In the last 6 weeks- Wholesale Gas prices have doubled and certain to impact January Energy Price Cap due to 3 weeks of High Demand with low Wind input due to High Pressure.

We are now heading deeper into Winter where most of Europe including the UK will put demand on Gas for Heating. UK has already dipped into its 12 day Gad storage.

2006 - Tony Blair said by 2025, not building 14x Nuclear power stations, embracing alternatives and significantly increase Wind claiming:

"If we don't take these long-term decisions now we will be committing a serious dereliction of our duty to the future of this country."

https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2006/may/17/energy.business

If you are currently on Capped Variable or a tariff due to run out, I strongly recommend fixing now for two years. We're in for another rocky time of High and volatile Energy prices.

I was ridiculed here in '21 while telling people the same - to fix to avoid hikes. Martin Lewis telling the country to "do nothing".

I fixed Sept '21 at 3.9p Gas - 18.9p Electricity for 3yrs and while others were paying 12p Gas and 34p Electricity came through unscathed.

Taking off the £400 government Grant with Solar, batteries the Winter 2022 September to March was £120 where others were suffering.

So again, consider fixing, not for 12months as supply is going to be tight and as Rishi said in May - this country needs to burn more Has to keep lights on. Well, that Gas is currently twice the price and we're burning a hell of a lot of it.

You'll have noticed adverts where you get free or half price weekend electricity or even paid on the DFS scheme not to use. The reality of these schemes is to avoid Grid overload at tea time and consequently- Blackouts.

I've re-fixed for 3yrs in Feb while still having 8 months to run on the 2021 contract. Why? to avoid being left on Standard Variable in the middle of another crisis as happened to many.

While refixing, switching to Economy7, increasing battery storage to 59kwh and installing Air Conditioning.

This means all the Electricity consumed is only ever at night rate of 12p/kwh and running AC for heating works out 2.8p - half the price of running Gas central heating.

Ed Miliband says that my energy bills are going to be £300 cheaper.

Should I trust Ed or some bloke on the internet.

I will go with Ed. He’s very believable.

He was. And there are still people wanting to drag our heals transitioning away from fossil fuels.

If you're old enough.... you will remember the days when we disconnected and reversed our gas meters by 180 degrees, reconnected and had meter running in reverse for a few weeks.

The good old days of the 80s and 90s lol

Carbon capturing plant looks like it uses more energy that it produces or captures.

Apparently scientists say the earths current eco system can't cope with the amount of carbon being produced.

So what's the government's next move. Build more houses on land that absorbes carbon.

Back to drawing board me thinks.
