perhaps they should have thought of that when they illegally entered another country. |

Trump imposes tariffs on Columbia. US consumers pay higher for coffee temporarily but eventually start buying more coffee from other countries. Coffee is such a small part of the entire US economy. But from the Columbian perspective, it's a massive loss.
Same if Columbia imposes tariffs. US exports a partly amount of goods to Columbia. A tariff wouldn't affect them at all.
In a trade war, a big economy like the US will oblierate a small economy like Columbia. Trump knew this and called the bluff. He wouldn't do this against a bigger economy. |

It was actually a very ballsy move by the Colombians, because what they threatened to retaliate with tariffs was agricultural feed… of which 95% comes from the USA, but there is a abundance they can get from elsewhere so they can switch

He was handcuffed and threatened and was not believed as he had no ID on him. Also they did not have a warrant for the raid. The raid was at a factory and workers rather than criminals were rounded up.
There may be a case for a more robust policing of the immigration situation in the states but acting like the Gestapo is not the way forward. |

Some of what I read said one of the big complaints from Columbia was the use of American military planes being used. Seems after the threats of tariffs both ways and possible restrictions on Columbians politicians an agreement has been reached. Oddly the American military planes are still being used and suddenly not such a problem. Trump people also saying the tariffs etc will be held in reserve in case Columbia kick off again. Not sure if Columbia got anything out of this altercation |

Well that is debatable if you are referencing the poll that was conducted that said 85% said no to becoming part of the US? The poll was a sample of 497 people which is 0.8%, I'm not sure I would bet my house on the result of that poll. |
