Tommy Robinson terrorism charges?

Far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been taken into custody ahead of a major demonstration by his supporters in London this weekend.

Kent Police said a 41-year-old man had been arrested at the direction of the High Court and would appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday in connection with contempt of court allegations.

The force said Robinson has also been charged under his real name of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon with allegedly refusing to provide his phone’s PIN to officers who had stopped and questioned him at the border in Folkestone in July.

He was granted bail over that allegation and will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 13 November.

The alleged offence under the Terrorism Act is not an accusation that he was planning an attack and relates solely to police powers to examine phones at ports as part of investigations.

Yaxley-Lennon is facing potential jail at Monday's hearing on contempt of court charges.

It is alleged he breached an injunction not to repeat lies about a Syrian refugee which had been previously ruled by a judge to be defamatory.

Shortly after he entered Folkestone police station on Friday afternoon, the official Tommy Robinson X account confirmed that he had been taken into custody.

The move to detain Yaxley-Lennon comes less than 24 hours before a major policing operation to contain potentially thousands of his supporters.

I suggest his better off arriving via a small boat on the south coast, won't be found for a few years

This story I know very little about other than, a film was made, a court case followed that ended up with Robinson being told he faced jail if he repeated comments in the film, he holds rallies that have brought in many thousands, he was detained leaving the country, he lives outside the uk and was arrested because of not complying when detained leaving the country on his return.

Can somebody fill in the gaps other than saying he’s a racist, etc?

If you look on YouTube, he does an interesting interview with Jordan Peterson which explains most of it. The ins and outs are intriguing... basically the state can take everything away from you if you don't comply, eye opening imho

Racist he maybe, I’m no fan, however if you treat him like this then there are thousands of others who should be being given the same treatment but race, political outlooks and sexual orientation allow them a free pass, it has got worse over successive governments but make no mistake it will snowball under this one, until one day you wake up and realise that your human rights have disappeared and you will be expected to continually apologise for being born the person you are, whilst the radical minority run riot and do as they please.

It's already started, and agree, it's the snowball effect ... very hard to stop. But what annoying for most, they use these things for potential opponents/thorns in the backside. Yet to afraid to do the same tactics against the drug dealers/criminal gangs.

He might have been treated a lot better if he had not breached the terms of his bail conditions last time and absconded and fled the country…

He is a flight risk… he clearly showed that he was in contempt of a court order before and I am surprised it took this long and he wasn’t immediately taken in at the airport on return to the uk

He got afforded a luxury most people in his position would not have done which was sleeping in his own bed for a few more days

It's not really an appropriate comparison though, unless if course one breaches the law but surely that's how it should be yes?

they know he's a flight risk so that's why they've nicked him because sure as shit he wasn't going to turn up again to face a contempt of court case due which he knows he's bang to rights..

He was on explicitly told by the court not to repeat an allegation that had already been determined to have been defamatory…. He still has not paid the person concerned for that either

So when he made the allegation again and an original court date to answer for that had been arranged… he absconded and fled the country!

So he had proved he is a flight risk by doing exactly that….. inflaming a different situation whilst outside the country making again false allegations is just the cherry on top the cake!

He got to walk into a police station under his own terms… he got treated differently as in he should really have been detained as soon as he got past passport control!

There would have been nothing to stop him going to this protest, and then fleeing the country again

Yes agreed but detaining him under anti terror laws is I think playing a dangerous game.

He should of been detained for breach of bail conditions. There is enough evidence against for him to have been held and put before a judge.

The anti terror smacks more of the authorities going on a fishing expedition

I don’t know how people can post the C word in a conversation and admin allow it. Not acceptable in an open forum. But then it is fab and standards have dropped as of late.

I have got to agree.

I asked a question right at the top of the thread, basically can some one fill in the gaps I have..

Nothing, has been offered up and as usual.

I'm interested in how a civil libel case gets him a potential jail sentence, and how he has been held on terror charges for not giving the police his pin number for his phone, but they let him go at the time of not providing it.

It is all very strange and complex

The civil case once he lost had certain clearly explained instructions from the judge which he knowingly ignored and appears to have doubled down on hence he's now looking at a criminal contempt of court case..

Police using one aspect of the law isn't that uncommon given that's how some laws are, it's clearly stated in the op which is copy and paste from the 'msm' and is plain to see he's not being charged with terrorism just they've used that (the pin for his phone) to detain him..

