I can see Starmer could pull in some good revenue from this demo in fines for using red diesel for non agricultural use, and seize some tractors for repeat offenders, although they might take a bit of crushing. |

"20% inheritance tax over £1,000,000
Everyone else 40% over £325,000"
Yes, but the £325000 doesn't relate to working assets.
The real question is 'does this enhance or degrade the ability to domestically operate our farming base in the future?' |

Like I said a few weeks ago, the farmers get treated like fodder. The dingaling government take them for granted and expect them to bow down to their wierd decisions and they say they support the workers of Britain, farmers are workers.
Abolish any form of inheritance tax for farmers is the way to go if they want Britain to survive, their farms are for their children who are Britains future.
Inheritance tax on farmers is taxing what has already been taxed.

Clearly you have never worked with a RFTU....if you can find one. When HMRC was formed 20 years ago, they reduced the fleet to a bare minimum approximately 5 working units nationwide, admittedly working on roster 24/7. To stop and test takes 20 minutes per vehicle with the need to firstly have a safe working area and secondly, a means to detain and impound any seized vehicles. The centre of London would be completely brought to a halt.
If this was a flippant remark, you have inadvertently highlighted our lack of law enforcement capability which is always welcomed. |

Sadly doesn't qualify for rebated fuel.....and any tank that was used for rebated fuel has to be drained and flushed.

Apparently the inheritance tax is aimed at tax avoiding land owners who live in the city or even overseas.
Who gives a fanny about them it's none of the government's business who owns what, why take it out on farmers.
It sounds like left wing vindictiveness.
It's victimising farmers and their children.
It's cracking foundations.

"this just sounds like the usual right wing politics of jealousy .... farmers need to get off the gravy train and start paying their fair share for once. " im sure its most likely the right wing backing them🤷we know who it is to target but this way of doing it will not work and they will be sold off before its in place and some other loophole used leaving the vulnerable farmers fucked with the policy |

Gravy train.....you clearly don't understand the economic weakness of family farming. |

While the reasons and morality was completely different, the farming system in Zimbabwe collapsed when the traditional landowners were removed from the process.
Will this result in more secure domestic farming or not? |

Having read your reply, you don't seem to care about the future of farming in the UK, nor do you have an answer to the question of whether this will result in more secure domestic farming or not.
I pity your ignorance in this area which is obviously tainted by your politics of misconception. |

Starmer gives 5 billion to farming putting more of them in the 40% tax bracket then raking more back when they carp it sounds like hog wash and bs no wonder the farmers are dipped off.
The only scam is the Starmer government.
Apparently he was brought up in rural surroundings which gives him the right to wreck farmers futures, seriously is he for real? |

We should stop growing food altogether and give all our beautiful countryside to shitty newbuilds for new arrivals, or for solar panel scammers to cover them in cheap Chinese crap that will be landfill in 25 years. That's the way forward! |

There's probably a very very simple solution to this and it's a shame that nobody in govt has thought of it or wanted to think of it..... |

"Like everyone else, farmers can make an unlimited lifetime gift (PET) 7 year rule.
....but what happens to a large number of those who do not see out 7 years?"
It’s argued this policy should start in seven years time, to prevent that.
Still have mixed views; they get triple the allowance of everyone else and the tax is at half the rate. |

If it was pure wealth, then there isn't an argument.
But this is a tax on a working asset.
It will undoubtedly assist the large corporates with the ability to gobble up assets as a tax loss and then avoid all tax whatsoever. |

Applying a level of thought and considering the implications of the policy would have been a step in the right direction, that part of government procedure seems to be very much lacking with this party.
I think IHT would have been widely accepted as fair if it was applied when the family decided to sell and not keep farming it after the death. |

Apparently it was a proposal when Spreadsheet Phil Hammond was Chancellor but rejected as unjust (I know this sentiment will draw some comments from those who like to think that they are left wing). |

It's in nobody's interest to have collectivization of our land and agriculture. It belongs in N.Korea and Cuba. Generational farmers keep us fed, let's not have a posse of hothead socialists destroy an entire industry. |

Other working assets are taxed (iht) at 40%. Take your pick of the industry.
But anyone can make lifetime transfers. |
