Mmmmm yeah was the presidential debate soap opera?

I saw a clip of trump on fox news responding to the recent shooting in Georgia. Not one kind word but had people cheering at his maga chants etc.

I had no words

It all comes down to projection.

If he said the increase in immigrants are having an adverse effect on the environment instead of they are eating the cats and dogs, the pets they are eating the pets. It might have come across less comical although still bigoted.

All he's doing is fighting the corner for America.

Have to say not one of them has spoken up for the Native People. It would be nice to see one of them make it to President.

Only in your head. TDS is simply a comfort blanket for people who support Trump. For everyone else it is just telling it like it is and what is observed

There is a big problem with this……

None of it is true… the mayor of the town said it’s not true, the governor of the state says it’s not true, the police are saying it’s not true!… even the person who put the first post on facebook about it says it’s not true, and deleted the post!

But Trump and Vance instead of just saying they got the information wrong have both just doubled down on the rhetoric

To the point where Vance was on CNN on Sunday saying it doesn’t matter if it’s true, the point is they are now talking about the subject

But words have consequences

To the point where schools and colleges in the town have been shut for the last few days due to the amount of bomb threats the are receiving, the KKK and the young boys (those of stand back and stand by infamy) are openly leafleting the town , and the Haitian residents are not going out for fear of violence!

Ironically the thing is they were invited into the town because they are happy to do the jobs in the local factories that the locals wouldn’t (sound familiar) and the economy of the town is growing!

Vance is supposed to the sitting senator for these people, and yet has decided to take the position of licking trumps arse!

Worst still, it’s rumoured that the trump campaign is looking at doing a campaign stop and rally there!

You've used "TDS" many times in reaction to people discussing things Trump has actually done and said. So by that definition. Yes.

There's a good article about some of the things that impacted native Americans last time Trump was president.

"Trump’s Tribal Record: The Destructive Era"

Interesting read.

In fairness to Trump/Vance, it's an effective tactic when looking for voters.

As an example. Just look how many people on this section of the forum get energised and excited about demonising immigrants, foreigners etc.

I have had a little read on Springfield Ohio and it isn't exactly as you paint it.

The town has been in decline with a population loss from 80K to 60K. The population has now grown 20% larger in the last 3 years with the introduction of Haitian migrants through TPS and the happened quickly, causing local problems due to Haitians being automatically eligible for benefits, Medical, food etc that rely on local suppliers to provide services. Many locals have said the high number of Haitian migrants has hindered them getting the services they need too.

It sounds like a familiar problem of over subscribing into one area without having the infrastructure to support, it tends to always result in friction and that is exactly what Trump will use to gain support from people who feel the friction.

Simple answer is to plan better, rather than make decisions that are known to cause problems.

There shouldn't be a situation that would create that type of output if things were managed correctly, stress testing peoples environments results in unpleasant outcomes.

So Trump is promoting Fake News? Oh the irony

These people came in on protected status, are there legally and are contributing a good thing to the community… and trump and Vance have decided to vilify them!

Because Trump is never wrong on any subject ever!

God forbid is anything happens in that town to that community, because the words “blood on their hands “ is going to be used a lot…. And he will claim it’s not him, he just heard it! Or people said! Like a happy flamethrower walking away from the scene

And perhaps to not stir the racial hatred pot in the meantime with false claims about pets being eaten?

There shouldn't be a situation that would create that type of output if things were managed correctly, stress testing peoples environments results in unpleasant outcomes.

What would the situation need to be like for Trump & Vance not to repeat unsubstantiated nonsense that was posted on Facebook, pretending it actually happened?

Managed correctly "

So until a situation in Ohio is "managed correctly" to an unspecified level, we should give Trump some breathing room to repeat any utter bollocks about immigrants eating people's pets?

Second question, should we extrapolate the same rules to all of society? The situation on repairing road surfaces near me isn't being managed correctly.

Foreigners are here drying out slugs and using them as earplugs.

"It all comes down to projection.

If he said the increase in immigrants are having an adverse effect on the environment instead of they are eating the cats and dogs, the pets they are eating the pets. It might have come across less comical although still bigoted.

I supplied what was causing the issues, you didn't read it or chose to ignore.

