When we lose an election, we accept the results

Jump to: Newest in thread

From the land of haribos.

Did you also see the concession speech from harris following her defeat? She was thanking everyone and their supporters.

What is your view about the 2 parties differences when losing an election? It seems that trump cant accept it as well as harris can, even before the election results trump said that if we lose we will blame it on cheating, harriss side takes it a lot bettter and just accepts it

It’s trump rather than his party as a whole, although the party largely does his bidding.

McCain accepted defeat in a normal manner, for example.

And yes, trump had laid the groundwork on the “steal” lies in case he didn’t win, and was gearing up to cause trouble

I’m fine thanks. Why do you ask?

Actually, had a phenomenal day financially yesterday, as some of the US stocks I hold absolutely surged.

Maybe stick to what the poster actually posts rather than what you imagine thru mean.

He may or may not like the result, but there is no suggestion that he doesn’t accept it. Two completely different things

I thought she did a very good job of it.

Unlike Hilary who became the first presidential hopeful not to give a concession speech, and instead just hid for several days.

Both relay very human characteristics of both genders,

Wether good or bad at least they are honest.

If I was me I'd just say "fuck it we lost, thank you and good night"

Harris disappeared on election night and didn’t speak to her supporters.

That doesn’t seem particularly respectful to people who were probably upset and had given a lot of their time free of charge.

Hillary Clinton we all know didn’t accept the result in 2016 either and still doesn’t.

If it were a closer result Harris would have objected on some grounds, as indeed she is entitled to do. The courts can decide.

It was such a landslide for Trump however that there was zero opportunity to dispute the results.

As the Republicans said it had to be, make the result “too big to rig”. And it was.

Trump was very gracious in victory, less so in 2020, unless you think he won then aswell?

I’m not sure twitter is the best example of reasoned political discourse.

This reaction to election results is the norm. Trump’s reaction was an exception.

There have been appeals / recounts before, which is fair enough, but nothing like trump’s 2020 performance.

And going back to McCain, he was gracious in defeat.

Hopefully they now revert to normal behaviour now

I sit on the fence with my view for most news/information I read on social media or get from TV etc but in a lot of cases you get peoples opinions on stuff that's happing in real time (not what they're told to say) News stories they the media hide from you, don't report on etc etc in this case the amount of people saying they was voting for Trump

Nobody was “hiding” any info re trump support. There were hundreds and hundreds of polls, the results of which were freely available.

The fact that the polls got things wrong does not mean that anyone was “hiding” anything