Which if he's not able to attend the rally is another reason probably..

He is guilty of breaching the injunction as far as I'm aware.

He has been bailed on the 'terrorism' charge, which is a bullshit piece of law.

They have remanded him on the contempt charge because 'he's a flight risk', so much of a risk that he came back to the country and answered his appointment.

This remand is to stop him attending today, that's all.

He has civil case brought against him, the judge gave an instruction for him not to play the film, he did and it becomes a criminal offence, is how I am reading it.

Why did the judge get involved in the first place it is a civil matter, judge the outcome of that civil matter is usually the way forward? Putting clauses into the judgement that turn the civil case into a criminal case seems really odd.

I feel I'm missing a simple element...

The pin number for his phone, my point being they used terror laws to charge him because he wouldn't tell the pin number.

He did that when leaving the country, why did they let him leave and arrest him under those laws when he returned?

Again, what am I missing here, it all seems out of whack

Again, and there's probably legally qualified people who will assist the civil case is held in the courts and judged by a judge in this case so once the ruling is reached it has legal authority with regards to several aspects, compensation and aspects relating to what the actual case was about as it would be if the case was another area..

If I keep letting your tyres down and won't stop you could take our a civil case against me and if you win and I continue I will having lost be liable in the criminal court for breaching the obvious decision that I should stop ..

That's how I see it..

"Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 provides stop and detention powers in ports and airports where 'examining officers' are able to stop, question and/or detain people to ascertain whether they are likely to be engaged in acts of terrorism, without the need for any reasonable suspicion."

Tell me that's not a bullshit piece of law.

If there are 'other issues' then there will be evidence of those. You can't just detain people without evidence, except you can if you do t like them.

"Far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been taken into custody ahead of a major demonstration by his supporters in London this weekend.

He might have been treated a lot better if he had not breached the terms of his bail conditions last time and absconded and fled the country…

He is a flight risk… he clearly showed that he was in contempt of a court order before and I am surprised it took this long and he wasn’t immediately taken in at the airport on return to the uk

He got afforded a luxury most people in his position would not have done which was sleeping in his own bed for a few more days "

This thread is littered with absolute nonsense.

Has anyone speaking about him and his breach of injunction watched the documentary?

Has anyone watched the HNH documentary?

What do you take from both of those?

It might be bullshit, to his supporters etc but to those who used it that means nothing especially if there's are other issues they are after him for which we might learn in time..

A means to an end etc..

Sounds similar to stop and search in principle..

"So many people can't see past their hatred for him.

This thread is littered with absolute nonsense.

Has anyone speaking about him and his breach of injunction watched the documentary?

Has anyone watched the HNH documentary?

What do you take from both of those?

I have got to agree.

I asked a question right at the top of the thread, basically can some one fill in the gaps I have..

Nothing, has been offered up and as usual.

I'm interested in how a civil libel case gets him a potential jail sentence, and how he has been held on terror charges for not giving the police his pin number for his phone, but they let him go at the time of not providing it.

Watched both it and concluded the man is an absolute cunt with only one objective to stir hatred and division….. his methodology to rally the uneducated and bigoted to join his cause

That's all you concluded?

You didn't have any questions from any of the near on 4 hour footage?

What else do you think I could conclude:

His character - cunt

His goals and objectives - to spread division and hatred

His audience - the uneducated and bigoted

Or, should I be speculating that the home office and the police are acting in a dysfunctional and prejudiced manner and the persecution of the individual is infringing his human rights? I think not ….. and more importantly feel assured that national security does exist and operate in a covert manner capable of tracking and intervening with individuals who are fuelling discord and extremism

You have concluded plenty about him but absolutely nothing about the content.

I was asking about the documentaries, not Robinson. Hence, you can't see past your hatred and watch something with open eyes. "

I sense you are a sympathiser for his cause and conviction…… further I note your leap to assume I am politically motivated, which if you could wipe the lens you are looking through you would clearly see I am not. My politics are not in question here, however the behaviour and manipulation exerted by a certain individual are. Thankfully the security services are indeed squeezing him and his associates to curtail his influence and potentially, if sufficient evidence exists (for the CPS and courts to determine), his freedom.

