Are we witnessing the demise of the political wing of the IRA.

Has their day come....and gone.

Will the citizens of of our glorious republic, by not voting for the dinosaur that is Sinn Fein, finally consign the men of violence and their fellow travellers to the pages of our history books where they belong.

"May not be so in the north "

It's the same party, North and South, as they are always so quick to point out.

So you'd rather a right wing blue shirt party or else a failed entity? Sinn féin as a party are the only political party north and south that not only hold a mandate to represent the people of the whole island but also have a planned approach for unifying the island. Ireland as n island is one of the ricjest countries in the wprl woth our natural resources and aggricultural land, would you rather not see these resources utilised to benefot the people of ireland instead of bei. Sold off to the yanks for pittance?

Sinn fein are no longer a party for Irish republicanism. A united Ireland is very far down their list of things to achieve because it's already promised to them. No need to fight for it. They are now the party of globalism and open borders. Makes sense because of the one border they wanted rid of.

A far cry from "Ireland for the Irish" . If Bobby sands was alive today he'd vote for a brexit equivalent for Ireland.

I am not too sure that those who gave their lives and those who also took other people's lives to further their cause would be very proud of the party that now represents them.

Recent revelations have exposed the underbelly of a political party controlled by shadowy figures, some of whom are swanning about in their fancy apartments in Spain or villas in the South of France, a lifestyle funded by money taken at gunpoint from the citizens of Ireland, North and South. They have left a trail of death and destruction in their wake when they shot our gardai and terrorised innocent post office and bank employees to line their own pockets.

No criminals or their supporters deserve to be given the right to rule over our democracy.

Their day has come.....and is now long gone.

There are plenty other left wing, socially aware, parties to ensure that the people of our country, north and south can be properly represented.

People need to take off the green tinted glasses and learn to live in the real world.

If we didn't have the vast investment by multi national corporations and the subsequent employment in this country we would be forced to go with a begging bowl to the UK and have our economy supported like that of Northern Ireland.

The freedom and independence that we enjoy today was not won by bombs or bullets, it was achieved by the hard work and enterprise of the generations that have gone before us, of whom we can be justifiably proud.

Revisionism seems to be your thing.

No mention whatsoever of the violent men and women of the IRA in the period from 1916 to 1923 who very much won whatever measure of freedom and independence the 26 counties achieved by bomb and bullet, killing more civilians in that period than the IRA you despise so much did over a thirty year period. Indeed, in Cork alone, the civilian death toll during the truce period is astounding.

No mention of the largest shipment of meth ever imported into this state by a FG member who was about become an election candidate for the party at the time?

No mention of the FG general election candidate who sexually assaulted a "sleeping" friend by shoving a twix up his anus and making a video of it?

No mention of the Labour Party TD who sent photos of his appendage to a teenage girl, then resigned and went back to being a school teacher?

No mention of the entire FF cabinet who protected Brendan Smith from extradition due to the scandal it might cause?

No mention of the FF TD who made sure a crime scene involving a possible murder was compromised and the truth hidden for decades?

No mention of the Carrigan report presented to W.T. Cosgrave and the Cumann na nGaedheal cabinet, all of whom became the FG leadership a couple of years later, as well as the incoming FF government under Devalera the following year. The report commissioned by the government showed up huge numbers of child sex abuse cases within families as well as state institutions and by clergy members. It was suppressed by both of the two political parties as they feared it would cause a scandal, so for decades, from at least 1931 onwards, both FF and FG knew what was going on in those institutions yet did nothing whatsoever to stop it?

No mention of the thousands of children living in emergency accommodation in "the richest country in Europe"?

No mention of the children suffering with scoliosis who were promised by the then health minister and current Taoiseach that he'd have them looked after only to ignore them completely as soon as he got reelected.

Nah, those things aren't important at all.

.....

All of those things are extremely important and deserve to be highlighted in the same way I have highlighted the "shortcomings" of Sinn Fein.

Coming from a family that was actively engaged in both the War of Independence and the Civil War I am more than aware of the atrocities committed and would never condone such actions.

.....

Tá lá Sinn Fein tagtha agus ag dul go tapa.

Mar a fheicimid san Úcráin agus sa Mheánoirthear, ní dhéanann an buama agus an piléar ach scrios. Cumhacht na ndaoine an daonlathas a bhaint amach.

SF's day has come and is quickly going.

As we see in Ukraine and the Middle East, the bomb and bullet achieve only destruction. The power of the people achieves democracy.

Some of the things could be said of FG, no mention of Michael Noonan as he hounded Brigit McCaul and all those other women to their deaths or how he covered up the systematic abuse of a disabled woman in Wexford.

How ffg enriched their cronies with their vulture capitalist friends who have had debts written off by a very corrupt financial system

FG is not the idyllic party of Collins but a rump of the fascist Blueshirts and a murderous Mulcahy who murdered prisoners during the civil war.

Sinn Fein did offer a left wing opposition but lost it's way and unfortunately the malaise within is no different to Fg, FF or any other party

My take on it.

SF saw a huge surge in popularity a few years back. People were bored with the old parties and lack of progress on big issues like housing, and SF very successfully harnessed that frustration and presented themselves as a viable alternative.

In the subsequent years, people have had a chance to see the party in its totality, had a better idea of how they operate, and gone off them. They have flip-flopped, and lost the momentum and energy that had been built up.

People like the idea of an SF alternative rather than the reality.

I’m referring only to SF in ROI.

Different, because within living memory they were murdering people, and many of the people involved in those atrocities are still there.

So commenting about loyalist paramilitaries would be a fair bit off-topic

Not really as you mentioned other groups that are not from Ireland, loyalist paramilitaries are on Irish soil and had their shair in murder and bombing, LVF started before the split of north and south, yeah you are right it's more about sinn Fein but way op puts it like is only the IRA is responsible for all the killing and bombing and other underworld activity.
