Hi all...
Can anyone plse give me an educated answer!?
And not like most idiots on here who will play the racism and gender card on my ?????
In a modern world where we are trying to change how the human race sees only a human being regardless of race/nationality/sex etc etc...
Why do we keep banging on about!?,,,
And this is the example I'm talking about...
The media coverage of the new conservative leader is a wash about her being black and a women....
All the time we all keep teaching the younger generations and spouting the poison of race/gender etc in there ears nothing will ever change...
Unfortunately my opinion of the human race regarding racism is very diluted...
Reason being every race and gender stick together and that will never change...
And people don't like people regardless of race/gender/nationality etc etc...
I mean I don't like my new supervisor at work...
Because he's rude clueless and a bully...
Not because he has ginger hair...
Anyway had 10minutes to kill before the breeders cup.. |

"The media coverage of the new conservative leader is a wash about her being black and a women...."
It's because the news media is obsessed with records. They love to report that a thing is more important than any other that has happened in the past.
So we get stories about the first person to do a thing, the first Briton to do that thing, the first British woman to do that same thing, the first African-origin person to do it, the first person with a disability to do it, the first person under 18 to do it, etc.
If there's heavy rain the news can't describe it as 'unseasonably heavy rain', they say it's the heaviest rain since 2017. They could say 'worst in 7 years', but that doesn't sound as impressive, so the 'since xxxx' format gets used a lot.
It's a depressingly sensationalist method of presenting news. |

"She’ll be sacked within 18 months most likely so really who cares
I think she will last longer than that as in opposition she does not have to deliver & can talk about lower tax & more growth etc

So the media shouldn't comment on something happening for the first time ever in our politics? Surely be a bit weird if they didn't mention it.
I mean, I think she's an absolute lunatic and hope she never gets anywhere near bring PM, but I can still appreciate it's an important moment. In the same way it was when Rishi became leader/PM. |

It's not an important moment. We've already had a female party leader, and a PoC party leader, both of whom went on to be Prime Minister. Badenoch is just party leader, she might never get to be PM.
If Jenrick had won would the papers be full of stories about the first ever Conservative leader whose surname begins with a 'J'? |

We'll have to agree to disagree. She's the first black woman to lead a major political party in the UK. That's significant, even if you don't think so.
You can't lump her in with Rishi as "just another ethnic" and nor with Thatcher/May/Truss as "just another woman".
I agree she's very unlikely to be PM, thank heavens. |
