About a fortnight of the cost of putting migrants up in hotels, or a few hours of what we spend on RNHS.
Sounds like a bargain. |

"For the moment, the Royal Family and all of the associated pageantry brings in significantly more hard and soft value than it costs.
Unless that changes, it's great value." yes tourists don’t go to New York Rome Berlin Paris because they don’t have a monarchy I don’t know how all these great cities survive without one how bad is London if they need a king |

Tourists are only part of the story.
From a logical perspective, that statement is a little like saying that rice is unnecessary, since there are many people who eat wheat-based carbohydrates. It's a more nuanced picture than that.
For the record, a monarchy makes little sense and if, nowadays, we wanted to design a government from scratch, we would not even consider one. Given where we are, however, we needn't automatically ignore any benefits on principle. |

No figures were given.
Soft value is very hard to quantity.
Feel free to disagree |

The usual blah blah put out by royalists with absolutely NO supporting evidence whatsoever. Nobody goes to Stratford-upon-Avon to glimpse Shakespeare or Stonehenge to wave at Druids, just as many tourists would come to London WITHOUT the King |

You would have made a tonne more than that in the economic tourism surrounding it so it would be a net positive |

The funny thing is, the whole thing was technically invalid as the Arch Bishop who conducted it should have resigned before the event he also had a driving charge and he picked his feet in Picepsi.
Technically they should do it again with a legal Arch Bishop.

You mean this one isn't? Even within these few posts there are those who think we should retain a "Royal" Family, and those who feel a monarchy is out-dated and should be scrapped.
My own view is that Elizabeth II was a bit like Hugh Grant - doesn't do a lot but does it oh so well - Charles retains a little of her gravitas, but the rest are just chavs with posh voices. |

That's an insult to people who were genuinely born chavs! |

"I am thrilled we have a king. Just think about what is happening in the USA with Trump and how the country is so divided.. "
If ever there was a case & point against having an elected Head of State, the US election proved it.
330 million people and they were the best two (one of whom was parachuted in at the last minute because outgoing President is senile - if the Democrats had done what they should have and found a more credible candidate earlier there may well have been a different result) they could offer.
I'll stick with our system thanks. |

Yeah, but our monarchy doesn't run the country!
It has not been either monarchy or elected government for a very long time. |

Not looking to disagree, but I am looking for facts, so what you posted was based on no figures?

He wanted and benefits from it, so should largely have stood the cost of it. It could have been much more low key and some value for money. It's not as if the public were given full access to the whole thing, which is their private ritual. |
