Seems in Germany if you don't agree with the horrific killings of innocent civilians journalists/media aid workers and you criticise the Israeli government your now classed as antisemitic! Is still another step towards lessening freedom of speech? |

yes there seems to be 2 sides on the reporting of this some say Israeli fans was pulling down Palestinian flags from buildings the night before. And openly looking for trouble it almost feels like western politics are scared to say or criticise anything to do with the Israeli government for fear of being called antisemitic. |

The Israeli's believe that if you do not support them 100% then you must be anti-semitic. Until they recognize themselves that some actions are difficult to justify they will be trapped in the victim mentality. There is a need to see the other side of the argument and to try to have some empathy. Unless both sides learn some humanity the vicious cycle of hate will never end. |

It does look as if a bunch of Maccabi fans travelled from Israel to the Netherlands and behaved in a racist and hooligan manner. They were rude, incentive and wholly inappropriate. Those for whom they showed disrespect, as well as other football fans, locals and others from the Muslim/Arab community, then decided to target all Maccabi fans, Israelis and Jews in the area. Whether because of the previous hooliganism of independently.
What's interesting is that the main violence was not perpetrated by football fans, but rather by a specific community group. This would be like the EDL organising against, say a Polish football team (and any other Poles unlucky enough to be standing around). This spills out of the realm of football hooliganism and highlights a social issue. Where you have self-organising violent groups then, whatever the provocation (mostly, as people on here put it, hurty words), you need to ask some difficult questions.
The first question is evident from comments on here - people seem to accept that if you insult a group of Arabs, then "duh, they go jihadi on you arse" (and that of your entire ethnic clan). The fact that people accept this suggests that people have low expectations from Muslims and Arabs. This is problematic. Other questions include those linked to immigration and integration in a country already split on this issue, where Geert Wilders is currently getting a major poll boost.
There seems to be no question that Israeli fans of Maccabi behaved very badly, crossing into hooliganism. But the quite possibly linked violence is a frightening (scale, savagery and organisation) escalation. |

More independent videos emerging on social media platforms showing more attacks from maccabi fans. Just watched GB news at 17.20 where the presenter done nothing but try her best to talk over the guy who was saying that there's nothing but one sided reporting of this. She even questioned if the true numbers of children and women slaughtered in Gaza was true! |
