Yes there's a few accusers coming out from various shows he did.

Yep another of the BBC's failures too.

Yes, seeing those reports but again it is only gossip, nothing confirmed by the BBC

Just seen a clip of Katie Brand (I think) giggling like a schoolgirl when Wallace said he could eat her tart all day. If that is the level of offence we really need to get a grip and not destroy a man's life.

He's done himself no favours by trying to belittle the victims. He should have kept silent and waited for the outcome of investigations. Trying to hurt potential victims is a very nasty trait

I was assaulted and had to visit the police about 5 times.

Case got thrown out due to him talking bollocks for nine hours. You wouldn't go threw all that interrogation unless it was real. Talk to any victims of sexual assault.

I was referring more to his less than tactful response as shown this morning that it has all come from middleclass women of a certain age. I would be more guilty than most of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and think it was amusing when actually some take offence but I am not in a position to get ctucified by the media and general public.

To begin with I wanted to think it was a bit of an overblown issue but the more it comes out the more it’s becoming real, the video he put up trying to be the victim just tipped it over the edge as he has clearly got no thought process that he has done wrong

Who do you mean? You having to visit the police five times or him being interrogated for nine hours? Your pleasant chats with supportive officers over a cup of tea does not compare to his interrogation (as he was proved/found innocent)

That’s the key difference.

Anyone on here is here by choice and knows what’s involved.

I can see how it would be a problem in your workplace, from someone who is essentially in a senior role, and is leery with it.

Imagine having to work with someone you daren’t be alone with?

Aside from the main problem I think there are others that have lead to this.

The reluctance of women (in this instance) to speak up at the time.

The social acceptance of the type of behaviour he is alleged to have shown.

The institutional turning a blind eye that has been going on for years.

The 'banter ' clause that *some* men use to get out of poor behaviour.

The willingness of people in the public eye to suddenly find a voice when they previously kept their mouth shut.

.

.

I don't know him or any of the people involved so I'm not prepared to judge any of them but I really don't like the trial by social media culture that's grown up and the people publicly dissing him had better hope they don't have skeletons in their cupboard.

It's a shame that big institutions have been shown time after time to be useless at dealing with these things leaving people feeling their only option is to make it a public thing.

If we could trust the process things might be different but time after time it's been shown that we can't.

The revelation about Greg Wallace come as no surprise. In fact the surprising thing is how long it’s taken.

I worked at a place that was featured on the TV series that he presented - Inside the Factory. Whilst I did not have first hand experience close colleagues were involved and they found him a complete and utter twat.

Factory floor banter is one thing and most things there were quite “earthy” though always done with good humour but his was much more inappropriate than that to both male and female colleagues.

I'm hoping the recent change in the Equality Act will do something to help force institutions to act.

If you can't prove you have taken reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of employees then as I understand it a tribunal can uplift any sexual harrassment award by 25% as a penalty on the employer for breaching their duty.

Although the duty of protection extends to harassment by third parties I don't think the award uplift does though.

Historical claims will continue to be made but I'm hoping this will drive change through the organisation.

This is confidential stuff, but a best friend of ours both formerly of "the Biz" and in the right circles, has been to her fair share of celeb dinner parties. At them, you get to see how people really are, as they are in an echo-chamber of celebrity, and don't need to keep up the pretense around the plebs.

One HUGE comedy name was an utter bastard (won't name him, as he's still one of the UK's biggest exports) but another she had dinner with was Mr Wallace, accompanied by his first wife.

He was pretty rotten to his wife from the outset, but as the evening wore on, he treated her like dogshit, and was almost blissfully unable to read the room at how his actions affected those around him, whom watched with discomfort.

The guy has no filter, nor awareness of how his actions affect others.

There is some talk that he may be autistic and he does have an autistic son.

Might well explain his inability to read the room and his failure to understand that his behaviour is inappropriate.

I hate the media and the people who judge before knowing all the facts.

It can destroy people's lives!

Someone made a false allegation about me when I was 14, it took 19 months to prove I was innocent through multiple fuck ups in the system.

The media was fast to report on the case, wasn't so fast to report the outcome.

99% of people decided I was guilty before a single court appearance.

The damage was done! I still feel it to this day. Somehow I am still here but for the love I tried not to be!

11 years of therapy, 11 years of turning against the system because of how it failed me.

I got lost in said system, that young boy died that day. All because people like to make their own judgements before knowing the facts.