Do you not recognise that increasing a population by 20% in. 3 years without the infrastructure to support it is going to cause issues?

If you can't recognise that you along with others are supplying Trump the ammunition he needs to cause the issues you don't want.

I suspect Trump will continue to repeat utter bollocks and attempt to spread misinformation and hate, all in the name of energising his core supporters, regardless of my recognition (or in this case non-recognition) that there is some logical justification for him repeating those lies.

Forcing situations that cause public stress creates bad outcomes. Those outcomes will be used to create divide and win votes, it happens every day, every where around the world.

What you say is correct in terms of how situations are exploited but…Nope that STILL doesn’t give Trump a pass to lie, make shit up, then double down when fact checked and found to be lying.

I really despair at some of the hills you seem to want to die on lately. You used to be a good poster with thoughtful discussions but lately it has all felt rather odd "

you are obsessed with Trump. Who said it gave him a pass, other than you?

"It all comes down to projection.

If he said the increase in immigrants are having an adverse effect on the environment instead of they are eating the cats and dogs, the pets they are eating the pets. It might have come across less comical although still bigoted.

All he's doing is fighting the corner for America.

Have to say not one of them has spoken up for the Native People. It would be nice to see one of them make it to President.

Managed correctly

So until a situation in Ohio is "managed correctly" to an unspecified level, we should give Trump some breathing room to repeat any utter bollocks about immigrants eating people's pets?

Second question, should we extrapolate the same rules to all of society? The situation on repairing road surfaces near me isn't being managed correctly.

Foreigners are here drying out slugs and using them as earplugs.

Sorry @NotMe but I am with Johnny here…that is complete bollocks!

There is NEVER a situation where the candidate for POTUS should be clearly proven to be lying and talking utter tripe!

Hmmm

Now that is funny

Is it just the candidate for POTUS or is our candidate for PM given a free pass?

What has that got to do with the point being discussed? Bizarre attempt at deflection

Or do you think it's okay to be critical of Trump repeating this nonsense during the debate?

@NotMe you continue to obfuscate. Continually!

Ok benefit of the doubt time…

Q1. Is it true Haitian immigrants in the USA are eating pets?

Q2. Has Trump been saying they have been eating pets?

Q3. If it isn’t true and Trump has doubled down and been saying it despite being fact checked, then is that ok?

I'm going to need to spell it out...

And copy my original post.

First part:

I have had a little read on Springfield Ohio and it isn't exactly as you paint it.

The town has been in decline with a population loss from 80K to 60K. The population has now grown 20% larger in the last 3 years with the introduction of Haitian migrants through TPS and the happened quickly, causing local problems due to Haitians being automatically eligible for benefits, Medical, food etc that rely on local suppliers to provide services.

Second part:

Many locals have said the high number of Haitian migrants has hindered them getting the services they need too.

Next part:

It sounds like a familiar problem of over subscribing into one area without having the infrastructure to support, it tends to always result in friction and that is exactly what Trump will use to gain support from people who feel the friction.

Last part:

Simple answer is to plan better, rather than make decisions that are known to cause problems.

I will ask you once more to point out clearly my support for Trump in the above

What you say is correct in terms of how situations are exploited but…Nope that STILL doesn’t give Trump a pass to lie, make shit up, then double down when fact checked and found to be lying.

I really despair at some of the hills you seem to want to die on lately. You used to be a good poster with thoughtful discussions but lately it has all felt rather odd

This one is an odd hill to die on.

But on the other hand, arguing the inarguably is an interesting exercise.

Blimey I have had a mare with my posts!

Clear question, what hill have I decided to die on? Can you paste any text I have written that supports Trump?

I dunno, you've just been defending Trump's insane babbling about foreigners eating pets saying the "situation" wasn't managed properly.

Or do you think it's okay to be critical of Trump repeating this nonsense during the debate?

Please disconnect any bias you have and read the words as they were written.

What situation was I describing, from there it might make more sense.

Is it really bias to think that Trump repeating made up nonsense about people eating cats and dogs isn't very presidential?

Your content of your posts makes sense. The sentiment is what's being questioned.

"

Okay. Maybe you could explain how the above related to Trump repeating nonsense about foriegners eating pets?