My first post was about people not being able to see past their hatred for the man. Nothing you have written sense has convinced me otherwise.

Especially as I asked about the footage and you went into a rant about the man.

If you think Government agency’s do not act in a dysfunctional manner.

The Weapons of mass destruction springs to mind. The illegal Iraq War. Where Iraq has been completely destabilised. The deaths that took place all under Tony Blair’s watch. The Libyan overthrow of Gaddafi. The whole country destabilised.

Putin labelled another Hitler. Netanyahu allowed to defend himself. Russia a Pariah state. Israel practice apartheid. Allowed into the international arena.

Don’t think for one second Government agencies are all high and mighty.

They enforce a narrative. Which the mainstream media push.

Grooming gangs. Not investigated! The fear of upsetting race relations. The victims were collateral damage.

All I take from this is I would not let the police into my phone, so I expect I would be arrested.

I make a stand for my personal freedoms and when I read that another person has stood up for theirs and hence my freedoms I applaud them whoever they are.

Remember this terrorist act was sold to us as foreign people who would harm us so the act protects us, and we see now it being used against us which is the purpose of the act in the first place.

"If you look on YouTube, he does an interesting interview with Jordan Peterson which explains most of it. The ins and outs are intriguing... basically the state can take everything away from you if you don't comply, eye opening imho"

When you say “don’t comply”,if you ignore the law of the land, ignore court orders, and run away to avoid court appearances, then yes, the system will eventually catch up with you. And rightly so.

He is an absolute parasite, trading on people’s hatred and fears. Ugly xenophobia and racism.

… and some other roles lap it up and see him as some sort of victim. Incredible.

Investigations and court proceedings take an absolute age. I was involved in a case that took 7 years from start to finish.

Some have been, although I don't believe for one minute that all have been. Knowing that it took decades for some to be investigated I can't help but imagine there are others.

We're probably all aware that some cases take a long time but some of these were actively covered up.

How long did it take for some of these gangs to be investigated?

My point is that they WERE investigated. The poster I was replying to was suggesting that they weren’t. Thanks for agreeing with me.

I know of no cases they have been “actively covered up”. Do you? If so, please report them.

And there are probably investigations going on at the moment that we (rightly) know nothing about and will only hear about when they get to court. "

Rotherham and Telford are 2 that spring to mind. I'm sure you've heard of them.

This thread is littered with absolute nonsense.

Has anyone speaking about him and his breach of injunction watched the documentary?

Has anyone watched the HNH documentary?

What do you take from both of those?

The report on the investigation showed that police did not investigate for a long time in spite of numerous complaints because they were scared of being called racists.

And why would they have been deported? Were the offenders not living legally in this country? "

There are rules that immigrants even if they are legal, if they commit violent crimes have to be deported. There was a Pakistani guy who is staying here years after deportation order because he keeps appealing for "right to family life".

It took far too long and yes in the case of Rotherham etc there were some awful decisions taken for which people should have been held to account..

But none of those aspects is new sadly, there's cases still ongoing from the mid sixties and seventies in Liverpool around what was a 'christian brothers' school..

And across the country historical cases of abuse in various institutions have for decades been ignored, covered up etc..

It's one of those crimes which is again sadly not limited to one strata of society or cultural group..

The media usually labels race-hate as "far right", but doesn't always have to be political to hate people of other ethnicities.

So that’s one guy who is going through an appeals process then?

Doesn’t really stack up with the suggestion that “the majority” have been released, or the implicit suggestion that they should all have been deported.

The “deporting immigrants” rule you mention, does that apply to 2nd generation? I wouldn’t have thought so. That may partially explain the lack of deportations

Telford sex gang ringleader Mubarek Ali was today identified as the offender preparing to be released just five years into a 22-year jail sentence.

ringleaders of the Rochdale grooming gang ‘may remain in the UK forever’ despite being ordered out of the country 11 years ago.

Qari Rauf, 54, and Adil Khan, 53, were convicted, along with seven other men, of grooming and gang-r 47 girls as young as 12, and ‘pimping’ them out to other predators.

The two taxi drivers were told by a judge and then Home Secretary Theresa May in 2012 they would be sent back to Pakistan once their prison sentences were completed in 2014 and 2016.