Wait for the facts and shame on anyone who doesn't.

I've been on the receiving end of a man's smutty conversation.

I was quite young at the time and he was twice my age at least, and my boss.

It's not easy to stand up to a man and say your behaviour isn't acceptable.

I left my job because of him and one of his clients who wanted me to stay at his for a long weekend while his wife and children were away.

I have never tried it on with anyone at work and some I have wondered, did they throw me a line?

I did slip my arm around my bone once when she stood close to me. I was horried by what I had done and retracted it quickly. Nothing was ever said

Quite amusing that he chooses to insult his core demographic of fans/viewers though ? and just about sums him up really and getting sick and tired of the wee working class nobody who fought his way to the top so it's gives them a free pass to be a twat ? times have changed and what happened in the past was sometimes quite horrific regarding male treatment of women and even the legal system and society and even education and pay and conditions and so women have a slightly more level playing field after centuries fighting for it ?and everyone loses their fat and feel empowered to speak up and out ? loved that french and saunders sketch with them on the scaffold yelling out sexist remarks to every male that walked past ...

This (the behaviour to his wife) aligns with something Kirstie Allsop said about him recently too.

To be honest, his recent statement gave me the ick, so guilty or not (because I don’t know the details) I think he’s a prat.

And if you’ve been warned about your behaviour, then you don’t need to be aware of your own actions - you’ve been TOLD that they’re not appropriate, so can we stop saying it’s autism related.

Austistic people get enough shit without folk blaming autism on every bad behaviour and dodgy personality characteristic going.

I merely mentioned the possibility of him being autistic due to reading this in the Daily Mail:

The therapist friend said: 'Gregg carries many of the autistic symptoms, the people who know him best have been saying it for years.

'He's never formally been tested, due a feeling of responsibility over Sid's diagnosis, but he really should be as it may explain a lot about his actions.

'Gregg has form for his inability to read the room, saying things that don't really belong in the moment. He has no filter and in social situations that can become dangerous, especially when it comes to jokes about sex.

'He has a light filter when it comes to sex which is common in people on the spectrum. In the modern world of TV where you can't just dismiss some of his actions as banter.

There have been far far more genuine accusations of men in the public eye than false from my experience but if you want to provide figures I'll happily admit I'm wrong.

Jumping to the conclusion that someone making a complaint about another person is looking for compo does nothing to encourage people to make complaints independently, so it's no fucking wonder they struggle with the courage to do it until others have spoken out

I've never liked Greg Wallace, always thought he was a smarmy wanker, but.......

Again, I think this is bit of a witch hunt and to be fair, his comments in ot weren't far wrong, and don't you think Kier Starmer has more important stuff to focus on sorting?

Anyway, ditch Greg, but that's always been my feeling

"There is some talk that he may be autistic and he does have an autistic son.

Might well explain his inability to read the room and his failure to understand that his behaviour is inappropriate."

It's not an excuse for inappropriate sexual behaviour, sexualised language and being a dick.

Not sure you can get compo for having to listen to his inappropriate jokes tbh

Wearing just a sock on his willy? Perhaps

He's gone about dealing with it in the wrong way... own it, apologise and maybe say he cleaned up his act in more recent years...

There have been multiple reports to BBC HR since 2012 and Wallace was given warnings about his behaviour by HR in 2017 and 2018. Is that good enough for you? Where was this reported?

Bbc news... the guardian...

That took 30seconds on Google.

I'm all for innocent before proven guilty but why are you so adamant there is no validity to any of the complaints?

Just as I thought, made up nonsense. There is no way any organisation, let alone the BBC would reveal anything about such a case. Feel free to copy and paste these made up reports.

You asked where it was reported.

That's where it was reported.

I'm sorry that when provided with the sources you then deemed them to be nonsense. Can you provide me with a list of credible sources that you would accept?

Copy and paste dear chap, I cannot find these "reports" you have made up"

Certainly.

From BBC News:

"We have also found that Wallace was warned by the BBC after a complaint was raised about him in 2018 about the show Impossible Celebrities.

Two of the women who complained say Wallace talked openly about his sex life to staff on the show, making them feel uncomfortable.

One said his sexual jokes were "disgusting", adding that he would talk about how often he was having sex, and how he was a good lover.

After they complained, Wallace apologised and they were offered counselling.

