London Mayor Sadiq Khan 'to be knighted' in the New Year Honours List
Jump to: Newest in thread
Before anything is finalised, the drafts document of the honours list must be signed off by Sir Keir Starmer and King Charles III.
The revelation comes as the PM is reportedly seeking to reward his former top aide Sue Gray with a seat in the House of Lords after she was forced out of Downing Street in a Labour power battle.
Ms Gray, a former senior civil servant, stepped down as the Prime Minister's £170,000 chief of staff in October following reports of a clash with other senior aides.

It's a disgrace that the worst London Mayor ever is being made a Sir on the new year's honours list, doesn't deserve it at all. Andy Burnham should of got it at least |

Why is Boris Johnson getting a knighthood? I hadn't read that. |

If stealing from motorists at every opportunity is worthy of a knighthood....if spunking £6.3 million (according to Time Out, new signage, maps, literature etc) on a pointless politically correct unnecessary rebranding of the London Overground is worthy of a knighthood....if 24 hour bus lanes across town is worthy of a knighthood....give the man a hatful of them.
Arise Sir Sad-Dick Kh*nt. |

Let him have his Knighthood, personally I think it's meaningless.
The higher they are the harder they fall.
I wonder if he ends up handing it back in some protest about something or gets it taken back because of some scandal.

No politicians should get a knighthood as they are simply doing the job that the tax payer is paying them to do.
Knighthoods should be handed out for outstanding bravery or charity work. But none for politicians |

People really need to tell me why they voted for Sadiq Khan again for mayor as quite frankly there's been no improvements since his been re-elected. Still the same issues happening of high crime, people getting stab or shot, higher council taxes |

I have no vote as I live in Scotland, I have no intention setting foot in London ever
Unless:
1,Kate Bush returns to stage and performs again.
2, my flights to USA pass through Heathrow

You want the blunt, honest answer ?
Because his "own people" in the ghettos of North & East London turn out for him. Simple as that.
If that sounds anything ending in 'ist', then so be it. |

"I don't know anyone who voted for him - do you ? "
I don't know anyone who voted reform, yet apparently a largish percentage of the population did.
Either people lie or people tend to stick with people who hold similar views to themselves. |

And in Northern Ireland folks tend to vote with whoever is of the same religion..

"At some point either the King or Prince of Wales is going to have Khan knelt before them while they have a sword in their hand.
Hmmmm! Could take knife crime to a whole new level. "
Lol, an accidental but unavoidable, well timed heavy sneeze would be most welcome. |

With only 20% of Londoners voting for him, surely he should be Lord Khan for that |

The air is certainly less polluted and harmful, due to the changes implemented in London. Khan has also been a very popular Mayor and must have definitely done much more good for London, than Johnson ever did. He certainly seems one of the more measured, intelligent political representatives that we've had around the last few years. I think he'd probably be a good PM. And it's worth him having it, for the apoplectic responses from the right-wing media |

Between 1997 and 2010 Labour awarded honours to 11 sitting MPs. Between 2010 and 2024 conservatives awarded honours to 110 sitting MPs. They gave an award to Sean Bailey who lost to Khan in the mayoral election. |

Have I missed three months ? It's not April 1st is it ?
The buffoon has just wanked away over £6 million on giving unnecessary politically correct names to the London Overground. He HATES motorists and just sees them as open wallets from which he can steal whenever he wants.
And I'll say it if no-one else will. The reason he got back in last May was because "his people" in the ghettos on North and East London turn out for him. A once great capital is little better than a dirty, unsafe, Third World shithole. If that sounds unpalatable to any on here, then so be it. |

"Ah, khans beloved metropolis that is the sewer known as London. Where a r@pe is reported every hour of every day. 24 r4pes a day!
Sounds like a very successful mayor. "
There was a large 'machete brawl' in Oxford St last night, presumably some sort of ceremony to honour his enoblement.🤷♂️ |

"Wow, some "lovely" opinions on here...
I voted for Sir Sadiq Khan, I believe in his green agenda and I think he's done a pretty good job.
And, holy fuck, did you see the Tory alternative....?"
To be fair, I think that's the only reason he got back in- the Tories clearly didn't want t
to win the mayoral election so put forward such a shit candidate. It really is an insult to us Londoners.
Sadiq is in no way deserving of any form of recognition, opinion polls only register about a 20% of people being satisfied with his performance and his flagship green policies are nothing but a naked tax grab on the less well off |