They were case after case with probably hundreds of young girls traumatised that certain services knew about but let it slide as the racial backlash and hatred would of caused riots, and i truly beleive the only reason the rotheram, bradford keighley and many more grooming gangs actually ended up with the police doing something is the public awareness that tommy gave them. Does that make him far right or just RIGHT naming and shaming predators and bringing them into the public eye

There was a good documentary years and years ago that Tommy participated in. They had a stream of various people trying to get through to him, and he almost almost saw that racism is just stupid. But at the last minute he just couldn't get his head around it, and went back to hating Muslims.

Anyway, his only schtick is racism, why anyone pretends it isn't is just willfully ignorant.

"They were case after case with probably hundreds of young girls traumatised that certain services knew about but let it slide as the racial backlash and hatred would of caused riots, and i truly beleive the only reason the rotheram, bradford keighley and many more grooming gangs actually ended up with the police doing something is the public awareness that tommy gave them. Does that make him far right or just RIGHT naming and shaming predators and bringing them into the public eye

Why are you suggesting that Tommy Robinson gives a shit about any of these issues?

He only care about getting donations from his followers who get energised by his anti-immigrant and anti-muslim nonsense.

😂😂can tell by the responses that none of you have actually sat and watched any interview with him or you just live in cuckoo land with the unicorns and leprechauns

Seen serval interviews with him, appearances on panels etc.

There was a good documentary years and years ago that Tommy participated in. They had a stream of various people trying to get through to him, and he almost almost saw that racism is just stupid. But at the last minute he just couldn't get his head around it, and went back to hating Muslims.

Anyway, his only schtick is racism, why anyone pretends it isn't is just willfully ignorant.various people? Who

And head around what exactly? That it werent the muslim grooming gangs fault? Or the syrian refugees have a right to mol***est young girls or attack elderly women not sure what there is to get your head around tbh

The fact that little Stephen is massively racist "

"

And why would they have been deported? Were the offenders not living legally in this country?

There are rules that immigrants even if they are legal, if they commit violent crimes have to be deported. There was a Pakistani guy who is staying here years after deportation order because he keeps appealing for "right to family life".

That may partially explain the lack of deportations "

These guys were ordered to be deported in 2018. They then used the human rights excuse to appeal again and lost the appeal in 2022. But they still haven't been deported.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01/22/rochdale-grooming-ring-abusers-not-yet-deported/

I don't know why child rapists whose crimes have been proven already in courts have so many ways to appeal. It makes the whole thing a joke. The amazing ECHR "human rights" framework does fuck all when European politicians keep taking away people's freedom of speech. But protecting pedos and rapists from being deported? The human rights framework seems to do a brilliant job at that.

This man is nothing but a glorified thug bought and paid for by zionists to promote hatred and division in the country. I am truly sick of his like and their constant need to scapegoat migrants for every problem in the country. This is nothing but a diversion tactic from the actual reality of the uk being a lapdog to zionist regiments, impoverishing itself to support a genocide in another country. So as far as im concerned, i am not in the slightest bit upset about this news at all. Quite frankly i think all the so called pro britain far right idiots who have made a lot of money from stoking hatred, and claim to be relatable to the working class, to get lost as they've caused enough damage already.

Again, what am I missing here, it all seems out of whack"

Breaching any court order is contempt of court, which can amount to criminal contempt, depending on the circumstances.

My best guess on the phone pin, without having seen the order (I don't know if that's available publicly without looking), is that he's refused to give it to the police, and they've later found a stipulation in the court order against him. The police can then decide to pursue it as a criminal matter and hence come back to arrest him, as as far as I've always known refusing to give your pin number isn't actually illegal but happy to be corrected on that.

And why would they have been deported? Were the offenders not living legally in this country?

There are rules that immigrants even if they are legal, if they commit violent crimes have to be deported. There was a Pakistani guy who is staying here years after deportation order because he keeps appealing for "right to family life".

95% of the uks ra*pe is from muslim men from a population of 40 odd percent but speak about it and you're rac*ist 🤦"

This is a good example of the kind of utter bollocks people believe in other to justify to themselves hating Muslims and/or supporting Tommy Robinson.

The 95% claim was about Muslims in India, which also turned out to be false."

The claim that 40 per cent of the population are Muslim is farcical too.

The real answer is less than 7 per cent, so the proportion of the population that are Muslim men is more like 3.5 per cent. Not 40 ….