A formal HR investigation took place and, in the outcome letter, which we have seen, the BBC concluded that "many aspects of [Wallace's] behaviour were both unacceptable and unprofessional".

In a subsequent letter, which we have also seen, a BBC executive said she had held a 90-minute meeting with Wallace to make clear "how seriously the BBC takes this matter". She also reassured the workers that action would be taken "to prevent a similar reoccurrence and to safeguard others in the future"."

I agree. Sadly I’m not surprised.

The world is full of misogynists and assault apologists that are upset that it’s not ‘allowed’ anymore or is being called out, then attacking those making the complaints.

The simple truth is that if you’re not ok with someone speaking out, then you’re not ok with consent

"Aside from the main problem I think there are others that have lead to this.

About 35 years ago my wife and I worked together managing a branch of a small company. We had a young and very attractive secretary who spoke to my wife saying that another member of staff who was probably old enough to be her grandfather had made suggestive remarks to her and made her feel very uncomfortable. She didn’t want anything done about it but we managed to persuade her otherwise so I spoke to him and the following day he didn’t turn up and that was the last time we saw him.

People were reluctant to make a fuss in those days but fortunately not so much now.

I’m guessing your views are based mostly on television “police procedures” then?

And in Wales and England, it’s either guilty or not guilty. No one is ever really “proved” innocent.

I see BBC have pulled MasterChef Christmas specials. Its not clear whether this are already filmed or currently in prodcuction.

I've never watched anything with him in it as cooking programs are not my thing. Give me something with bikes and babes in. I suspect someone will get bent out of shape with that last statement - tough shit!

By cancelling programs, BBC are caving into the woke culture. They've sat on the fence about it and today changed their mind about broadcasting MasterChef. Innocent until proven guilty. Cancelling him sends a clear message, we believe this happened etc etc. Trial by journalism.

In these situations and circumstances, women have all the power. There may be something in it, there may not be.

A guy where I used to work regularly flirted with the ladies, would chat them up and compliment them etc and it was mostly reciprocated and all done in good humour. If someone didn't engage in chat, he would take that as a sign they weren't interested or were shy etc but would leave them be. Others would actively engaged in banter,

Someone made a complaint of sexual harrassment because he'd commented on a dress complimenting a womens figures. This woman had arrived at work in an off the shoulder tight black dress. She was going to a Christmas party straight from work. She was a size 6/8 with the body of a supermodel. Every head in the office turned, mine incuded. She clearly wanted to get a reaction and was wearing it to be looked at. I'd heard this woman actively engage in banter with my mate, she even asked him once if he could see the outline of her thong through her skirt!

Now for whatever reason this women got upset, maybe she realised he was complimenting women in the same way?

However, you imagine the scenario above at your work place and many years later someone says they were sexually harassed because of a compliment about a dress/figure.

As for my mate, all got dropped, especially when HR that she'd been as flirty as he'd been.

I had a shitty office job then and still have a different but shitty office job now. I don't even make eye contact with women and I'm not joking.

Yep. 17 complaints would normally see you exiting the business. Probably at complaint 1.

Think of it like this. If you had a daughter, would you be happy if a man was making derogatory comments, or inappropriate acts towards her?

"He has been around for years and no reports then suddenly lots of them. I am always suspicious of such bandwagons, how many are genuine, how many looking for compo?

I was assaulted and had to visit the police about 5 times.

Case got thrown out due to him talking bollocks for nine hours. You wouldn't go threw all that interrogation unless it was real. Talk to any victims of sexual assault. Who do you mean? You having to visit the police five times or him being interrogated for nine hours? Your pleasant chats with supportive officers over a cup of tea does not compare to his interrogation (as he was proved/found innocent)

Someone tells you they've been assaulted and that's how you respond?

Wow..."

"Are the allegations only from celebs? I watched tonights episode and considered there are about 50-60 contestants a year and Wallace has been in it nearly 20 years so around 1000 people. But only a handful have complained and only in the last week since Wark complained he made a joke (although the video of her in the competition shows her and Wallace getting on very well)

17 complaints is a large number. In normal business, you'd be in hot water. As for Kirsty, it's showbusiness, and she'll just get the job done. She stated she complained immediately afterwards

And I (and thousands of other men) work with, deal with, walk past hundreds of women on a daily basis and have not had any kind of negative response or consequence to interactions because we don't make them inappropriate in the first place.

