Just watching the missles on the news, think most of been destroyed... I'm getting a bit sick of it.
It's given the green light to Israel and potentially a nuke or 2
The American and British war industry rubbing its hands with the thought of money, especially with the election coming up.
No doubt Iran was been on the phone to Russia, possibly Pakistan, north Korea and China |

That's a lot of conclusions you've jumped to there.
Can't see china or Pakistan getting involved. |

Depends on far it escalated, they will most likely be involved in supplying arms, and with Pakistan being a nuclear power, definitely wouldn't rule out a dirty bomb. China will just watch and make money ... bit like the usa/british/eu when you think about it |

So what's your alternative to not having defence industries? Capitulation? It's not defence industry profits that are driving this war - it's toxic ideology and hatred. |

True but the industry will jump on it quite quickly, though government won't mind, higher oil, higher prices at the pump, more tax revenue |

You never saw the consequences of the OPEC crisis in the 70s.
I'm sure the UK government will not be happy about this.

Oh I can, as factories shut, power cuts at certain times
But times in this country are different, America export gas and the French export electricity with nuclear power, though I'm sure we're OK with wind power 😁 |

Wars have existed throughout human history. They were much more frequent before the defense industry even existed. |

Because that's what the evidence points to.
For example. The US had provided/sold 12.5 billion dollars worth of military aid (as of July this year).

So? The US invests in R&D, manufacture, testing, of leading-edge weapons systems which many nations buy freely for self-defence of their citizens. What's your gripe with that? |

Unfortunately the wheels of industry are greased by misery, illness, warfare and poverty.
Someone somewhere is profiting from someone else's misery, has been this way since the humans started and will be so until we become extinct.
Which the way things are going won't be long now! |

How is arms profit the driving force, the decision maker for a war?
This recent escalation was started by Hamas attacking Israel on October 7th last year. How were those actions driven by profiting making in the arms industry? |

Hamas went into Israel on Oct 7th, which started a conflict that escalated into a full blown war.
Was this the outcome of lobbying? |

Churchill wasn't "brought back" as PM in 1940 a) as he'd never previously been PM, and b) the Labour Party leaders serving in the wartine coalition would not accept Lord Halifax, who was the only alternative on offer, as Prime Minister - which is a bloody good job as Halifax would have sought some sort of agreement with Germany which would near-as-dammit have been conditional surrender. |

"Just watching the missles on the news, think most of been destroyed... I'm getting a bit sick of it.
It's given the green light to Israel and potentially a nuke or 2
The American and British war industry rubbing its hands with the thought of money, especially with the election coming up.
No doubt Iran was been on the phone to Russia, possibly Pakistan, north Korea and China
So what's your alternative to not having defence industries? Capitulation? It's not defence industry profits that are driving this war - it's toxic ideology and hatred.
"It's not defence industry profits that are driving this war"
What planet are some people on! What a ridiculous comment.
Why do you feel that the driving force of this conflict is profit made by arms manufacturers and not the very real hatred
Because that's what the evidence points to.
For example. The US had provided/sold 12.5 billion dollars worth of military aid (as of July this year).
How is arms profit the driving force, the decision maker for a war?
This recent escalation was started by Hamas attacking Israel on October 7th last year. How were those actions driven by profiting making in the arms industry?
Come on, we've been over this with lots of people making these points many times. You're well aware of the lobbying power of the arms industry, especially in America.
I’m missing something here.
Hamas went into Israel on Oct 7th, which started a conflict that escalated into a full blown war.
Was this the outcome of lobbying? "
If the decision makers of Hamas and / or Iran have shares in western defence companies then they would profit from a conflict knowing western nations would send military supplies to Israel. Other than that unlikely explanation, I'm also clearly missing something |

"it's probably time that the israeli's removed Netanyahu, likud et al and got to grips with the situation, instead of allowing the idiot to create the vilest dead cat in order to escape justice from his ongoing court trials. he sickens meshould Iran remove there leader aswell or is he a good man
i'd say so, yes .... wouldn't you say that netenyahu and the likud party should be removed?im not sure while on the brink of war I’d think there own ppl want a warmonger lol
you would though strangely enoughThat's why Churchill was brought back into power though.
Mrs x
i don't see the relevance
thrill xChurchill was brought back as PM because he was a warmonger and maybe the Israelis believe that's what they need now.
Mrs x"
the people didn't install churchill ... he was who the tory party installed instead of chamberlain .... the tory party were even then more concerned about keeping power rather than letting 'the people decide'. so i still fail to see any relevence to your statement, mostly because you're conflating various revisionst histories to be fair. |

Churchill was seen as a war time leader because of his military career. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Britons, largely due to his leadership during WW2, his unshakeable belief that we should continue the fight after Dunkirk and his refusal to seek for peace.
So there are similarities between him and the situation in Israel at the moment. Whether you can see this or agree with this is immaterial, our opinions don't matter. But it is true that support for fighting Hezbollah has grown within the Iaraeli citizenship.

it's also true that the calls for netenyahu and likud to be replaced are increasing with the wider population despite his recent 'emergency laws' attempting to ban mass anti-government demonstrations |

"it's well known that organised crime and terrorist groups play the stock market using the benefits of the british off shore tax havens to obfuscate the money trail. economic warefare is a thing" So you are saying a terrorist group makes decisions on who to attack and when on the whim of the markets? So it's not down to ideology, hatred of Judaism and the state of Israel in this case?

Fucks sake, to the two bickering teenagers take your petty insults elsewhere…..
Restoring the OP theme, the Israel response to the missile attack will be absolutely critical in the context of escalation and retribution. Given the US political vulnerability at the moment the next act could well have monumental bearing on all aspects of middle east stability and the impact of it on global security. |