Made-up numbers. (Mine are from ONS)

"Far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been taken into custody ahead of a major demonstration by his supporters in London this weekend.

He might have been treated a lot better if he had not breached the terms of his bail conditions last time and absconded and fled the country…

He is a flight risk… he clearly showed that he was in contempt of a court order before and I am surprised it took this long and he wasn’t immediately taken in at the airport on return to the uk

He got afforded a luxury most people in his position would not have done which was sleeping in his own bed for a few more days

incredible from _abio afforded a luxury pmsl he went on a family holiday with his wife and kids that had been planned for over a year followed by press his wife and kids photographed then they had to flee somewhere else all for refusing his pin on his iPhone how many other journalists have to do that over 50 million have wached his documentary as anyone seen the one about panarama trying to stick him up and the Jordan Peterson one was an eye opener this is how the goverment work now lock ppl up for freespeach not hate speach freespeach wtf"

Well I’m sorry that the court got in the way of his holiday…..

There was a simple solution to this… don’t break the court injunction in the first place!

He knew it was there specifically from the deformation case he lost, he decided to ignore it… he decided he was above the courts!

He decided not to turn up for the court date

He is a proven flight risk as he decided to use his “Irish” passport to leave the country

Anyone else would likely have been detained at the airport there and then.. rather than him having the luxury of turning himself in after a few days when he felt like it!

Why should he be given any more deference when he has already shown in multiple incidents in this case alone that he will not follow the rules set out to him!

And I am not even considering his part in the spread of Southport misinformation whilst laying in the sun in Cyprus on this family holiday you seem to think takes precedent (which the court could do in relation to his character)

"So many people can't see past their hatred for him.

This thread is littered with absolute nonsense.

Has anyone speaking about him and his breach of injunction watched the documentary?

Has anyone watched the HNH documentary?

What do you take from both of those?

You are living in fantasy land if you think any type of discussion about such a toxic individual is not going revolve around the person. The man is an absolute cunt who is playing off the community and society he lives in. There is absolutely no need to generate any sympathy for him either in the way he is being treated or investigated.

The problem we have here is that Labour's heavy-handed treatment of rioters/protestors actually strengthens people like Tommy. There has been almost no discussion nor analysis of the underlying causes behind the rise of the right, and for that matter, public disaffection in general.

I agree. Simply cushing ideologies we do not like or agree with will not make them go away (often the opposite) and doesn’t address underlying issues. Dialogue is needed. An adult conversation to better understand what drives behaviours or beliefs. Trying to hand wave it away or dismiss it will not work.

While I personally abhor people like Robinson and movements like the EDL etc. I suspect SOME of what drives these people (or creates an environment that allows people like that to develop) is based on genuine and valid concerns of people in the UK. We all need to listen to each other to understand differences and also identify similarities.

And his history of violence, assaults etc backs that up. 😂😂😂i really dont think you have any concept of real life tbh and can sense where youre from is like, if u say stuff about people online then its going to have backlash expecially from a muslim community, thats like insulting a travellers mum and not expecting war so of course theres going to be violence along the way "

You have “a sense” regarding where I’m from? Go on then, enlighten us. Tell me about where I’m from

"The problem we have here is that Labour's heavy-handed treatment of rioters/protestors actually strengthens people like Tommy.

You're talking shit. Everyone is FAR RIGHT. Even the PM said so

No. Not everyone.

Tommy is though "

If not everyone is, why do you refer to the 'racist riots'?

Actually… I am going to call you out on this

The “Tommy Robinson” case goes back before the Southport inspired misinformation riots…

This is people trying to retroactively link the two to try and suit a narrative

If you really want to link the two… how about his Southport tweets of misinformation that may have inspired people to go out and riot"

What tweets were those Fabio?

So forget about tommy then lets answer a few questions in rwgarfs to some of his ideas

Do we think we should be taking all these migrants given the cost and lack of resources?

Are they better for our economy?

And should any that break the law be deported?

Apologies. I must be.

The PM did say they were though. Tommy wasn't there, nor did he call for people to riot, quite the opposite in fact.

In Ireland, many of the migrants / refugees have been trained on roles where there was a skills shortage, now have jobs, pay taxes etc. and are helping national growth.

Or you could just barricade them in a crappy hotel and try to attack them …