Maybe that's a better way to get to the point.

Simple answer is to plan better, rather than make decisions that are known to cause problems.

Read what I wrote....

And what YOU don’t seem to get is that your posts on this entire subject have the appearance of trying to find excuses for Trump lying. The thread is about the false claim from Trump that Haitian immigrants are eating pets. When asked a clear question whether that was ok or if there were any circumstances that made it ok, you start talking about the impact of immigration. What you were saying in and if itself was/is correct but in the context of whether that excuses Trump for lying and doubling down…it is a totally moot and irrelevant point.

So I asked you three direct questions on the specific topic in question (this thread) and you won’t answer. Shocking really. And sad. You used to be a good poster but lately not so!

Your first point still doesn’t explain why Haitian migrants were directed towards Springfield Ohio in the first place.. which is that there were jobs available a local plants that the locals were not interested in doing

But these people wanting a new life were prepared to do those jobs, those people are helping with the local economy.. we’re entitled to medical healthcare for example because they were in those jobs!

The increase of 20% in the local population over a 3 year timeline is aggressive in my opinion and would create the problems seen today, fake fb posts and rumours, mistrust and so on.

We see it here, and it is almost replicated. I would bet people are complaining about the Haitians taking their jobs, but they don’t want to do those jobs themselves, it is such a familiar story now.

However in my opinion It wouldn’t take much to plan a more steady increase in numbers maybe over several areas or work with the community to introduce Haitians, but that doesn’t seem to have happened and it has left the door open for the exploitation of facts we have witnessed.

Again this is not unique to Springfield Ohio or Trump.

Since you have been doing some research.. thought I would do some… so here we go

According to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal

On September 9, people from JD Vance staff call the leader of Springfield, Ohio

“He asked point blank “are the rumours true of pets being taken alive and eaten?” .. I told him no. There was no verifiable evidence or reports to show this was true. I told him these claims were baseless “

Remember that date.. September 9th…

So on September 10th… Trump knowing that both his campaign team and Vance campaign team had checked…goes on a debate stage in Philadelphia… and makes the claim yet again

So… we know they knew at that time

We knew they knew when they doubled down

We knew they knew when Trump again made the claim at his rally’s

We knew that they knew when Vance went on the Sunday morning political shows….

So at what point does them knowing and lying become reckless?

The point where schools and colleges get bomb threats?

The point school children have to be looked after for safety by police?

The point where a carnival this weekend which was supposed to celebrate inclusivity has had to be cancelled!

It’s all fine though because NotMe said so. It is fine to do this because immigration issues are not managed well and until they are it is totally fine for a candidate for POTUS and his running mate to tell proven lies that are only there to inflame racial tensions and anti-immigrant sentiment. It’s all fine because…reasons!!!!!!

@Notme, one of the reasons some politicians around the world exploit mismanagement with lies and misinformation is

1- Their are nieve, gullible, uneducated, sycopants (call it what you like ) supporters who gobble up their words without question has gospel.

2- People who claim not to be supporting the said exploitative politicians, refusing to condemn or call out the lies. Instead of calling for them to be held to account, actually giving reasons for the lying.

Sometimes it good to take the right side in spite of your allegiances. That's if you really want to stop the polarisation that the world's politics is spinning into.

You’re still thinking that I’ve said it was okay for Trump to say what he did, you still think I’m supporting him.

I’m very clear, a mismanaged situation allowed him to take advantage of people’s reactions. If the government or local authorities had managed the population increases, that many locals were complaining about due to the impact it was having on them personally, he would not have had the ammunition in the first place.

It’s not hard to understand this!

However if you are believe communities can be pushed aside without due diligence to mitigate issues such as increases in population by 20% in this case, you will continue to see poor outcomes locally that will allow politicians and even criminal to take advantage.

Look deeper than the surface, or don’t

If you want to discuss the outcome of him using flawed and misleading claims, it is obvious that this is a no brainer, that will lead to the problems you mentioned above.

This has been witnessed here with the riots recently, what are the laws in the US to punish this? If they don’t have them, you need to look deeper as to why, or ask Starmer to take control he would be facing at least 12 years now.