17 is a huge number within the workplace, regardless of the ratio or percentage in terms of actual women being inappropriate to (allegedly) it's a fucking massive number.

No. Many women behind the scenes in TV have complained but the culture with any of this is don't speak up. Because you could get fired if you do. Celebs hold alot of power. Once it opens a little, then it's safer to come forward

With all this heat Greg is getting I think he has upset someone powerful and that person has made it their mission to destroy him.

I always thought he was abit of a smirking twat but it's like he's killed a bunch of kids the amount of heat he's getting, he even got a higher billing than the news in South Korea yesterday on the news channel.

Glad he's off the telly but feel sorry for all the other people on Masterchef that are losing out because of him.

There has to be a system where complaints are recorded and taken seriously, and maybe a 'three strikes and you're out' rule. That said, we also have to guard against mischievous complaints against the innocent. I worked in the US for a while, and was surprised that no male manager would ever be in a room alone with a female, let alone get close. It was usual for PAs to enter no further than the door. Not sure I'd want to see that here.

Yes, he may have done this but there have been many cases where the allegations were found to be untrue. Look at the Beech case, many lives ruined based on lies.

I'm not questioning the legitimacy of the accusations because right now I have no way of knowing who is telling the truth, and I can say the same to those who as you point out have found him guilty.

If you look back on your posts you must see a trend, as you question the integrity of the people making these accusations.

As far as I'm aware he hasn't been charged with anything.

I think there's an internal investigation ongoing and the production company have asked engaged solicitors.

Here is the problem, where is the line that should not be crossed. It is going to be a moving line and obviously there will be extremes. If you went to see a sharp tongued comedian that was renowned for being crude and picking on people in the audience, it is safe to say being there and knowing this is the act you might be on the receiving end of something rude and crude. If you then went to a restaurant and that same comedian said something rude and crude to you, that is not okay.

What Wallace is being accused of appears to be the similar in terms of expectation, people would not expect him to be rude and crude in a 1-2-1 after watching him on his TV shows, so it would have come as a rather big shock I would imagine.

If the accusations are proved to be accurate he has clearly crossed a line of decency. I'm not sure if people are trying to support his behaviour, or they are angry at how long it has taken to surface and the floodgates opening after that.

"I hate the media and the people who judge before knowing all the facts.

"^^ agreed. Gossip and rumour mongering is nothing new but the internet has given it a power it didn't have before.

Which can be a good thing and a bad thing, it just depends on the person using the internet.

I agree with the above and that is the bad side, but this is about multiple women making claims of harassment. It's not gossip, it's accusations that are being looked into.

"What an utter twat, he has well and truly soiled his own nest now, have never taken to the bloke always thought he was way to far up his backside.

Its a Witch hunt , women complaining their are upset by a sexualised joke.

So you considered this a joke?

At another meeting for the book, Kyle said that, during a restaurant meal, the TV presenter made other sexualised comments, including: “If you won't let me sleep with you, would you lick my [anus]?"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy47dz8yp4vo.amp

I really don’t think you would understand any joke. X

Shall we start a go fund page for these women in trauma ?

Let’s forget about the crisis in the world like the wars in Israel/ Ukraine,

Oh dear, linking war to this to try and close it down 🤣🤣🤣

No just putting is into perspective, its deflection and your falling of it.

So you think what he said was a joke?

I really can’t care less, lots of women in media say many misandrist statements and says it humour.

"

Ultimately you need to know your audience.

The type of comments alleged to have been made are the type of comments that would only be made in very close company to people who you knew would be ok with that type of conversation, not fairly casual work acquaintances.

The contents of this thread contain a lot of gossip and hearsay. The claims being made by the women are accounts of their experiences. To me they're very different things

I agree gossip and hearsay are very different from allegations and should be treated accordingly.

The below article mentions what the allegations are.

Thinking back to alot of my time in the workplace the banter yes some of it sexual innuendo's from both men n alot of women we would be linched in today's society. I wouldn't be surprised if within the next 10 to 15 years humour or joking of any sort will be banned in the workplace.

Banter has a definition, not sure any of what's been alleged fits it..

It's not banter and why you are even mentioning a radio ban on a thread about this subject is beyond comprehension. There are many allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour over many years. It has nothing to do with banter or a radio ban.

Genuine question, what's this got to do with feminists?

If it's genuinely offensive, then it doesn't matter if someone is a feminist or not does it?
